I really like staying here when we are in town. This was our second time and first time enjoying the breakfast buffet. Fresh omelettes are made with plenty of ingredients to choose from. Ours on both days were very tasty. Waffles are also available to be made. There are the usual juices, fruit and other buffet items. They offer sausages, bacon, potatoes and fried eggs if you don't want an omelette. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Plenty of room space but the pillows need help. Even using two pillows, they were still not comfortable. One complaint I have was the toilet seat was loose, I tried to tighten it but no use. The lobby, bar, and dining stars is pretty awesome. Lots of places to sit, work, relax, and hang out. The room is spacious, but the bathroom is a bit cramped. Nice Sheraton (Marriott brand) hotel in Ann Arbor. If you have Marriott status, then the hotel will give you free breakfast vouchers (eggs made to order, hot foods, coffee, fruit, yogurt) in the restaurant (buffet style). There's also a lounge with snacks and beverages. Every time I stay at this hotel, I get upgraded to the Junior Suite, which has a couch, TV, and a mini fridge. I wish they would change out the carpet and the interior paint (it's too dark in the room, especially during the winter). the hotel's conveniently near the freeway exit but far from downtown Ann Arbor. Parking is free as well. Pool/Hot tub is closed during the winter, which is strange because its indoors. read more

This rating is only based on my being here for a conference, as a participant who used its conference rooms and large ballroom. I DID NOT stay in the hotel. The conference rooms were large and comfortably fit all of the attendees; chairs were comfortable for all day sitting. The waitstaff were great, very friendly and attentive. The meals were good, the coffee excellent. My only complaint was that the wing where the large ballroom is was cold, seems like the temperature control was a little off. I wish I could've stayed longer! Check-in was a breeze. A very nice gentleman with dreads greeted me at the desk. What a kind young man. I like that for the Bonvoy floors you have to scan your card (a little extra security). My king size bedroom was $161, and I could've paid more for breakfast but there are so many options around here that I didn't think it necessary. There was a nice "taller" mini fridge and a single serve coffee machine in the room (Starbucks), along with a complimentary bottle of water. Parking was easy and plentiful all around the building, making getting to your car super easy. The pool and lobby also were very well kept and shiny. AREA TO IMPROVE (the only reason I didn't give 5 stars): the room was very clean, but I think the use of brown "wood" floors in the shower makes it hard for the maintenance staff to tell if it's fully clean. I am highly sensitive and could smell and feel it under my feet at parts of the shower floor. Totally brings down such a beautiful updated bathroom. I enjoyed my recent stay at the Sheraton in Ann Arbor. This was my first visit to Ann Arbor. The hotel wasn't crowded and my expectations during a pandemic were met. The restaurant had not yet open (I was told it would open in about a week's time). The room was comfortable and I guess daily maid service is a thing of the past during the pandemic. Again, no one mentioned the lack of maid service, but it wasn't a big issue for me. They have a very nice 24-hour available fitness room. It will be nice when all the hotel is back to "normal"! read more

Stayed at this hotel while visiting Ann Arbor for the first time. Great location it was really close to everything, the mall, restaurants, and of course, the University of Michigan! When we stayed, there was a large group of baseball teams and they were all so polite and nice. The staff did a great job, and everything was quiet and clean. Great breakfast bar and we overall enjoyed our trip. I had never stayed at a Sheraton before but will definitely stay at one again. Our room was clean. Our bed was comfortable and just had a great stay. Recommend if you're in the Ann Arbor area. read more

