In the initial walk-through, Mr. Singh suggested adding one more camera to get proper coverage, which I ordered directly. Both Mr. Singh and his partner were careful while working inside and removed their street shoes before coming in, which we really appreciated. He also went beyond the basic installation by setting up some useful custom features. One of the things I love about Sherlock is they are flexible with materials. I choose to provide my own cables since I wanted to use CAT6A and my lockbox. Sherlock is also able to install cameras that you buy which is quite rare to find. For the site visit, Ilad was very knowledge and friendly and made sure job was going to be done right. He came on the first day to check and verify things before the work began. The technicians Edgar & Alex were very friendly and hard working. The job took a day longer than estimated but they were able to finish everything. They came early in the morning and left after sunset. In the end I got everything running smoothly. Positives: when he actually did show up, he performed the installation thoroughly and made manual adjustments to all our exterior cameras until we had the desired field of view on each one. He also did a professional job neatly tacking all the camera cabling to the house. Camera system works very well, and he's a pleasant young guy - BUT... Negatives: 1. He no-showed us on the first appt.and it took multiple calls/emails/txts to reach him for a resked date. When he finally returned our call, he said the equipment hadn't arrived yet, but, apparently, didn't feel it was necessary to let us know that we didn't need to wait for him all morning. 2. One of the reasons we picked the system we did was because it came with a smartphone monitoring app that allows the homeowner to see what the cameras are seeing from any remote location with internet connectivity. While we can see what the cameras see when we're IN the house using the app, it does not connect to the DVR anywhere beyond wi-fi range of our house. I called him on FOUR times over the subsequent 6 weeks about this issue, and not only did he NOT return our calls, he did not offer a fix of any kind. The app, as it is, is completely useless to us. 3. Part of the deterrent value of any security system is the signage that lets people know that such a system is in use. He forgot the signs on the install date, and despite multiple attempts to request that he send them to us (as he'd promised to do before he left), he never returned our calls and we've never received any signs. 4. He billed our c/c before the work was completed. Bottom line: We did NOT get what we paid for. Drew is a competent, if unprofessional, technician that, as some other reviewers have commented, is spread too thin to do his work AND run a business. While I would certainly recommend the Alibi camera system to anyone, I would NOT and will not recommend General Pro Security to anyone.

The written scope did not include infrastructure planning, signal design, or custom fabrication. The work requested was limited to: Mounting three TVs In-wall cable concealment on two TVs using existing wall paths/media boxes One new in-wall outlet (clearly called out and requested to be included in the quote) No drywall repair, no structural work, no permitting Despite this clearly defined written scope, the estimate was later characterized as covering "custom mounting," "infrastructure planning," and other items that were not part of the work requested and were never discussed. The quote came in at roughly 10× higher than multiple other licensed and insured installers for the same scope. The public response provided appeared to be boilerplate and did not address the specific written scope. It even referenced "[X] years of experience" without a number filled in, which suggested the response was copied without reviewing the details of this project. Before deciding, I verified licensing through the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) using the business name listed on their website. The CSLB records show the associated contractor licenses as expired, with a status stating the license is "expired and not able to contract at this time." Screenshots are included. For additional context, California limits unlicensed or handyman work to projects of $1,000 or less. Being quoted $5,000 for this scope made the pricing and justification even more difficult to reconcile. Experience and tools matter, but pricing and representations should align with the actual written scope of work and current licensing status. Attention to details matter as well, not clearly understanding the SOW, rushing quotes, and replies. Replying without understanding the issues. I will not being doing business with Basil as trust is important. I recommend getting multiple quotes, keeping scope in writing, and independently verifying license status before proceeding.
