Went again and it was FANTASTIC! Great food, drinks and service! Love the look. Can't recommend this place enough! Looking forward to trying their brunch soon. 10/10.

Venue has been on our list for a while, and we decided to pop in to try the lunch special that they were offering for Restaurant Week. I loved the atmosphere, very modern and vibrant. Elliott gave us wonderful customer service, very attentive and friendly. We both had the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, and wow was it tasty! The breading was crispy yet light, the chicken very juicy, and the toppings were the perfect offset. I also indulged in a happy hour cocktail, it was a season special cranberry mule with orange Kettle One, very refreshing and yummy!

Walked into an amazing venue...if I might borrow from their name. The ambiance is incredible. Very modern and chic. I was told I needed to visit when in Ann Arbor. I was not dissapointed. I met Thad, the executive chef who was sitting at the bar chatting with his brother. I asked about their stand-out cocktails and Erin, my bar tender, recommend the SMOKY OLD FORUM (Bourbon, Amaro, Demerara). It was smoked to order, with a small cloud of smoke when served. Tasted like perfection, and perfect drink for the late fall season. I wasn't here for a full meal so I ordered the CAROLINA WINGS as a snack. The sauce was made with peaches and remained savory while on slightly sweeter side of savory. They were really good! Highly recommend. I also give them accolades for being environmentally friendly with biodegradable paper straws. Erin was an amazing bar tender. She was friendly and inviting. I would come here often if I lived in the area. They are very close to the big house (Michigan Stadium) yet off the beaten path.

Very modern place! I like the decor and how open it is. I had homemade pasta with shrimp and it was tasty but kind of pricey. It would be a cool place to host a party or get together. Lots of free parking right in front of the venue.

So a couple of friends and myself decided to randomly take a trip to AA to check out a new restaurant that he thought looked pretty great. Venue by 4M in Ann Arbor offers a truly massive space with some great aesthetic qualities, boasting an impressive visual appeal that could make it a standout location. However, despite its grand scale and stylish decor, the venue regrettably lacked any real warmth, leaving the overall atmosphere feeling a bit cold and impersonal. Our dining experience was a mixed bag. We ordered the salmon cakes and a salad, and both dishes were undoubtedly delicious. The flavors were on point, and the ingredients seemed fresh. That said, they were also quite basic in their presentation and composition, not offering anything particularly innovative or memorable. The most frustrating aspect of our visit was the service. It took a significant 15-20 minutes for anyone to approach our table, and we had to repeatedly ask for someone to come over and take our order. This lack of attentiveness was a considerable detractor from the meal. While I wouldn't rush back for a casual dining experience, I do believe the large space would be fantastic for a group party or event. Its expansive layout and attractive aesthetics lend themselves well to accommodating a larger crowd, where the emphasis might be more on the gathering itself rather than an intimate dining experience.

I recently booked Venue by 4M for my team's office party, and it was a great experience with a few areas for improvement. I chose this place based on a friend's recommendation, and it definitely lived up to the hype. The venue was perfect for our gathering of 30 people, and the staff did an excellent job accommodating us. Since it was the day before a holiday and the restaurant had been closed earlier in the day, we planned the event the same morning. Despite the short notice, the staff was incredibly flexible and made the entire process seamless. They even assured me over the phone that we could take our time without feeling rushed, which was a thoughtful touch. The restaurant has a unique charm, as it's a former grocery store that's been transformed into a modern, art-inspired space. The vibe is fantastic--sleek, clean, and inviting, with beautiful artwork and thoughtful design elements throughout. One of my favorite features was the large windows, which allowed us to enjoy the stunning sunset while we dined and socialized. It created the perfect atmosphere for our gathering. We came in for a happy hour gathering, and while the overall experience was pleasant, the food was just okay and could definitely be improved. We only tried their happy hour menu, so I can't speak to their main menu yet, but I'm hoping for a more flavorful experience when I return to explore it. Our server was attentive, friendly, and regularly checked on our large group to ensure everything was going smoothly. The appetizers were fresh and flavorful, but I feel the drink menu could use some improvement. I tried the Tropical Thunder, and while the name and description suggested a bold, strong cocktail, it was much sweeter than expected. A better balance of flavors would have elevated the experience. The bread with olive oil was simple yet flavorful, and the chips paired with different dips added a fun variety to the meal. Chimichurri offered a refreshing, tangy twist. The fried calamari was perfectly crispy, while the pizza brought a comforting and satisfying touch. Brussels sprouts chips was so crispy and full of flavor. The rosemary table spread added an aromatic elegance to the experience, and the chicken wings we had were served in different flavors, each one bursting with its own unique taste. One feature I truly appreciated is that Venue by 4M doubles as a rentable workspace. They offer open desks, conference rooms, and video conferencing setups, making it a great spot for professionals. Additionally, the ample parking space adds to the convenience of hosting events here. With its welcoming atmosphere, diverse themed menu options (including American, Asian, and Mexican), and versatile offerings, this venue is an excellent choice for both gatherings and work-related needs. I'll definitely return to explore their main menu and see how their bar offerings evolve. Overall, a great experience that has the potential to be even better!