This hotel gets 4 stars because of its proximity to campus. The staff is very nice. Rooms are pretty typical and what you expect in a Marriott owned property. I do think the cleaning staff could clean bathroom floors better. There was hair on the floor- not mine. Other than that I was comfortable with the cleanliness of the room. This hotel is very clean and has great COVID protocol in regards to cleanliness. I felt very comfortable. My room had an air purifier in it which may or may not have helped. The bathroom was spotless. Everything felt clean and I was very happy with that. The hotel was also empty! Upon arrival I checked in at the desk to get my room key and they upgraded me which was a pleasant surprise. I was given and thorough explanation of the current standards of the hotel and what to expect. It was very helpful. Their hotel bar was closed, however they had lots of beverages and snacks available for purchase. As mentioned above, things were clean. My room had an extremely comfy king bed. The bathroom was spotless and the shower was amazing. Great water pressure and a nice shower head. I used a side door so I don't know if they offered a "to go" continental breakfast. I try to avoid common area just because I feel safer that way. What I was disappointed in in my stay is that prior to check in, I requested extra towels be left in my room and there weren't. I did that through the app. I also asked when I arrived and never got them. It wasn't the end of the world, but would have been nice to have them. I stayed here recently after going to a U of M banquet held in one of the event rooms. The rooms are nice enough but not the modern look I prefer. The bed was comfortable. Good water pressure. There is a nice market area, gym, bar, and business center. My only real complaint is that they desperately need a new cable system. Few channels and an old fashioned moving tv guide. Also the guide was only showing channels 5 hours ahead of current time, making it useless. This hotel was about $40 more than the surrounding hotels so I expected more. You cannot skimp on cable or wifi in a hotel these days. So with no TV guide and few decent channels I couldn't really watch TV. This should not be an issue at a Marriott owned hotel. It is a factor of comfort and if I can't even watch TV in the evenings, there are better places to stay. read more

My first business trip to Ann Arbor. I chose the Sheraton as it is part of my company's preferred hotel program and also because it is now part of the Marriott family. I had a wonderful 4 night stay here. The front desk team is super friendly and greeted me each day coming and going. My room was huge - king size bed, lots of room to walk around, good size bathroom, plus it had a refrigerator and microwave. When I checked in, the front desk noticed where my room was and with hesitation moved me to another room further from the elevator on the 4th floor. The club room for Marriott members is nice. I did eat breakfast there but just cold cereal and I had one evening meal, which was the vegetable lasagna. It was very good. They don't have a bar in the club room, but the hostess was happy to go into the lounge and get my drink for me. Their lounger area is also very nice. The bartender was fun to talk to. I did order their French Onion Soup and it was delicious. The hotel has an indoor and outdoor pool, restaurant, gym, and lots of meeting space. While I was there, it was packed with athletic teams in town. But I never heard a peep at night so either the rooms are really soundproof or the kids went to bed very early. The parking lot is huge. I was lucky enough to snag a good parking spot each evening near the front entrance. I also noticed a Hertz Rental Car desk at the hotel. I will definitely stay here again the next time I come to Ann Arbor. It's conveniently located, on-site restaurant (nice for us that work late), and super friendly staff are what's important to me. read more

A2 - home of Leaders and Best. Lots of venues and much integration into the U. At the hotel for a short weekend - it provided the usual Marriott fare, with ease to the 94 and to campus and environs. The concierge lounge ("club lounge") was reasonable, and certainly on par with some of the other Marriott's in the Midwest. The central elevator can be slow, so note there is another one at the end of the hall which seems less frequently used, and moreso by the staff. Plenty of parking at no additional cost. Restaurant otherwise had good service staff, even if they did need to find the omelette cook. Housekeeping was the main issue - forgot towels and to empty trash, both days, and left no tissues in the room after they were gone - although did remember to make the bed - even on the 'club' floor. Maybe it was just the weekend which created the subpar performance. read more

