These guys were great as always. We needed their help with a property in Aiea that was completely overgrown with neglected trees, a banyan too close to the house, palms planted right next to a slab, trees overhanging the roof and causing moisture and decay problems on the roof. My wife went through all the trees and areas that needed trimming and they did an amazing job over the course of 3 days. They asked us to visit on the third day just to ensure that we were happy with everything! We totally were. They even worked with our new neighbor and removed some stumps for them at a great price to build up goodwill (grinding the trees makes a lot of noise). The neighbor was so happy that they got the stumps removed that they allowed Sherwood to move in some of their equipment using the neighbors access so they could get to some of the trees further back in our property. Overall it's a win-win situation - I'm happy, the neighbors are happy, and Sherwood has another great success. All debris was removed and cleaned up, and they had moved anything breakable out of the way prior to doing any trimming. read more

I have a small rental property that was overgrown with Areca palms and money trees. There was also a large mango tree stump that another tree service had not effectively removed. It took two days, but Sherwood's did an outstanding professional job removing several trees and cutting back other trees. They took extra care to not disrupt a tenant that had a panax hedge that needed trimming. Their stump grinding left the soil smooth and ready for new plants to grow in. These guys are really professional with the heart of the best kind of family business. Sherwood Jr. was great to work with, good communicator and quick to respond to all my questions and requests. The first time I worked with them, years ago, they removed a 40-foot Norfolk pine stuck in a hard to reach corner and did a perfect job. Very professional, they obtained the proper permit and gave notice to those parked on the road alongside our property. Shearwood was hired to trim some trees out of a house that we were moving out of. We were still in the process of moving out when their crew came. Most of her items removed from the house but we still have some items in the living room in the garage. When we returned we noticed the side doors open and my daughters 5 gallon bottle of coins that she's been saving since birth were missing as well as all of my battery operated hand tools from the garage. When we check the neighbor surveillance cameras, it showed that Shearwood crew entering our property and removing the items. At lease we still good for a few more days. And they were not authorize to enter the house. When I contacted the owners of the tree trimming company he admitted that he hires some subcontractors to a company who hire convicted felons for the smaller jobs. He profusely apologized and asked I don't call the police and he will reimburse me for the item stolen. As fair estimate was $1000. Months went by and I never received payment from Shearwood, he quit taking my phone calls. After I threaten to call the authorities almost a year after the incident he sent me a check for $250 and told me take it or leave it, I would not trust this company to be on your property without supervision read more

The first time I used Sherwood's was back in the late 80's. I was extremely satisfied with the work from back then. I have since then (mid 90's) had them come back every 3-4 years to trim my mango tree. They still do an excellent job. I especially appreciate how much effort they put into cleaning up afterwards. The only drawback is they are extremely busy. So they might not get to you when you need them to. But it was well worth the wait. read more

Sherwood Jr. was very professional when he came out to do an estimate for our overgrown family mango tree. We quickly received clear communication about the cost, timeline, and what we would expect. They even took the extra steps to obtain a permit and placed signs so that street-parked cars could make arrangements to park away from the work area. When the day came to do the trimming, Sherwood Jr. arrived ahead of the crew to make sure we were prepared to have persons enter our property and that the area for them to work was cleared. I had a very large monkeypod tree over 50 years old that we decided to remove from our yard. I got 3 quotes, but went with the highest bid because it was just a couple hundred difference and they also were referred to me my people I respect. I was impressed with their equipment, knowledge, experience and expertise. I also liked that it was a family business of 3 brothers, carrying on their father's business. Absolutely no problems, they cleaned up the area and when it came time to pay, they were a hundred dollars cheaper than quoted. They also delivered the wood to a mill to recycle the large trunks. They came and cut down our lychee and puakenikeni tree and used a stump grinder so that the job was complete. This was more than three years ago. They did such an excellent job that my neighbor hired them too to cut down his "very large" mango trees. Very professional, all in the family, so they have a vested interest in doing a good job. Had Sherwood prune a number of trees as well as remove one entirely. This family business was professional and curteous. A one-and-a-half day job, they cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day. Noteworthy was their effort to selectively prune crossed branches, sprouts going awry, and selectively thinning out banyans, rubber trees, and our Christmas berry. Highly recommended. Called them for a quote - initially good response time...and was BLOWN AWAY when someone answered after 6:30pm as I was expecting an answering machine, but got a live person instead. However, only reason I was calling at that time 1) Because I was working and can only call when I get home. 2) Their estimator who came out to give us a quote and tried to follow up on his cell, but never responded to my call and had to follow up with the main office. Plus their price was a couple hundred $ higher than another company... And that company I went with has a Certified Arborist, and BTW that tree service did an AWESOME job on our mango tree!! read more
