I have to say. I have really tried to give it a good shot before I came in an updated my review but it is what it is. There's a few reasons for my one star. 1. They never open on time. I like very close and I work from home and like everyone else, have a schedule . I have made several attempts to catch them as they open and get it in out first thing in the morning but out of the 5 or 6 times that I have pulled up at 9:30, they have never been open. It's not until 9:50ish that a van will pull up and everyone files out and rushes to get to their 930 clients . So your nails really are not getting started til after 10. If that's the case I would have just made a 10am appointment . That's just me. If I show up at 9:30, I expect to be able to sit down by at least 935 2. It's bad enough you are late to open, then this attitude is consistent ! I have yet to have a friendly encounter with the owner / front desk receptionist or a technician At this point it wouldn't matter how well they can do my nails if I can't get in seat on time and have to deal with rude behavior In the process. read more

I had a really disappointing experience here. I was seated at a collapsible folding table and chair, the kind you'd normally see at a party, which immediately made me question the setup and cleanliness. During my service, my cuticles were cut and then a chemical product was applied directly onto the area. It started burning almost immediately. I wasn't warned that this might happen, and it was pretty uncomfortable. When something is applied to an open cut, I feel like there should at least be some communication or care taken. I'm not someone who usually leaves negative reviews, but I think it's important for people to be aware. I left feeling uneasy about the sanitation and overall professionalism. Everything went well and I like the fact that one person says your toes and your nails so you don't have to run around and give this one a tip that one a tip another one a tip and I use Norma there and she is fantastic and then there's so many times and I've never had a problem at all and my nails always look great and she just redid her whole shop over very nice. I have been going to Sherry's for over 2 years. The owner is the rudest owner I have ever encountered. It's not just that you wait 30 minutes for your appointment. They are rude to you while you wait, then decide to charge $18 more than the normal price and have the nerve to tell me that everyone has to pay this every three months. I have never had my nails done anywhere over my lifetime and was told I have an $18 up charge. I will never step back into this nail salon. I should've listened to my girlfriend who told me that she can't go to this salon anymore and give her hard earned money to the owner, who is rude. I know I don't do nail art. I just do French, but I guess I'm not giving her enough money so unless you're doing nail art expect to be treated less than human in this nail salon. I once owned a business also and you cannot treat people the way this owner treats people and keep your clients. TL;DR it's so dirty and they're not friendly. I went there for the first time, made an appointment in advance, and got the youngest/most inexperienced person doing my nails. No one looked up or said hello, welcome, nothing...didn't ask how my service was. I'm really not picky. My nails came out ok. They asked if I wanted a pedi too and I had to say no after I saw the place. Everyone raves about it, which is why I tried...but Is everyone going to just ignore the fact at how dirty this place is? I couldn't get over the amount of crud, splatter, garbage, and just crap everywhere. Not to mention the quality of tables and chairs were sub par. Got my nails done beginning of March and they did not last even 3 days. It broke clean off didn't hurt of anything bc they were not prepped right. The owner was kind to my son and I but I do not care for her techs not no bit. The lady who did my nails, Lisa/ Lilly, did not prep properly and she knows she didn't, it's a step needed so they last and DO NOT LIFT, she was rushing but they came out cute and I got many compliments. However, bc of the improper prepping they broke easily and lifted. I paid $100+ tip. That's regular for me, but last time I paid that much my nails lasted 5 weeks not one lifted. They looked so damn good when I left Sherry's, but it was all an illusion. Them things started breaking, I called the salon, Sherry remembered me and said come in the girl will fix it. When I came sherry was annoyed but I could careless about anyone's attitude on anyday, esp. after spending that amount. But I must say on both occasions she looked stressed out. Anyways, I sat, got the same tech and she had an attitude, like girl you no damn well you didn't dehydrate my nail beds right before applying the full Gel set. I have a mouth on me but bc the owner was kind and seemed stressed I just bit my tongue and said I won't be back. After getting them fixed, a week later they started lifting one by one. Even my 10 year old was like now that's not right. I hadn't been here in years bc they previous owner was so prejudice acted like they didn't even want to touch me. Cultural things for them. This is why I usually go to Queens to get my nails done. I'm was tired of doing that and decided to try Sherry's, I was referred and it's down the street. But the hood is always better and I'm sticking beside it. Long Island anything is always cutting corners, they think we're dumb out here and do anything and overcharge. Especially in neighborhoods like this. Queens is way cheaper and better job and they LISTENNNNN... It's worth the drive. Plus down to earth ppl and nail techs bc they deal with all different kinds of ppl always. No attitudes, like most LI nail salons give. More diverse salons show so much love.. I've never been to a good nail salon in West Islip ever anyways, and usually my bad experiences were bc the owners n techs had thee audacity to be prejudice. Might start back going to the mall, when I don't feel like the drive, they used to be the bomb dot com and never ever lifted. But never again will I go anywhere else or here. $100 and my nails were plain gel polish too!!!! I'd get the works in Queens WHICH MAKES PPL TIP MORE. I have never given any establishment any other rating except for a five star before. I am so upset. Actually took 3 hours of my day off to get a manicure. Called to see if I could make an appointment And Sherry on the phone said to come in. So I go out of my way and I drive to the nail salon, which I heard good things about. I walk in and the place is packed. I'm waiting for a whole hour and they're prioritizing