I was so shocked to see that shift chiropractic had 4 stars, I signed up for Yelp just to write this review. Everyone that told their honest story before me (search comments by rating low to high) about the snake oil we were sold by Dr. Marco is 100% correct. Still today, he gets away with ripping off poor, unsuspecting people with the same sales pitch for over 5 years. I am embarrassed to say that I too fell for it. I am beyond grateful to have randomly come across an add for Shift Chiropractic. I have always battled anxiety, stress as well as other normal human inconveniences. I felt results almost instantly! I wanted to be back on the table as soon as possible. Well......Long story. I haven't seen Dr. Marco in years. Unfortunately, while under his care I developed what is referred to as cervical instability due to too many high velocity manipulations. I told Dr. Marco that something didn't seem right. I told him there was new crepitus and muscle tightness that didn't seem normal. We'll keep paying and coming in 3 times a week and it'll get better, it must be a disc problem, etc. etc. I've spent well over 30K trying to correct this issue. I am fortunately much better now, but it's been a really long hard road and Im still not 100%. My issue was diagnosed by Dr. Katz in Boulder who used a DMX (Digital Motion X-Ray) to see just how much my cervical vertebrae were moving. Guess what, my facet joints were absolutely wrecked from C2-C6. Laxity all the way down. I particularly had a lot of instability at C-2 C-3 where my facet joints had been stretched to the limit over and over and over and over again. I've since researched a lot on the subject and have had 3 PRP injection treatments at Centeno and Schultz clinic in Broomfield as well as Stem Cell Injections recently. I can tell that the crepitus and pain is slowly subsiding as my facet joints and ligaments heal and tighten back up.................I just want to end with a small request: *****If ANY chiropractor tells you he needs to see you 3 times a week for a 45 second adjustment, you should run out the door as quickly as possible. If your neck wont "hold and adjustment", which is a BS term anyway, for longer than a week, you definitely don't need to have someone cranking on it constantly. If he would have taken 3 minutes to listen to my concerns and taken me seriously, I wouldn't have had to experience 5 years of chronic pain which has been life altering, not to mention the time at PT, Masseuse, Surgeons offices, MRIs, Xrays, etc. Luckily I was smart enough to not go under the knife instantly as I knew my symptoms WERE NOT DISC RELATED as I was told by Marco. Good luck and I would highly suggest you DO NOT let anyone do a high velocity manipulation on your neck.....EVER. I was told this by many doctors, but thought the were full of it. They weren't. So I have always been critical of chiros my whole life growing up around doctors who claim they can be dangerous. I can assure you Dr. Marco is carful and as safe as they come. I have a C-3 C-4 C-5 bulge that continues to come back when I'm active, lifting heavy, golfing, etc. I've been to about 6 chiros in town and 4 different PT offices. No complaints about the other shops. However, none have been able to alleviate my symptoms or get my neck moving correctly. From my personal experience Dr. Marco is the best in the city. I whish I wouldn't have waited this long to get back in to see him. He's magic and very detailed in explaining his approach to helping me move better and pain free. He does have a recommended protocol that may require serval appointments for a week for awhile and tapering down. I always thought this was BS, but now that I've gone down this road 3 times, I'm a firm believe. I assure you I won't slack off on the maintenance again. Pain followed by surgery would have definitely been my path if I wouldn't have been fortunate enough to have met him 4 years ago. After checking in, they insisted I get X-rays and then without checking my neck, he began a sales pitch that I would need to pay for 3 months of chiropractic care with 3 visits per week at a rate of $2100. (Which he explained that he graciously lowered from $3500...how nice!) The sales pitch was beyond pushy. I'm a very strong person so was able to say no over 10 times but I swear he's in business by making people feel so uncomfortable that they finally give in and purchase a "package". So I went into this place in a great deal of pain and just wanted to get adjusted. Over an hour of a sales pitch and X-ray later...I didn't even get adjusted. Also they do not take insurance. My wife and I were first introduced to Dr. Vespa and Shift Chiropractic only four days after she and I were in a nearly fatal auto collision. We were both fortunate to walk away, but walked away with severe whiplash. My rapid recovery was due to the physical shape I was in, my desire to heal and the assistance of Dr. Marco putting my body back into it's proper alignment so I could function properly again. The same is true for my wife. The real lesson I have learned in the last five years as a loyal patron, is yes my whiplash went away, yes I no longer have lower back pain (which I have had since high school), yes I've overcome all of my injuries, but the real lesson I have learned is that my body