It's big and well-established - They seem equipped to do a huge range of things for women, above and beyond the other places. They also were much cleaner, spiffier, and were twice the size of any other place I passed by. The salon's also been used for women on some of the makeover TV shows. 2. Great, helpful staff - Really friendly, and I liked them a lot. They gave me a lot of pointers about the area, which I really appreciated. 3. Fluent English speakers - I know it's the Bronx, but three places I'd visited nearby struggled to answer me when asking "can you give me a haircut?". Seemed like decent salons, but made me worried about how I'd further convey the "no buzz cut" concept :) 4. Surprisingly good price - $15 for a haircut. 5. Good haircut - My wife approved and liked it. They didn't scalp me or get scissor-happy or anything, I thought it was a good haircut too. I'd recommend this place to women to try out - seems like the best salon place within three miles of here. I'd recommend it to men too.

I was in and out of the salon in about an hour. My hair looked great for a few days straight without having to touch it up myself. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because I feel it was a bit too pricy. They charged me $60 for a blowout with slight curls. Whereas my usual place I pay between 35-45 for the same service. I did love the outcome of my hair though.

I paid my deposits for both of them and showed up at 11am sharp for my appt. I got my hair washed and i was out in the dryer with rollers while i waited for roxan. When my hair was dried, i got my makeup done and Roxan styled another client. After my makeup was done she styled my hair. She was honest about what would work and not work for my hair as my hair is very long but fine. And she added hair and things to make it look fuller. I left feeling beautiful and my son even called me a princess! It's now Sunday night and my hair is still intact, i don't want to undo it because i love it and have been sleeping with a bonnet and it looks exactly the same ! Showed the owner what I wanted and asked if it was possible. Yes Hunny I charge $350 for that. But just know you will have to come a few times, we will not get that first time . So great do you take Zelle or should I go get Cash - no Zelle is fine. I told her that my hair had other processing in it and I would recommend doing a test strand because I didn't want to a bad job. Her response was "oh baby we are Albanians we don't mess up color" - then tells her employee to make a bleach with 30 Volume ( I had no idea how strong this even is & that it isn't even used because it will knock your hair out. She applies this to my head to make highlights she's very talkative and nice - at first. Ohh hunny you have ALOT of hair. Once stuff is in my hair I had to keep asking her to check it because I am no stylist but bleach in hair for over an hour? She checked 4/5 time as per my requested and said coming out beautiful. ( I didn't know she meant hair coming out beautiful as in my hair was being over processed). She has a Hispanic older lady very nice Natty. She has Natty finish her dirty work. Because once she sent her to wash it off and put toner - she never not once even looked at my hair. I can just feel something is wrong and Natty is trying to cover it up and make it seem like everything is alright. Natty asks me if I want to do a mask to help seal my hair, that's an extra $25 - great because who doesn't do mask or deep conditioning after processing hair. The hair mask is supposed to be on your head then a seaming machine - seaming machine kept turning off so the complete process wasn't done. I go to the bathroom after the wash and wow to my surprise my hair was falling out from just touching, the amount of hair I lost yesterday is incredible. The hair was puffy like just soaked felt like a cotton ball. So she now leaves Nice older woman Natty to do my hair the rest of the visit. When Natty started putting my rollers is when I saw all the hair coming out as she brushed. And I was like stop what is going on, when the other realized that she said what what what's the problem? I said my hair, it's coming out - she's like it's like that cause it's WET. You came in here with your hair like that. She's like that's all that processing and flat ironing you do. ( baes my actual hairdresser is a blower beast - no iron needed. At this point my hair super overprocessed hair that not even the drier after 1:30 mins could dry. Poor lady started to try and blow out my hair and it just got worst and worst she make a hand gesture and told her to face me away from the mirror. It was horrible but when it was time to pay she CHARGED ME THE WHOLE $350 + $25 + a miscellaneous Zelle FEE of $12 = $387 total even after the machine didn't work. When I expressed how upset I was she said hunny you come back and I'll do the mask for free ? Huh come back My homegirl comes to this salon and has NEVER has this issue nor a damn ZELLE FEE'd. Her hair color is actual nice and I've never been able to achieve the colors I want. Safe to say I will be sticking to what and who I KNOW because I ran right back to MY hair dresser and she cut my hair and blew it out and told me to just come back and we will get my hair back. I want to emphasize the deep conditioning treatment really works and makes a big difference in the nourishment and moisture of your hair. I recommend all these services, but really emphasize the deep conditioning because I think that is something people generally don't get at salons and the treatment at this salon is very effective & worthwhile. The salon called me to reschedule my daughter's appointment to a later time. My daughter came in wanting a curly hairstyle and had already accepted that, because of her heat damage, she might need a trim. Instead, the stylist, Amanda, recommended cutting her hair into a very short style. I felt there were several other options that could have been discussed first, such as trimming her hair in stages or choosing a protective style. I even asked if there was another style that would allow my daughter to leave the salon feeling confident, but no alternatives were offered. Even a simple sleek-back bun or another creative style would have been better than having her leave with only a blowout. She came in excited for a curly style and left with nothing more than straightened hair. This was actually my second time giving Amanda a chance. For my daughter's prom, I booked a sew-in with her, but on the day of the appointment she was unable to provide the service as scheduled, which was very disappointing. Another issue I have experienced is the booking process. Customers are required to select a service and pay a deposit, but if the stylist later determines that the requested service is not appropriate after you arrive, there doesn't seem to be much flexibility or alternative options. As a customer, that is frustrating especially considering the prices charged. The one stylist I have consistently had a great experience with is Awa. She has always been professional, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Based on my personal experiences, I cannot recommend Amanda. I'm left feeling that there was very little effort to find a solution that met my daughter's needs. A great stylist doesn't just identify a problem they help the client find the best solution. For the prices this salon charges, I expected more creativity, communication, and customer service. Instead, my daughter left disappointed with only a blowout after coming in expecting a curly style. That is not the level of service I expect when paying premium salon prices.

My experience at Harlem Natural Hair Salon was not good, especially for my first time at this…read moresalon. I asked for a wash n go and trim and was told only the back part of my hair (nape) would be cut. My hair is already in layers so that would've meant one section of my hair would be trimmed. I declined and the stylist proceeded to do my wash n go. She did not take time to gently detangle my hair, before during, and after the shampoo. My hair was basically ripped out and I was told my hair couldn't "be defined" because she assumed my hair would be an Afro (as it appears that way when it gets wet). She also said if I keep doing wash n gos I'd never grow my hair, yet my hair was to my chin (stretched) last May and now is past my bra strap, and in this period I styled my hair in wash n gos. However, her assumption was absolutely wrong, I've done wash n gos all the time and my hair was always defined, shiny and bouncy. She took no time to effectively section my hair to style it, so my hair ended up being stiff and dry. Throughout my whole salon experience the stylist remained rude, with a nasty attitude and was not friendly. I would not go back
