I am pretty picky when it comes to home wiring so I generally find it hard to find great installers. However, Sherlock did a fantastic job on my home security project. I had a 4 camera and 3 data wall outlets job for my house and they were able to complete it exactly the way I wanted it. Claudia, their sales rep is very responsive and quick to reply. One of the things I love about Sherlock is they are flexible with materials. I choose to provide my own cables since I wanted to use CAT6A and my lockbox. Sherlock is also able to install cameras that you buy which is quite rare to find. For the site visit, Ilad was very knowledge and friendly and made sure job was going to be done right. He came on the first day to check and verify things before the work began. The technicians Edgar & Alex were very friendly and hard working. The job took a day longer than estimated but they were able to finish everything. They came early in the morning and left after sunset. In the end I got everything running smoothly. Now I'm enjoying my super fast home network & high quality security cameras. Sherlock Surveillance did our home security camera system and we couldn't be happier. From the first exploratory phone call, Ilan was knowledgeable, friendly and had a calming about him that put me at ease (I was on the hunt for cameras due to increased burglaries in my neighborhood so I was scared!). I did explore a few other companies and found that their pricing was comparable to others, but I felt they would do the best overall job in terms of a clean install, not hacking up our house, and customer service when I have questions or need help. The install took 2 days and the team was great. Friendly, polite, communicative and worked hard. And, they were so careful with our house (my husband is very particular about "hack jobs"). TLDR: This company uses staples to run the camera cables on the exterior of your house without any protection. Cameras will stop working and you will be blamed. Read more for details. Pre-sales and closing process with Claudia was good. She seemed knowledgeable and even offered some good suggestions on installation on my 2-story. The appointment for the installation was flexible and the installers came promptly. The workmanship, however, was HORRIBLE. Staples were used to run the wires along any exposed wood outside the exterior of my house. I'm not talking a red office staples from Office Space, but something like the "Arow T50" (Google it). I found multiple kinks and one camera had to be re-run just 2 months after installation because obviously the cable was damaged due to being damaged by the staples. ****The takeaway: Any company that thinks STAPLING cables to wood instead of the use of conduits (the plastic piping that is used to house and protect the cables, is horrendously incompetent and this speaks volume of Sherlock's workmanship and training of their installers. **** I did not have time to sit and watch the installers run the cabling, otherwise I would've stopped them right away. I was working and came home to the atrocious workmanship. When I contacted Claudia, she had the audacity to blame me for not specifying that the cables should be run a certain way. Sorry, what? It's your business to make sure quality of workmanship is being performed, not mine. What should I say, "Hey, please don't use the worst method possible to run the cables which would guarantee the cameras would stop functioning after a couple of months"? No. Just no. The burden of workmanship lies on the provider of the service. A customer should never tell the business "Please don't do a sh*tty job.". The standard of service is obviously low due to this fact. Blaming the customer for your lack of quality speaks volumes of the lack of customer service and support you would receive after sales. As typical with a lot of desperate-for-sales companies nowadays, Sherlock does not perform any follow up/customer service/maintenance past closing. If anyone does somehow decide to still go with those company, be sure to take the day off work, pull out a folding beach chair, keep an unlimited supply of ice cold lemonade on hand, and keep and eye and make sure your cables aren't being stapled or any other half-assed method. read more

Called Sherlock for an estimate for a security camera installation. Initially they seemed pretty proactive. Took some info to understand my needs and then said they'd send me a preliminary estimate in the next day or so. Their engineer was out but would get back to me the following week to confirm the estimate. Two weeks passed and didn't get an email or a call back. Ended up calling Sherlock back and though they somewhat recalled the original conversation, couldn't find my information. She said it was so hard to keep track of everyone. She asked if I could give her my info again, I passed. If they can't keep contact info straight, I'd be a little concerned about the rest of their business practices. Dont know how they get so many good stars. CAlled them up after a burglary and spoke to woman about getting 8 cameras. She never called me back. So a few days I called again and she said she would send out a qoute. Still did not, only the thrid time did she sent out a qoute and it was so high I didnt want it. and it was for 7 cameras only. I asked her why was it so high and she said they could drop it down to about 1.3 megapixel to make it cheaper and I said no, I want quality not cheap stuff. So I ended up going with California Security Cameras, cheaper and they respond promptly. Another thing about this service is this, they refused to come to my house to see the layout and to see how many cameras I would need or where to place them. I asked the woman how would she know how to place cameras at my property before hand and if I had obstructions in the way, she said she just uses Google Maps? If someone came out to my property to estimate it, it would cost me $150.00 which I though was totally wrong. Good thing I did not go with them. read more

I am still baffled by the numerous 5 star reviews for this business. They will use STAPLES to run the camera wiring on the exterior of your house WITHOUT any conduits (pipes) to protect them from the elements. Not only is this ugly, but it will cause the cameras to cut out because the staples damage the wiring. When I confronted them about this, they had the audacity to blame me for not being specific in how I wanted the wiring to be installed. I made the right decision going with Sherlock Surveillance to get my Surveillance camera system installed. I called many of the businesses right here in Yelp and they came by and provided quotes. Some of them were very convincing, but I ended up going with Sherlock. I would say that the decision was initially based on my conversation with Claudia. She was eager to help, but not pushy like some of the other contractors. Claudia explained the capabilities of the technicians, as well as how Sherlock will stand by their work. She talked about how the installation is professional and effective because of the way technicians configure the overall positional design. Once Edgar and Alex came over and discussed how they were planning on doing the installation, I realized that these technicians knew their craft well. This is critical as a good surveillance system is only as good as the way it is setup (I realize that after the fact). The work was extremely professional, my cameras are place all around the house in very strategic areas to have a great coverage. Edgar and Alex routed all wires in a way to never be obtrusive or stick out in any un-flattering way. They are flexible on the way you want to go with the package (either you buy your own equipment or Sherlock will provide a system), they helped me immensely on picking the right system, I was overwhelmed sifting through all the technical pros and cons, until Claudia pointed me to the perfect Lorex system....thank you Claudia, I love it .... I also am going to send their good name to my friends in the "neighborhood" app we all use to share local information. I found this company through Yelp. I contacted Ilan to install a Lorex video surveillance system that I purchased on Amazon.com. He responded quickly with a quote, and he gave me an installation date for the following Monday. His installation guy came on time, we agreed on the camera positions, and he went about his business over next few hours. I did the network configuration for the DVR in advance, so I cannot rate the installer on that aspect. We hired Sherlock Surveillance for our home security project. Claudia responded to my initial request quickly on a Sunday morning, and gave me a quote the next day. She was very patient and answered all my questions regarding the cameras they supply and installation. Josh and Derek did a fantastic job for the installation and testing the system, Ilan was on site on the first day to make sure everything run well. Since they worked on the wires in the attic, I smelled dust and some weird stuff once AC was on, they were able to come out the next day to re-check everything and assured me nothing was wrong. They also adjusted one of the cameras to avoid the nigh vision glare. Paul was patient and nice and he gave me a detailed walkthrough on the NVR setup. Some of our cameras didn't record, after I reached out to the support, Ilan and Paul both replied and troubleshooted the issues remotely. The project took much longer than anticipated and they stuck around 4 extra hours getting everything set up. They installed conduits for all the cameras which added a lot of complexity over their original quote, but the final price stayed the same. The owner Elon was really helpful getting the monitoring set up and even helped me with a tricky issue with a nanny cam in the house that I couldn't access outside my home network. Everything was fully cleaned up when they left and has worked real well over the last week.