other people who just randomly walk in before me. All of this would be fine except what happens next. I go to get a gel powder( with tips )manicure. I sit down to get my nails done by Annie. I show her the picture of the nails I want, and she starts shaping them. It hurts & she's gripping my fingers so hard and hurting me while pushing my cuticles in. I get manicures often and this is not how it's supposed to feel. The shape is so ugly (see picture below of original shape) and tell her I don't like the shape to make it more like the pictures I showed her in the beginning ( more narrow& sharp instead of big Ovals) I asked her two times to fix the shape. She does not fix the shape. The whole thing takes way too long. I'm feeling really uncertain about my nails and consider not saying anything . At this point, I am finally finished with my nails and I go to Sherry to pay. When she tries to charge me $60 that's when I decide to say something- because if I'm paying $60, they should be what I want! Plus I'm not a horrible human being and I always tip generously so my total cost would be above $60. I tell Sherry I don't like them and she tries to fix them and tries to make them more narrow in the process she files off parts of the color. I point out that the color was blotchy now, she said and I quote, well it's because you're changing the shape. I literally never got the shape I wanted to begin with. I was so disappointed. Then Sherry tells me I'm wasting my money getting gel powder and she tells me about this other cheaper product she has, AFTER THE FACT. I hated the shape so much that I went home gave up and filed them coffin/square shaped by myself. read more

Ok, so I have been going to this nail salon for about 2 years now, and today was my last time. When I first started going here, I was using any manicurist they decided to give me, but then I got my nails done by Anna, and I was really happy with her work. So from there on out, she was my girl. During one visit, I was getting my nails done by Anna, and I passed out and awoke to a customer putting cold compresses on my head as well as putting alcohol under my nose. Sherry, the owner, was very helpful, and ever since then, she was fairly nice to me whenever I returned. I even brought cookies for the staff just to show my appreciation. So as weeks, months went by. I noticed she was quite moody and showed attitudes to quite a few customers including my mother who usually comes eith me and uses Eva. Even me sometimes, but I know firsthand how hard It is to work with the public and brushed it off. While receiving my beautiful manicure from Anna 4 weeks ago, she told me that she will be going on vacation for 50 days starting July 19th. I told Anna I would probably use Ivy since they sit next to each other, and I witnessed all the work she did as well. Anna agreed Ivy was a good choice. Fast forward to this past Sunday. I called the store and asked Sherry if Ivy was working on Wednesday since I had the day off. She said Ivy was off and she would schedule me with another manicurist. But I really wanted Ivy, so we scheduled a 2pm appointment on Thursday. My job asked me to work on Thursday, so I called Sherry once again on Tuesday and told her I would like to come in Wednesday with anyone but CoCo. We made an appointment for Wednesday at 11am. Sooooo today is the Wednesday, and I choose my colors and sit down to wait. 20 minutes later Sherry asked what color I chose. I told her I have a picture with a design that I wanted, so I had 5 colors I would need. She grabbed each sample one by one with such force as if I was bothering her and sensed a huge attitude. No big deal bushed it off. Waited another 10 minutes, then she said to sit in her chair, that she would take the old polish off. Now I had her do this a few times prior, and she was very rough and very pushy with my hands, so I expected nothing else. Another customer came to the counter to pay and mentioned they were unhappy with a few nails a manicurist did, so she walked away and fixed the lady's nails while I sat there for at least another 15 minutes. No big deal. She returns and asks to see the picture of my design. I told her I wanted everything the same except for tiny eyeball. She told me why did you pick this design if you don't want it. (I will insert a picture to show how tiny the eyeball is) I told her it was my choice and I liked the design because it is Fun! She said its to many colors. Why don't you choice a different one. WAIT! First of all, it's my nails, and second, no one asked for your opinion. How dare you! I've seen countless people sit I'm these chairs for hours with alot of colors more than me, and she even posted on Instagram these designs. Well I guess it was a day to just be miserable to me and she probably don't care but she just lost a faithful customer that goes there ever 2 weeks for a acrylic fill and spa pedicure. The Good - Their attention to detail is amazing. I showed them a picture of something that I wanted and they executed it so well! I got regular french pedicure and a gel full set with artistic design. This ran be $28 and $85, respectively. The Bad - The nails looked beautiful but didnt last long. My french pedicure chipped on the 3rd day and the gel acrylic started to lift on the sides by the 4th day. The Ugly - It is a bit pricy for what you are getting done. This is the second time I waited over a half hour to see the girl I made an appointment with. 2 weeks ago the owner, Sherry took me after 40 minutes. She apologized and did a great job on my nails. I have tried a bunch of nails salon and i have not been happy with one, UNTIL i was recommended to come here! I am blown away with the artwork and the prices that just can't be beat! I wait 3-4 weeks for fill ins and never have to worry about my nails lifting. Anna is a true artist!! I hate to give her name cause i don't want to not be able to get in with her! I liked it. Called and got an appointment easily on a Saturday. Seriously getting my nails done is the only thing I do religiously. Pros: price! This place is cheap compared to my Merrick spot. Also really cool "cat eye" nail polish which is kinda insane (see picture, it moves with the light!). Cons: not sure how clean this place is. I didn't see the woman who did my nails open any blue plastic but I did see the autoclave. Also when I asked if they could soak my nails (as I had gel) she seemed annoyed and called another lady who got acetone and file debris on my pants. No stains so no harm. I'd go back. 55 bucks for cool UV gel cat eye nails AND a good pedicure with callus remover gel, paraffin, and 5 minute foot message. Can't beat that! read more
