The staff was great, everyone was nice and tried to be helpful, and I love their historic color options which is why I went there (even though Home Depot's Behr is more affordable and great to work with). BUT I went in to Sherwin Williams for oil based paint in a specific color and they pushed the Emerald Urethane paint for my project talking about it's "superior qualities" and how it's the best product on the market. So they created the color for me and I go to check out - NINETY some dollars per gallon and the stuff covered terribly! If I had known the price, I would never have even attempted it, but to make matters worse, I found the product terrible to work with. Using their recommended paintbrush, it took a minimum of 4 coats (which considering all the trim work I was doing, made the project very slow going.) It also drips terribly and makes the molded corners look muddy. The only way for me to avoid that was to almost dry brush those areas which then required even more than 4 coats. Even now after several touch ups, it has not coated the cabinet evenly or smoothly. Then, because of all the coating and re-coating, I had to buy more of the stuff (rather than switch to the oil based I had wanted the whole time because I was over midway through the project.). Heartbroken at the wasted time and sooo much expense for a product that was not nearly as effective as a gallon half the price. So sad. : ( read more

Horrible customer service, I came in with paint from an old house to match. It was Sherwin-Williams paint, and they would not match they want to me to buy a whole gallon to patch a small area. Ended up going to Hirshfield because of the horrible customer service at this location read more

WORST. PLACE. EVER. I WOULD GIVE THIS PLACE NEGATIVE RATINGS IF POSSIBLE. The manager, Steve, harassed me for weeks and weeks about picking up a can of paint I didn't need nor want. Weeks prior I had them just do a color match for me for some touch up work around the house. The worker ended up making a whole can of it instead of a sample. And so the paint sat. I went and tested the color matches from Menards and Home Depot as well and ended going with Home Depot's product. Menards never called me harassing me to buy a product I didn't want or need but this store, Sherwin Williams in Maplewood on Beam, called me EVERY WEEK to harass me about buying a product I did not want. After weeks of harassment the manager finally left a message saying they will seek legal actions if I didn't come in to buy the product I no longer want or need. I ended up going on to buy the can of paint to get them off my back and to stop harassing me. Yelp is only my first stop, you can believe me the internet will hear about this ridiculous incident. A Fortune 500 company wanting to take an average Joe like me who didn't make the poverty level in last years taxes to court over a $30 can of paint. Job well done Sherwin Williams. Went in to just look at colors but ended up buying all my paint that trip because after looking at their color selection and talking with the the employees I knew that there was no where else I was going to get that high quality of a paint with a great price! They even had a sale going on that I didn't know about. The manager was nice enough to tell me and give me 30% off!!! Not sure what Drugs Jeremy A is on but the staff at this store was very helpful and greeted me right as I came in. They even save the colors I chose in their computer system so if I ever forget what I bought they can look it up. I'm always going back to this store for any painting needs I have.
