But, once I was in the exam room, I was told they would only look at one concern and that I'd need to schedule additional appointments to review the other two (suspicious AF freckles), plus another visit for a full skin exam. Six years ago I developed a red rash in the middle of my back. I'm an avid runner so I assumed it…read morewas attributed to friction caused by my sports bra. Over the next two years the rash would fade and then gradually come back. When the itching and burning finally got to a point I could no longer tolerate, I went to see a dermatologist. He gave me a very brief exam, told me that I was having an allergic reaction, and directed me to take Benadryl until I could rule out what was causing the breakout. (I should mention here, I despise taking any kind of medication.) Not wanting to endure the grogginess caused by an antihistamine for any length of time, I immediately eliminated anything and everything I thought had caused the rash. Laundry detergent.