If I ever live Groundhog Day, I'm convinced this will be the location. Thanks to my work life, I've now stayed here enough times that I could draw the faces of every member of the breakfast staff from memory. It's a fine hotel on all counts. Good beds, contemporary decor, decent workout room. The Internet is free, but the wireless is not very reliable. (In most rooms, you're better off plugging your laptop into the cable.) The location is a very bland corporate park by a mall and a freeway. God Bless America. A highlight: all rooms come with a nice big empty refrigerator. (I like to pick up a couple beers from the World Market, which is just across Eisenhower.) The breakfast buffet is pretty good, although by the time I'm having it for the third day in a row, I'm ready for home cooking. I recommend the made-to-order omelet. If you're lucky, it will be made by the always-morose-looking guy, who can toss an egg much better than he can stifle a grimace. (The wait staff is great too. Like clockwork, they will smile as they take my breakfast coupon and then absentmindedly ask me 5 minutes later whether I have already given them the coupon.) Apparently it was very recently renovated and only a short drive from the "Big House" where my company was sponsoring a Hack-A-Thon event. I only have positive things to say about this Sheraton. My room was a double bed king suite (and I was staying in it alone...I totally slept on both beds for the 3 days I stood there) and it was meticulously clean, insanely comfortable and the front desk staff were fantastic once I realized I had either lost or forgotten my little 3 oz. tube of toothpaste. I also got to spend some time at the hotel bar. It's not as plush obviously as a New York hotel bar would be (hey! We're spoiled ova heyaa!) but it got the job done as far as their (albeit limited) but not so bad beer selection...although since I wasn't paying I never went for the beer. Instead I went straight to my good friends Grey Goose and Bacardi - those guys never fail me {3. Bartender Marc was an absolute sweetheart and he was great at crafting creative cocktails for my coworker and I. On our last day one of the female bartenders who's name I didn't get made us hot chocolates with 2 shots of Bailey's, whipped cream and chocolate syrup drizzle...it was just what my ailing throat at the time needed. It's what I need NOW and thankfully at this current time my strep throat is over, lol. Room service here was fantastic - my bed was always made, the bathroom was always stocked with things that bathrooms should be stocked with, I always had new towels - good stuff all around. I ordered breakfast here each morning and it was always the same - their eggs benedict with a side of link sausages. The sausages were surprisingly quality, the eggs benedict came complete with Canadian bacon and seasoned roasted potatoes was above average for room service, however I did note that their English muffins were pretty thicker than they should have been and completely devoid of any nooks and crannies...but I assume they're made in-house and who can fault that? They were still tasty, properly toasted and buttered. YUM. I also shared an order of room serviced Cajun seasoned scallops and jumbo shrimp with my boss who stood in a room across for me - also surprisingly delicious. Good job Sheraton chefs! YUM! Should I ever have the opportunity to visit Michigan here or know anyone travelling here I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. Oh, and I realized I lied in the beginning of this review, I don't only have positive things to say about the Sheraton...there was only one negative...the WIFI here is dreadfully unreliable, don't even think about getting work done here. If you really need internet connection...at least they have a complimentary work station/computer terminal thing near the hotel bar for emergencies should your smartphone not suffice. Still, my stay here was fantastic and their embarrassingly bad WIFI signal (no one in my company could latch on or get anything to load if they did so this wasn't exclusively a 'me' thing) wasn't enough for me to dock a star - thanks for the fantastic service, Sheraton! 5 happy stars!! read more

I've stayed here pre-, during, and now at the very end of renovations.If my last visit is any indication, this hotel will be transitioning from an OK choice to a more upscale place to stay. In general the rooms are clean and well-appointed; I appreciated the updated decor on my most recent visit. The revamped room service menu looks very appealing, and the new exercise room looks much bigger and better equipped than the old. Service has always been a strong point here and that continued to be true during my last visit. I agree with other reviewers that it was not pleasant to stay here during the renovations. In fact, I moved loyalties to a different hotel after an unpleasant stay in a plastic wrapped room on a windy night. I also didn't feel super safe with pairs of construction workers lingering outside each hotel door at all hours. I'm glad the work is done. Location is a wash on the Sheraton, since the bulk of Ann Arbor's hotels are all in the same small neighborhood. One big negative for me: The Internet service here is unreliable and slow. I'm a business traveler, and I actually need the Internet connection to get work done, so this is a significant problem. The Internet cuts out about once per hour here. read more

Great hotel, great location! We've stayed here twice as a family (with 3 small kids) and several times individually on business trips and have always been happy with our stay. We usually stay on the executive floor and have lounge access. It is always stocked with great snacks and offers a decent hot breakfast, good coffee, and several drink options (our kids loved it too, and it helped not to pack a million snacks for our trips). Everything was clean, updated bathrooms and decor, beds were comfy, and rooms were cozy overall. We love staying here, as we go here often for business and have family in Ann Arbor. read more

People outside my room were loud out in the courtyard til late at night, room service did not replace hand lotion or finish cleaning my room... ever. Television was very frustrating, I think it's like this even when it's actually working properly. Every time I changed the channel it took like two whole seconds before the next channel would display and once I selected HBO - the TV would pixelate and freeze (for minutes at a time)... it did this every 2-3 minutes. This would cause you to miss portions of the program you were watching. Very frustrating! Like can't the Sheriton spend a few dollars and get a better internet connection??? Aren't they owned by the Mormons who are like the richest chruch is the whole world? If not, they still have enough money to buy a better TV and internet connection. read more