I really wanted to rate this place higher because I'm a big fan of their coffee shop. Unfortunately, my dinner experience was underwhelming. We shared the rosemary bread, and I ordered the chicken wings and Caesar salad. Nothing was outright bad, but the food lacked flavor and didn't quite meet expectations, especially given the price. That said, the service was excellent, the happy hour deals are great, and I really enjoy the decor. It's a solid spot if you're with a large group or just stopping in for a drink. Hopefully, they'll consider upgrading the menu to match the quality of the rest of the experience.

Porchetta Hash with biscuit and side of sausage gravy

My 2,000th review and last review of 2024 goes to Venue by 4M! I've mostly known this space as Lucky's Supermarket or "that new co-working place." I didn't realize they had full blown restaurant operations! It's helmed by Executive Chef Thad Gillies ...who is most recently from Logan - which we loved loved before it closed, so I had high hopes. We specifically came for their sunday jazz brunch - stellar idea and execution! I'm sure someone with a good ear with sound would say that the acoustics aren't perfect for live music but you know what, I'm not the sound expert. You can be asked to be seated a little further away if you do want to be able to hear your dining companions better though. For food - I couldn't really decide, I really wanted the Biscuits and Gravy but ALSo the porchetta hash..so I made it work by ordering the Porchetta hash, choosing biscuits as my "bread" on the side & adding an order of the sausage gravy ($5). Flavors were good! The hash got a little soggy texture wise with the soft porchetta, so I went home and airfry-ed my leftovers and saw great success! No notes on the biscuits and gravy - I'll probably order that as my main next time. Diamond, our server, was fantastic! Perfect balance of attentive while still giving our large group some time to settle in and chat. She also split the bill easily for us which is always always appreciated! I'll be back to check out their happy hour as well as dinner sometime!

    Shrimp carbonara
    Ainsley E.

So this place is...weird? They've done a decent job breaking up the large space so it feels like a restaurant and not a grocery store (this building used to be a Kroger and then Lucky's Market), but it still has a kind of hospital or cafeteria vibe. Maybe it was the lighting, the high ceilings, or the smell of cleaning product or something, but it was off to me. The food was good, but definitely on the expensive side for the ambiance here. We ordered: - Arancini. Pretty typical, I think the sauce was the best part. - Carbonara (add shrimp) - this was quite good, best part being the clearly fresh-made pasta. - Bison Bolognese - my partner liked my carbonara better, but I thought this was fine. Wouldn't order again. - Tiramisu - this was disappointing because it's our favorite dessert, but this must have been sliced and kept exposed in the fridge because the bottom layer of sponge was DRY. Tiramisu is not a dry food. We were bummed. We agreed we wouldn't come back here unless we needed to book a large group of people and needed the seating. They certainly can accommodate large parties here without issue.

    Eggs In Purgatory
    Grace K.

Had a blast here coming to celebrate a friends' birthday recently. There were about 15 of us that came in for brunch on a Saturday morning. I ordered the eggs in purgatory was basically a shakshuka (poached, jammy eggs in a tomato-based sauce) that came with toast. I was able to swap my toast for zucchini bread free of charge. This was so tasty! Highly recommend the zucchini bread. It came with a bit of butter and jam on the side. The main dish was also delicious. The venue itself is beautiful and so spacious. Our server was friendly. Will definitely be back!

