I, masked in N95 - no cough, went to pick up the script and the woman behind the desk asked my info, saw what I was there for and freaked out on me: "YOU SHOULDN'T BE HERE! IF I GET COVID, I COULD DIE!" I responded with "WELL I HAD CANCER!" She wouldn't help me so I went to the front desk to pay for my items. I asked for a manager, and none were there. A customer who witnessed this unprofessional behavior followed me to the front and said she was so sorry that happened to me and saw how poorly I was treated. The employee told me "they didn't have that (Paxlovid) here." I then checked the website and it says Rite Aid carries it. I call the pharmacy and wait 36 minutes on hold to talk to a Pharmacist, who was very nice. Turns out Rite Aid's supplier hasn't sent them Paxlovid so she said I can have another pharmacy transfer the script. Helpful! I called Safeway and they picked up the phone immediately. Have Paxlovid in stock, no problem. They fax over a request at 2:45pm. My husband went to pick up after 5 pm and Rite Aid, hadn't yet sent over the script. Called again, no wait time, and took care of it. Safeway, Freddy's, and Walmart all have the drug in stock and won't treat you like a leper. I posted online in the Newport FB group about this horrible experience and this employee has a long history of treating people poorly and has been reported multiple times. Why is she still employed? Why is someone who can die of Covid working behind the desk AT A PHARMACY?I Also, a suggestion: if you don't want sick people coming into a store that's called a PHARMACY, put a big sign out front directing customers to drive-thru! Tell them you don't carry the drug. Have masks available and hand sanitizer at the door! Also, call people who have the drug called in and tell them you don't have it and then they don't come for it. Problems all solved and no customer will be treated with disrespect - against Rite Aid's Code of Ethics and poor business!

Their current workers are not much better. On two occasions they have refused to sell me bourbon (stagg today and Weller Full Proof previously this summer) in order to favor certain customers. It doesn't matter that I was in line before the other customers and followed their policy. What is worse is one if the store employees insulted my integrity and character, lying about me, when I finally called them out on the behavior. I have complained to the store owner and I have made a phone complaint to the OLCC. The next step is I will write a formal complaint to the OLCC. This store needs to be investigated. I have never submitted a complaint before or left a one star review of any store before. We all know liquor stores can engaged in deceitful, shady behavior. This store does it openly without any regard, and then to impugn a customer's character for standing up to it respectfully is out of line. Please do not shop here.

Those working here were are friendly and were delighted when I told them how impressed I was with the store. As I walked to my car there was a lady pulling up to ask about service time. I warned her that they were terrible and she should go elsewhere. He said he would line that up for the same day and have them call. It is now 9:45 AM the next morning. Nobody had ever called. One would think that this was a simple problem with a simple solution. Apparently, that is incorrect. Waste of time and money.

They were too busy to fill it despite being open for several more hours. I was told I had to wait in line just to even drop off the script. I chose to return and drop it off first thing in the morning. I again had to wait in line to drop it off and was told it would be at least 45 minutes before it was filled. I politely told the person I couldn't return until the afternoon so to feel free to prioritize other prescriptions over my mother's. Later in the day, I got a text saying the prescription was ready for pick up. When I went in, the cashier said something about it being ready but that the pharmacist had to "cap" it and couldn't right now. I said, "Oh, I got a text saying it was ready. Okay, when will it be?" I wasn't even annoyed. She said, "It is ready. But the pharmacist is busy giving vaccines." So I said, "Well, when will the pharmacist be available?" She said, "Could be 15 minutes, could be an hour, have a seat." I tried a few more times to get her to help me understand if it made sense to wait or come back later. She absolutely refused - rather wanted to insist that the prescription was actually ready, even though I couldn't take it with me (it was just semantics - I never should have been drawn into it - but for the love of God, it's not ready if it's not ready to leave with the customer, right?). I was just stunned. I get that pharmacies are short staffed. I really tried to be understanding. But she was just being unkind for the sake of being unkind. What is the deal these days? Walgreens is asking its customers to show kindness and grace at an unprecedented level and this is how we are treated? And this women clearly just didn't care. I truly don't get it. The good news is that I stopped and spoke to the store manager on my way out and he was super kind and understanding. And the cashier at the front was nice too. Even the other clerk in the pharmacy wasn't terrible (although she absolutely should have been more helpful when she saw how awful her colleague was being). But to the person who was just so rude to me. You ruined my day. I can't imagine that was your intent. But you did. Maybe think about that next time.