We had a strange experience at this hotel! Some hours after we checked in, a red carpet swatch was placed inside our room. We received a tray with fresh berries, chocolate-covered strawberries and assorted cheeses. Say what? On our desk was a framed: Congratulations You are our VIP Guest of the day!! "You deserve the red carpet treatment! We hope you enjoy your stay with us and these complimentary amenities. If we can do anything for you during your stay, please contact us immediately. -- The Sheraton Ann Arbor Front Desk Staff" Well, gosh, that was kind of amazing! I asked the front desk person for concierge lounge access, citing the "if we can do anything" phrase on my desk. Wish granted! The lounge was a welcome source of breakfast and was very comfortable and spacious-feeling. The food and drink that are served are pretty much average for hotel concierge lounges. I did like the fully automatic espresso machine, which I used as the source of an Endless Cappuccino. The workout room on the first floor is way better than average for a hotel. The word "spacious" describes it as well. The equipment (LifeFitness) was pretty new and non-dilapidated. There are four spaces in the parking lot with electric vehicle chargers -- yay! But three of the four have Tesla-specific chargers and only one is for non-Tesla vehicles. That seems totally backwards! Actually, since Teslas can charge from generic level 2 chargers, I can't see the motivation for installing Tesla chargers (unless Tesla paid for them, which is my guess). The free WiFi is pretty good as well: download 7.76 Mbps, upload 3.84 Mbps. read more

There were four of us for the Northwestern-Michigan football game, we've done this before, we'll do it again, and each time, we get better at it. This time, we learned about the area Sheratons. My half of the foursome couldn't stomach the football weekend price increase for the Ann Arbor Sheraton, they tripled rates, so we stayed in the Novi Sheraton, but spent enough time visiting our friends that I can compare. Their room and hotel was a tad newer, their room was a bit nicer (more recently renovated), and just a bit more convenient to The Big House, but certainly not enough to justify $300 a night (we paid less than $100 a night in Novi, a 35-45 minute drive to the U of M campus). The AA Sheraton rooms are like the Novi Sheraton rooms, the bathrooms are too small, without towel racks, though their housekeeping seemed better than ours. The hotel was sold out months in advance for this, and I think most home football weekends, the big crowds shouldn't have taken them by surprise, but parking was still problematic, breakfast on game day morning was unconscionably slow. We never got a waiter, so we were forced to take the breakfast buffet (my companions wanted to just order off the menu), the omelet chef took a half hour break and only appeared as we were finishing, there were no bowls (for breakfast!), so I ate my oatmeal on a dinner plate (so uncivilized), many selections were just empty warming dishes. Since we always plan to get to the stadium early, we were still a little ahead of schedule after the breakfast delay. Then the bus shuttle, a very reasonable $1.50 each way, turned out to be a big waste of money, as I bought round trip, and we waited in vain for an hour. We did see one shuttle fill up just before we bought the nonrefundable tickets, then we moved to the the front of the line when half an hour later the next bus filled up, and promised that "another bus is right behind," but the "right behind part" was a rather deceptive way of saying that there would not be another bus for the next half hour (could have been more, we waited and no other bus came, so we gave up). We hopped in a taxi, which cost us $20 (including a well deserved tip), but since we didn't know where the shuttle picked up for the return trip, we had to shell out another $20 for another cab to return from the game. Now, on the plus side, the Northwestern contingent stayed at the hotel, so it was fun to see the athletic director, the cheerleaders, the support staff, and the other alumni at the indoor tailgate party. Since the hotel was filled with older alumni from both universities, the night noise really wasn't that bad, and our Sheraton in Novi had some teenagers in a youth hockey league, we actually had more night noise disturbance than our friends in Ann Arbor, but remember the $200/night difference, and we stayed all weekend. The general atmosphere was that the staff here was harried, overwhelmed, and there's no excuse for that. Yes, home football weekends bring in a lot of people from out of town, but that happens according to schedule, every football season, every year, since before they wore helmets on the gridiron. Just like the Michigan coaching staff obviously planned an offense to compensate for not having Denard Robinson starting, and to take advantage of our inexperienced backup cornerbacks, the hotel management should have had a plan in place to handle the full capacity weekend. Here's my guess. The management here thinks that the football weekend guests are mostly one time visitors, so they don't try very hard for the repeat business. That's a big mistake, whether intentionally negligent, or just incompetent, I know we're not coming back, not to stay in the hotel, not to eat in the restaurant, not even to park and ride the shuttle. And we come back every two years for football, but also randomly at other times we're passing through (my brother is an alumni, we have friends in the Detroit area, Ann Arbor is a unique and beautiful little college town, University of Michigan seminars or conferences, Zingerman's), and besides that, Big Ten alumni will chat with each other about visiting stadiums for games. It's not just the stressful slow service on game day, it's the insult. This is no way to treat customers, you shouldn't inflate your prices knowing the demand has increased, then neglect to deliver the increased service demanded. read more

