Perhaps it's helpful to say that the Stone Chalet campus is the site of a former Unitarian church. That's how I remember it, driving/jogging by during student years. Therese remembers it was the site of piano recitals. Anyway, the former "main building" has been converted to an event center (we didn't spend much time there) and the former parsonage converted to guest quarters. Our room was Alice-in-Wonderland themed, spacious and cozy for an autumn visit. Breakfast was ordered via an app, with many choices, including gluten-free options for Therese. If you want a good and even inspiring conversation, seek out the owner Vincent, who can share some fascinating stories about real estate and his efforts to purchase, maintain, and make profitable the Stone Chalet property. Cracked trash can and cracked toilet seat in bathroom. Breakfast area was incredibly small and very crowded. Food ran out and service person struggled to keep up with everything. Coffee in the room was terrible. Coffee in the lobby was much better. Charging a dollar for a bottle of water seems wrong. Just charge a little more for the room and include "free" water. Pool was very small, more like a big hot tub than a swimming pool. Unlikely to stay here again.

It's small enough to cover and a half of a day which makes it very nice for people with mobility issues that can't really do a days worth of walking. They also had sidewalks available in one of the main areas along with the children's gardens areas and that was very helpful in terms of being able to complete the tour that we had wanted to do. I can't even begin to tell you how many plants and trees and herbs there are in this botanical Wonderland. If you ever get to Ann Arbor, I strongly encourage you not to pass this up .....and guess what it's free to the public!!!! Love taking visitors here now…read more Unfortunately, right now, there isn't much bloomed. Only the indoor conservatory is worth seeing. The Bonzai trees are "sleeping" according to their sign :0( It's $5 for 2 hour parking (I still pay inside because the machine never accepts my credit card). There is a lot to explore here though. Especially on the walking trails.