I really want to love Fraser's…read more I dig dive bars. I'm into local neighborhood spots. I enjoy beer and burgers and deep fried things. While I'm not that into sports, I can appreciate a good sports bar. Perhaps that's the critical piece here. This seems to be a really fun place to watch a Michigan football game on one of the 10,000 TVs. Even a minor game where not much is at stake will have patrons cheering at every moderately good play. But Brandon A. suggested Fraser's has "great burgers, excellent beer selection, great drinks at fantastic prices and great service...as long as you abide by one simple rule: don't be an asshole." That hasn't been my experience. They have adequate burgers, but there are significantly tastier and cheaper burgers available in town. The beer list is fine, but I have yet to find anyplace in Ann Arbor with an actually excellent beer selection. Admittedly I'm spoiled by my favorite small tap room which is several states over, and I miss deeply. However, it did give me an appreciation for what it means for a place to have an excellent beer selection. My Euchre Pils was $7 and served in a plastic cup. Maybe I'm old, but that does not feel like a fantastic price. And the service? On my most recent visit it took a long time for anyone to come by with menus, and an even longer time before anyone returned to take a food order. I tried flagging down a server, but none were making eye contact. It appears the servers work in some kind of zone defense, as every part of our experience seemed to be handled by a different person. It was uncomfortable to the point where we felt unwelcome and considered leaving. But we had already been there so long we were committed to seeing it out. For the record, I'm not an asshole. I still tipped over 25% on the food. I can't say I'm a fan of the 4% fee to use a credit card, or the $.75 charge for a little side of mayo for the fries. All told, it was $50 for two burgers, one beer, and an onion ring up-charge. Not exactly a cheap meal. So far I've braved the burgers, I've sampled the sliders, and sunk my teeth into a sandwich. I've tried the fries and onion rings. Everything was just kinda okay, but nothing has risen to the level of "ooh that's good". What am I missing? I want to love the place. It's close to where I live, which makes it mighty convenient, but unless someone can offer me a compelling reason to give it another try, I'm unlikely to return.

He also implied that I had said the kitchen "couldn't make anything good," which I never said. The food is good when it comes out correctly. My issue was not the quality of the food. My issue was the repeated mistakes and the way I was spoken to when I brought them up. I had the sliders and the Santorini salad, which has fried artichokes on it. The sliders were great. Straight up beef patties on a brioche-like bun. No filler, slightly thin, but still tastes great and beefy. Just what I wanted. The Santorini salad is about twice as big as I thought it would be for $9. I really liked the greens which included butter, red, iceberg and romaine lettuces. It also had goat cheese, olives and fried artichoke hearts. Yum, but I couldn't finish it. Since I'm at the Res Inn I just took the rest with me. I also had the Blond ales on tap. Their big deal is supposed to be the wine selection, but the beer selection is very good. Perfect for slider night! Full, refreshed and ready for he long plane rides home tomorrow.

The food and service here are really good, and the atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. Located in the lobby of the Sheraton, you almost miss it because it is so quiet. The ambiance is a little dark but not really dark - so perfect for relaxing. There is an unobtrusive TV above the bar for sports enthusiasts, but it is quiet to allow for conversation. The food ranges from quite good to really, really good. The bruschetta is distinct and fantastic. The mixture is served separately from the crustini, ensuring that the bread doesn't get soggy. And it has little pieces of fresh mozzarella in it to add even more freshness! Their fried mozzarella is also quite good, clearly freshly made. A friend had their salad and got blackened salad on it and really enjoyed it. They are happy to customize orders, whether that be food or drink. And they are happy to make drinks extra strong, so that's never a bad thing!

Their happy hour is a bit vague and the pricing is oddly secretive. Despite them having online ordering they don't have a drink menu online and the happy hour is advertised (as of May 2024) as "up to 50% off drinks). My vodka soda during happy hour was about $5 which was fine (even though it was small, made with well, and served in a plastic cup) but it does seem concerning that the full price for said drink could be closer to $10. A bit egregious considering many places in the area have happy hours with real, good cocktails for the same price. The real draw of the happy hour menu imo is the list of $5 apps. I got two sliders with fries and they were good and the portion size was great for the price. While I was there, I saw a bartender making two drinks. He knocked one over and about half spilled out and he topped it up with ice and mixer. I'd be pretty pissed if that were my drink, ngl. For the vibe and the cheap eats I'm being a bit generous with 3 stars, otherwise it would be a 2. Overall much better places to drink in AA.