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful weekend celebrating our wedding anniversary here. It was the first time we had gone on a weekend vacation in our 15 years of marriage. Chole, the bartenders, guest services, and the entire staff made us feel very welcome with their friendliness and little perks such as a surprise fruit tray and complimentary wine the evening of our arrival. We enjoyed a beautiful, clean, scenic, and relaxing Club Level room. The Club Lounge was also lovely with their snacks, hot and cold drinks, hot breakfast, and a delicious of hot evening entrees complete with a side of hot veggies. This was a fantastic hotel, especially since I booked it on Hotwire and paid $70 per night. Clearly the entire place has been recently remodeled and it shows. The lobby of the hotel is really nice, welcoming and loungey. If you don't have anything to do and you need a place to hang out, have a drink and use wifi, hang out on the comfy chairs/couches in the lobby. There's also a restaurant/bar that serves all of your food and bar needs. The rooms are great. Not too small (especially for one or two people) and the bed was insanely comfortable. Clearly all new mattresses, comforters, pillows, etc. and so worth the effort. Down alternative comforter and pillow-top mattress = great night's sleep. Mini fridge with COMPLIMENTARY bottled water (unheard of!) and lots of space for your beer. This seems to be one of the go-to places to stay if you're in town for a Michigan football game, so beer is always a necessity. Right across the street from a mall with a ton of restaurants and things to do AND about two miles down the road from the golf course and Michigan Stadium. We walked it and it was just fine... definitely much easier on the way back than trying to leave the stadium and all of that parking chaos. This hotel was fantastic. Even if we had paid full price, I still would have enjoyed the hotel. There were obviously a lot of rowdy football partiers hanging around, but it wasn't too loud or annoying (like other hotels I've stayed in in AA under similar circumstances). This could have been a terrible experience but the Sheraton is classy enough to keep it nice. Oh, and apparently this is a great place for weddings. My husband attended a reception here a few years back and the conference spaces are beautiful and worth booking if you're getting married in the area. read more

okay we've all experienced the occasional hotel snafu (rooms unavailable, loud guests, construction, etc. ) but this particular Sheraton has managed to combine every possible hotel mortal sin into a breathtakingly symphony of inconvenience and discomfort. I don't understand how hotels can get away with booking through major renovations, but, just like it is somehow accepted practice, not to mention, legal, for airlines to overbook, hotels can just keep selling substandard rooms in construction zones, without having to tell you or offer a discount. Driving up to this hotel to see it entirely encased in plastic, let's just say I wished that I had gotten more sleep last night. It looked like a Cristo installation. Had to haul our bags through a slush river and over plywood to their temporary lobby (hard hats required signs everywhere, incidentally.) We entered a freezing, closet sized space to the lilt of jackhammers to be told, surprise! our rooms aren't ready, even though we called ahead and were assured they would be AT ONE PM. No chairs or places to put our luggage while waiting for the 15 yr old at the desk to ask each member of our party the same set of personal questions, loudly: Drivers license, address, phone number, email address: all of which we were expected to answer. When asked why she needed that information, (having checked into, literally, hundreds of hotels without having to go through this) she replied, "Security." Um, did somebody forget we were in Ann Arbor? She also said that they would be putting a $20 hold on my card, ahead of actual charges. This took, seriously, 30 minutes. Okay, one working elevator, open the door to my room and am hit with overpowering odor of Febreeze. Looks like i got the room that someone smoked in. But i can't open the window to air it out, because the ENTIRE HOTEL IS COVERED. Claustrophobia aside, i could do nothing but turn the fan on for hours to make a dent in the choking stench. Outside,my door, teens are running up and down the halls in costumes. They are taking part in a dance competition. When i asked if i could get another room, another 15 yr old at the desk explained that it wouldn't matter, that they were evenly distributed throughout the hotel and i was just going to have to live with it. I thought about going downstairs to their workout closet (treadmill, elliptical) but since there was NO DOOR on the room that was right off the 'lobby' i reconsidered. I managed to drop off to sleep somewhere around 4:30 am while being entertained by a roomful of howling teens at my headboard. Next morning i looked for the 'restaurant' which turned out to be chafing dishes set up in one of the conference rooms.Cold eggs, cold oatmeal...seriously? at least they only want $10 for the buffet. OH I had forgotten!!! The last time I stayed here, I got BED BUGS. YES. I made new critter friends. Management did not even send me some points to make up for any of the things that transpired to me (sniff) as is customary. =( Who knows this hotel may have shaped up since I stayed there but IMHO, though I love Starwood, the points aren't worth risking it. read more

