My son bought some posters in NOLA while on vacation that needed framing. I've always gotten their coupon in the mail, so we decided to try them. Other frame shops gave us expensive quotes, but my son doesn't make a lot of money. Surprisingly to us, they were very welcoming, friendly and nonjudgmental about our job. They gave us the options for our job, honored the pricing and told us to return in a week. They did a great job, so we gave them another job when we returned for the pick up and it was all the same. I would always go to Sherman if I lived closer. I currently have six new works at a gallery on Melrose. When I brought them in to Sherman, there was some misunderstanding, and it didn't come out the way I needed it for the show. I was referred to Sherman Gallery by a friend who had a good experience here. I took two pieces here. One was a vintage rendering and the other a monoprint. I took both pieces home and after staring at them for a few weeks, I noticed the matting on the rendering wasn't symmetrical I took it back even though it was hung 100 miles away. The lady who helped me agreed the moment she saw it. She took it in and made it right but it was a huge hassle. There was something bothering me about the monoprint and eventually I realized it was mounted really crookedly. Like a quarter of an inch higher on the right side. Again, I went back and she saw it, agreed and took it in to correct it. The pieces are fine now but I just can't trust this place any longer. The lady was nice enough, never overly friendly or apologetic but ok. And the guys were always extremely aloof. I'm not sure why because their work is not precise or high quality. Highly recommend Sherman Gallery for any custom photo framing needs. I got a gift certificate to Sherman Gallery as a wedding gift to custom frame our Ketubah. I'm so happy that I did! I had never custom frame anything before, and I cannot believe the difference the custom frame had on our Ketubah vs. a generic black one I bought on Amazon. The staff at Sherman Gallery found the perfect gold frame for me that was within my budget (they have a ton of frame options, so the choices are endless!). The frame was done in a timely matter and they gave me the tools and directions I needed to hang the frame expertly on my wall. I've gotten many compliments on my frame. I am shocked by this place. I sent an original painting to Riley Arts Gallery (her Yelp review is pending) in Manhattan Beach. Evidently, they work together and my print was sent to Sherman Gallery as they are the framing company she has a relationship with. Well, weeks later when I hadn't heard from anyone I was told that Sherman Gallery lost my ~$5,000+ gift. They blamed Riley Arts, she blamed them. For the record, the painting is still lost and I have yet to see any resolution from Riley Arts Gallery or Sherman Gallery. I finally had to track down (after three phone calls and messages with my name and number) the male manager. He was so unbelievably rude and mean. This wasn't something I wanted nor was I blaming him but simply asking what had happened. He was condescending, rude, and absolutely did not care about this problem. While, it was not my choice to use Sherman Gallery, I was completely taken aback by their "customer service" and would absolutely never go here nor recommend others do the same. I begged him to keep me in the loop, gave him my phone number, again, and hoped to hear from him after he said he would check to see if another customer took it. That was in the early summer and I haven't heard from them since. If a business can treat someone the way I was treated they don't deserve anything but a one star review. read more

I want to share a horrible experience I had with Sherman Gallery on Lincoln Blvd. I took something VERY important to me and my family to get reframed it included an autograph on the back from Mikhail Baryshnikov. I've had this for over 30 plus years and wanted to preserve it with plexiglass. They completely ignored the instructions and when it was ready the back including the autograph was missing. They threw it out in the garbage. I suggest not using them if you need something done correctly and ESPECIALLY if it's important to you. read more

She was friendly and treated my fiancé very courteously and professionally and made her feel good about the purchase by complimenting her nails. There is definitely negotiation involved in the prices so don't just settle for the first number you hear. First we heard $118 as a late-day guesstimate, but next day it turned out to be about $85-90. There are multiple percentages and add-ons involved almost like buying a used car. It's interesting to see the process and there is a lot of artistry involved... you should give yourself some time to really look through options multiple times instead of just picking things quickly like I tend to do. read more

I had a TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE experience at this place. I spent over a thousand dollars here framing 9 posters. Their prices are very high but I thought it would be worth it for good quality. It was not. When I picked up my frames, some were scratched. They actually tried telling me "it's supposed to look that way." They then said if I had picked up the frames sooner they wouldn't be scratched because they sat in a bin too long. The one reviewer on here who called them "pretentious" is correct. They are not friendly and act like you should be honored that they are doing work for you. I will take my framing elsewhere from now on. read more

Over the years I have had artwork framed at Sherman Gallery, always done well. Because we moved from the Marina, I took a 100 yr old painting that had separated from its ancient frame to Aaron Bros in Culver City, where they told me I would need a new frame starting at about $260. If I waited a week, there would be a sale and it could be done for half that amount. I decided to check out what Sherman Gallery would charge for the repair. Guess what -- Andy at Sherman Gallery said I did NOT need a new frame and the whole thing could be put back together for $20. Hmmm, let's see, Aaron Bros for $100-200 plus or Sherman Gallery? I can not accurately describe the satisfying experiences I have received at the Sherman Gallery without mentioning their extremely knowledgeable, professional and friendly assistance I have encountered at this unique art framing concern. Sometimes, I forget it is a business due to the welcome friendly atmosphere they always reflect. I could go on and on about all the assistance they have provided for me throughout the years, but I just feel I am fortunate as an artist to have been able to appreciate, successful and encouraging enthusiasm with framing over two hundred individual images we have accomplished there. There have been times when I've need advice on developing a certain appeal and they never failed to offer innovative suggestions and collaborating with alternative ideas. I have never been disappointed with either their work or enthusiasm for any aesthetic assistance. Its amusing, but I sell more imagery when clients know it has been framed by them.
