Stay away from Montereau!…read more If I truly spelled out all of the issues we had with Montereau, this post would be so long that you'd give up half way through. So I will briefly spell out four factual disappointments (not an opinion -- these are things we actually experienced!). One: When my dad was living there, Montereau had troubles with their boiler which resulted in the water faucets (kitchen, bathroom, and shower) getting clogged DAILY. A maintenance person interrupted my dad DAILY to clean out the faucets so he had running water. Two: The food was horrible! Three: The care that was promised was not good, particularly on the weekends. When my dad moved from independent living to assisted living, the care was even worse! Four: Our experience was so bad at Montereau that we finally moved my dad to a different assisted living venue. It took well over a year to get my dad's deposit back. During the entire process, Montereau NEVER communicated a thing. My sister and I had to be deliberate on contacting Montereau regularly, trying to determine the status of his refund. Once his apartment was leased, it took Montereau over 60 days to send a check. Montereau was a miserable experience not only for my dad but also for my sister and me who had to interact with the staff there, including the president. Service was poor and communication was non-existent. If I could give Montereau zero stars, I certainly would!

Based on that commitment, we gave up a confirmed spot at another facility. At the last minute, we were informed that Montereau could no longer accept him because they chose to prioritize an internal patient. This left us scrambling with no placement and created unnecessary stress and risk for our family member. I understand that capacity and priorities can change, but once a patient is accepted and a transfer is scheduled, families rely on that commitment to make critical care decisions. I would strongly encourage better communication and more responsible admission practices to avoid putting other families in this situation. This experience raises serious concerns about reliability and how external patients are prioritized versus internal ones.

We recently visited family members at Asher Point. I don't want to disparage the previous facility…read morethey were in, but Asher Point is hands down the winner for amenities, care, and even value. The grounds are expansive and the facility is so open, it feels like a newly-renovated hotel. They had a game room with a billiard table and poker table, checkers, etc. The exercise room has windows for natural light and a good variety of equipment. The dining area is large and open and there was a large piano in the corner for some music while you dine. We were visiting a married couple. One has physical disability issues and the other has cognitive decline issues. They are both able to communicate quite well, and they are very pleased with their care. Their room has three times the storage of the last facility. They also have a separate bedroom and a living area with a small kitchen with plenty of cupboard storage. They have a small balcony with a bird feeder attached to the railing and a beautiful view of the park area next door. Asher Point is right by the river, and there are mature trees as far as the eye can see. The only real drawback is that there isn't a direct walkway to cross the river; you need go down a little ways before crossing. We had a nice visit in the private conference room next to the dining area. Every staff member we encountered was polite and friendly. I'm a bit of a neat freak and I felt the facility was very clean and well-maintained. It's never easy to find assisted living for a loved one, but if you're in that phase of life, I genuinely recommend you check out Asher Point. They can't be at home and get the care they need, but I'm very relieved to see how well they are taken care of at Asher Point. Check it out - you won't regret it.

Based on this assessment, I put down a substantial amount of money including a deposit and first month's rent. When I notified the hospital of my father's post-discharge plans, the hospital assured me his condition was far too complex to be handled at Asher Point (then Prairie Rose). They also mentioned this facility has a reputation for taking patients that require care beyond what the facility can provide. Within 24 hours of my payment, I texted Megan and notified her that my dad would no longer go to the facility as the hospital had advised against this. She assured me that I would receive my payment back, but it has now been over 5 months and I still have no received any payment or communication. It's egregious that they took thousands of dollars from my parents at a time he needed those funds for critical care. Please do not trust this facility if they tell you they can handle your loved one's level of care. Please don't write a large check to them before consulting with your loved ones physician. Megan came across as very compassionate and caring, but I see now that it was all for money. She just wants to tout residency and occupancy rates - at the expense of elderly people and trusting families.

I lost my mother from Alzheimers after being neglected and abused by this facility and their long…read moreterm care group, Incare. my dad continued to live in his home there independently after my mother passed. Prices kept going up while food and other services got increasingly worse. No one came to fix things wrong at his home including flooding in the house every time it rained. We lost my dad in Jan. of 26 due to illness. After being at St. Francis, Covenant told us they would take my dad for rehab. They even sent me a confirmation and room number. The next day they backed out because a higher up told the social worker they didn't like my dad and voided it all. This was done to my dad as a member of their "community" out of spite. Since there were no other options for rehab, we lost him a few weeks later. Please find another facility for your loved one or yourself, don't be fooled by how this place looks on the outside.

Re: CCWH IN Tulsa, Oklahoma…read more I wouldn't board my dog here. My mother's apartment became infested with BEDBUGS at least a year after she moved in. My mother was forced to pay $1000 for bedbug treatment; the bedbugs came back (another $1000 treatment), which is understandable since the housekeepers use the same vacuum cleaner going from apartment to apartment, and bedbugs live in the walls & carpet. The general manager insists on blaming my mother for the infestation. It's illogical. This is the only bedbug issue she's had in her entire 94 years. My mother spoke of other people on her floor having bedbug problems too. There is a tiny clause hidden in the leasing agreement (which is 45 pages long) releasing CCWH from responsibility for bedbugs. How convenient...Reminds me of a Slum Lord. Because of this, my mother moved out as quickly as possible due to bedbug bites. All her furnishings/personal items were left due to the high probability of the infestation traveling to a new locale. All of her personal items, including treasured family photos & heirlooms had to be left for trash. When mom left, CCWH was given short notice, less than the required 60 days because she was getting bit by the bedbugs. CCWH has now turned this over to a collection agency. They are seeking $16,000 which is more than 4 times the monthly rate! We requested arbitration 2 months ago as required by CCWH lease. The request was ignored by CCWH. On a side-note, mom paid $900 (CCWH price) to get her balcony screened in. She was then not allowed to use the screened in balcony as it was considered unsafe. CCWH locked the balcony door from the inside of her apartment so she couldn't even open the door for fresh air. The weekend mom moved into the apartment, the lady above mom overran her bathroom sink because couldn't turn the water off. The water came through the ceiling and ruined all the Sheetrock in mom's bathroom. It took 10 days to fix the problem; mom couldn't use her own bathroom in the apartment! Mom is now forced to hire an attorney to handle this issue. Look elsewhere.

They remodeled the common areas within the last two years and it looks amazing. I really can't exaggerate on the staff, especially Amy (in sales). I would recommend this if you're looking for independent senior living for a loved one. (Fairly reasonable, too!) (The only issues I hear about is that the food is sometimes too institutional.)