A-OK, indeed, Sheraton Ann Arbor. Per many a contact in the Detroit area, Ann Arbor has a hotel problem. It's a little odd (considering the vast size of the university area) that most of the Ann Arbor hotels are situated right off the highway near, well, very little. But that's a different story for a different day. I only stayed here one night and it was more than fine. The room was extra clean, the staff very friendly and on top of things (cab waiting for me precisely when I asked) and the price was right. Additionally, there seems to have been quite a bit of remodel work downstairs as the lobby and fitness area looked pretty on point. Parking looks to be pretty tight around this area, so keep that in mind if you're driving in. Otherwise this is a solid place to get some work done (free, stable Wi-Fi), take a snooze and recharge. read more

When I was last here, this was a Four Points by Sheraton, which for anyone who spends a large portion of their life in Starwood hotels would tell you is one of the lowest chains on the hotel ladder. Returning back a year later after a massive renovation, this hotel is very impressive. In general, rooms are the same size, but the qualities of the beds and furnishings is much nicer and I think they've also updated their TVs and desks (with more power strips!). Note: they are still doing some renovations here or there, so it look a little messy on some floors for a while, but it'll be done soon enough. The one novel thing I noticed with this site that I havn't seen at other sites is how they are using keycards with RFID chips (not the magnetic strip anymore). It makes the entire experience feel that much more seamless and technologically savvy, which is unexpected for the only Starwood hotel in Ann Arbor. While many will go for the boutiques in a city like Ann Arbor, I think this hotel is a great place to end up and that you'll really enjoy it. read more

I stayed here for business a couple of weeks ago. It's pretty far from downtown Ann Arbor; you can hoof it over to the bus stop if you want to go see the U of M sights. There is a Tim Horton's next door to it, though. The hotel itself was meh. The bed was kind of hard, the desk chair was off balance, and the bathroom tile grout was chipped out in many places. They kept the room clean, though. The front desk people and the maintenance guy I saw fixing things up were friendly. The pool was pretty nice. The meeting I was attended had arranged a group rate; I would be a bit peeved if I'd paid the regular rack rate ($150/night) for this hotel. I'm averaging the hotel with the bar to get three stars. The food is fine, but the bartenders, Patrick and Sarah, were really nice to me, both friendly and attentive. I would guess most of the patrons were regulars. If you go in there, ask Patrick if he's found an orchestra to conduct yet. read more

This is actually a pretty nice, upscale business hotel that's been recently refurbished. What's not to like? BARKING DOGS!!! I was on the "Club Level" and there was a yipping, barking dog next door!! I complained to the front desk at 6:30pm and when it continued until 10:30pm I called the on-duty manager. She wasn't willing to solve the problem and told me that "unfortunately, we are a pet friendly hotel". I'm shocked to realize that upscale hotels even ALLOW dogs -- I stay in business hotels over 100 nights a year and I have NEVER seen a dog in any hotel! Since this hotel chooses to be "pet friendly" I'll just have to go to a hotel that's "guest friendly". I suggest you do the same. read more
