The curly-haired guy working here was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, he was the only person working the entire store at 4pm on a Monday so it took me about 45 minutes in line to get one pint of paint. It was also at least 80° inside the store. Several of the customers commented on the wait and lack of employees in the store. I promise it was not just me. This a management or corporate EMBARRASSMENT. Premium paint (and price); LOUSY store. So help me God I will never shop at another Sherwin Williams for the rest of my life. Get your **** together. read more

I have often wondered what mysterious set of circumstances would lead to someone writing a review of something as boring as a paint store. Today I found my answer. Last week, I placed and paid for an order for $15,000 of exterior paint for a new community in Lakeway. It got delivered today and every bucket of paint was 2 shades off. Not bad, but noticeable. I called the store expecting to have to argue with them all day about what the remedy should be. To my surprise, they said, "we'll send a few delivery trucks right now, pick it up and remake it. No charge." Uh what??? This is how you handle mistakes in business. I'm really pleased. I think I'm more impressed with them because of how they handled this mistake than I would have been if they hadn't messed up the paint in the first place. read more

Sherwin Williams paint is the go-to paint used by pros, and they get a hefty discount, so chances are, your paint color is here. They have a mailing list you can get on to receive sale notices that will get you fairly close on price, though the products differ and sales don't always apply to each product. I appreciate the friendly and helpful employees at this particular store. I also appreciate the color sample section that has a variety of design cards that group sample colors into families so you can mix and match paint and decor throughout your house without needing to hire a decorator. I'm going for fail-safe, even though it's just paint. Bonus points awarded for the great customer service that included best pricing strategy for my latest project, and helping me haul the multiple paint cans to my car. I wish I could give a zero. I was getting a small remodel done when it was discovered I was going to need a paint touch up along with a separate project I was doing so I thought I take care of both. I went to Shervin-Williams on Hwy 71 and thought this would be something easy and I told them I was short on time. They did not have a record of the paint I purchased for my project which was touching up cabinets, so I handed them the sample for my wall and told them I needed the smallest amount they had. I thought they would be getting this paint ready while I looked at cabinet paints and tried to figure out the color, but they didn't, so it was still not started when I picked out two samples for the cabinets. The salesperson said it was $10 a sample and I said fine since I wasn't sure which one would match. That is when I noticed they hadn't even started my other paint. The salesperson started wandering around the store, picked up some paint and then kept wandering. Apparently, he had misplaced my sample and it took time to finally find it under a box. Once he found it, he started to match it and apparently didn't get it right the first time, so I had to wait for a second batch. It took at least a half an hour to get this all done. My sales were totaled, and I was kind of floored by the cost, but I need to go so I took it and ran. Come to find out, that quart of paint I got was $30. He cared to ask me about the $10 samples but not the cost of the quart. My bad for not asking but I never thought that small amount of paint would cost $30. I should have gone anywhere else, but Sherwin-Williams and it would have been cheaper. The salesperson seemed not to care, did not have any sense of urgency even when I told him on was on a timeline and then gave me this incredibly expensive paint in which I used less than a fourth of it. I will NEVER go back, and I will NEVER hire someone who recommends that I use them. read more

I came in here the other day with a 5 gallon bucket of paint that was missing the small top on the lid. My previous painter had lost it and plugged it up with a dirty rag. The sales person found a replacement cap. He also checked my paint to make sure it was not ruined and put it on the machine that mixes it up. He carried the paint out and loaded it into my car. All of this was done at no charge and with a smile. They were helpful, courteous and professional. read more

Outstanding service and excellent paint. Gregg and Greg are both super at helping me figure out what I need, mix my colors right, and turn me around super fast. Always. Sure, there can be a line, but it's never more than 5 minutes, and if you know what you want, call ahead. The cost might be 3x the big box, but Sherwin-W is consistent, smooth, professional paint. The guys who work here are friendly and really helpful. Greg made me a paint color from a piece of paper I gave him and then gave me the perfect paint for the project. (And a great name for it ... Makes me smile every time I see it!!) At the hardware store I was getting only vague suggestions and coming home with the wrong thing over and over. He got it on the first try. I've been going to this store off and on for at least 10 years and they have never steered me wrong. And for a little more money they have all the paints I want with no odors. I've been using Sherwin williams for years. We bought 3 quarts in January to be used for touch up as we got our house ready to list. We had already moved and got back to work on the touch up this week and realized that 2 of the 3 colors I bought for touch up were the wrong colors. One of which never in their history had I purchased. We just purchased 2 other homes and I can assure you I will be going to a different paint brand to use. I use all the Sherwin Williams stores in Austin, being a painting contractor. The Oak Hill store is horrible and I try to avoid it as much as possible. Most of the other stores are extremely helpful, but not Oak Hills. They treat customers like second rate citizens. They stand around talking, being on the phone while customers wait without even acknowledging them. It takes 4-5 times calling them on the phone to get them to answer and then they tell you can we have someone call you back, which never happens. I generally call in my orders 30 minutes before heading to the store to pick it up and this is the only store that I get there and wait 10 minutes while they talk to find out they haven't even started my order. The other store in Austin, I walk in and it's ready. I could go on and on, but will just tell you that if you can go somewhere else you will save yourself a lot of headaches. read more

I only gave them one star as the customer service is awful at this location Y71 They are rude , lots of people always waiting and no one seems to be getting served . This is has happened the last three times . I will not go back to this location . They don't care as they don't really have any competition Lowe's and Home don't come close to there paint. I was concerned about coming here, because of some negative reviews, but I did so regardless, because of proximity to my new home. I needed four sample paints to test on my wall. I was in and out in 5 minutes. Great service and they even offered me a discount coupon. I ended up spending $5 per quarter gallon and found the staff extremely helpful. This is the worst paint store ever. They do not stand by their coupons that they email. "40% ALL PAINT AND STAINS" sounds good until you call in the paint and go to pick it up and find out that you can't actually use the coupon on ALL the paint. Save yourself the frustration and go to a paint store that doesn't lie to get customers in their store. read more

This store has horrible customer service. I have been here three times in the last week, and will never be back. All three times were a bad experience. On the first trip, after standing at the counter and being ignored for 10 minutes, I dropped off several paint samples to be matched and was quoted a 30-60 minute wait. When I received no notification after an hour, I called them only to be told it would be another hour. When I received no notification after another two hours, I went in to the store to find my samples waiting for me. Agitated, because I had been waiting to start my paining project and was unable to, I left two additional samples to be matched and asked if I could pick them up the next day. They said that would be fine. I walked in the next day, to yet again stand at the corner and be completely ignored while multiple employees were visibly sitting in the back office shooting the breeze. I asked for my two colors of paint, and the men had no idea what I was talking about. They searched around for about 10 minutes and found my untouched samples scattered randomly on a counter. They gave me the option to wait or come back for the paint. I chose to have them call me when it was ready. After receiving no notification after an hour, I called and they said I could come back for my paint. Today, I made the mistake of returning for some simple painting materials. Needless to say I was yet again ignored. One employee actually walked past me at the counter and would not even look at me or acknowledge me. After yelling "Excuse me," to the same employee that walked past me and being ignored AGAIN, another employee finally came out of the back room. I asked this employee if he could please help me, and was able to check out. All the while another customer was actually standing in front of me to be helped and was also ignored. I will never be back to this store again. Multiple chances only led to multiple negative experiences. read more

I have been in this store several times and not once has someone offered to help me or say they will be with me in a minute, etc. I have been in, spent a few minutes picking out paint samples and left without anyone even making an attempt to help. The final blow was going there to try and get more paint for my house that was just redone on the outside. The people who painted it didn't leave me paint colors, or any spare paint so I wanted some to paint my storage shed and for touch up later. The original paint was made (color match) and purchased a the Cedar Park store so before I went to this store I called the CP store and got the color "recipes" to help speed the process. I sent my husband there to get the paint. He came back with some BS story they had told him about how they couldn't make the same paint because it was made wrong to begin with. What??? They used the wrong base so it is impossible that you have this color paint. What??? Just do it again. It needs to match??? They made it out of the wrong base so it didn't match. Then...when we took it back they said it wasn't their fault and they would gladly make it the same NOW but we still had to pay for the other paint. I'm talking three gallons of three different colors. (House, trim, doors) ALL made wrong. Luckily my shed is far enough from my house that you can't tell it isn't the same color so I just gave up and painted it with what they gave me. I didn't have another $100 to spend on correcting their mistake. I still don't have paint for my house now to do any touch up work down the road though. What a bunch of incapable employees. I suggest you go to Home Depot where the people go out of their way to help you, answer questions, and get the paint CORRECT without being put out to do so. read more