is designed to thrive and heal itself, just like when I scraped my knee as a kid. As an Electrical Engineer, I immediately understood that if these healing signals cannot get from the brain to the effected part of my body, it's because there is interference somewhere along the nervous system, then the body cannot function properly. Before, I never knew that the reason why my back hurt was because my brain couldn't talk to that area of my body. So, I ultimately gave up and thought that was "normal." I used to think that, "my body is supposed to hurt as I get older." These were limiting beliefs that I had before Shift. I've recognized that the western society that I live in, with hours at a computer, hours in rush hour, continuous physical activity as a marathon runner, with all of these and countless other activities, there is stress applied to the body. This stress can get things out of place, and when a bone or muscle (aka "knot") is out of place it applies pressure on the nearby nerves minimizing or even preventing signals from getting to their destination. I've learned about the signals that control my digestion, the functionality of my organs, the growth and stimulation of my muscles, the circulation of my bodily fluids, my bodies ability to eliminate toxins/waste, and of course the health of my nerves themselves. Overall, I've learned how my body works and why it's worth taking care of. This is why I have remained passionate about my experience with Dr. Marco and the Shift family for the past five years. Not only did they take away my physical pain, but they have taught me how to live a healthier and happier lifestyle, for me and my family. I went in for a free consultation and knowing that I was subject to a sales pitch. I didnt, however, think the pitch would have them not taking no for an answer and with me being angrily and awkwardly told to open up my bank account statements online to prove that i didnt have enough money to pay a years worht of work. My back pain has improved over the past few months. Nick is a very welcoming staff member and they are very organized. However, it is extremely expensive, and they have very limiting hours. They only have service hours on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The sales pitch that he provides in the initial consultation is very pushy. I was convinced that the trigger point workshop and the exercises he would provide later on in the sessions would be more involved. I was not very impressed with that side of the service. I am thankful that my back pain has decreased, but I did not appreciate the constant sales pitch. I was asked multiple times to provide phone numbers for my relatives and friends, when really all I wanted was to relax during my adjustments. They also pressured me to write success stories when I had only had a few sessions. When I didn't write one down, I received some aggressive comments from Dr. Vespa. I recently had my re-evaluation, and the sales pitch was back on to pre-pay more money for the upcoming months. I was originally brought in under the assumption that shift does total body wellness, when he really is just a slick chiropractor. Mostly, I just got insincere vibes despite their consistent efforts to make me happy through superficial interaction. It comes out to $60-$79 per 5-minute session, depending on how you want to pay and they do not bill any insurance companies. Overall, I would recommend going elsewhere. read more

Dr. Marco is not very sincere or helpful, he is a salesperson. Unless you are looking to spend a lot of time and money and be given a big long uncomfortable sales pitch, don't go here. I am very annoyed that this place is allowed to call itself a chiropractic place, as it makes you think it's a place you can go for an adjustment when you really need one. It should be understood that he's trying to sell a membership for his product - something called "zone healing". The entire experience was more like walking into a gym for the first time - sales pitch, plastic smiles and all. I have had chronic back pain for over 6 months, but woke up the other day in extreme pain. I have been to many chiropractors over the years, and usually even one adjustment can really help you out, even though I know it takes many over time to really heal up a broken body. But I was in extreme pain and needed something to at least begin this process. First they wouldn't adjust me until I had X-rays done. I went and did that immediately as I was in a lot of pain and needed an adjustment. Upon my second visit I had to sit in total pain listening to Dr. Marco's sales pitch. When I asked how much it would cost, at first he wouldn't tell me. He made me sit there in total pain and listen to the entire pitch before he'd even tell me the cost. Then I was told I'd have to come in 3 times a week for 3 months to complete the first course of treatment, for a lowered price (from $3500) of just $2100. And then he wouldn't adjust me unless I bought this $2000 package deal. I spent my whole day trying to get an adjustment. I left nearly in tears. I don't have a lot of time and I certainly don't have $2,000 laying around to spent every 3 months on a chiropractor. I totally understand that multiple sessions is important to change and I believe that healing is slow and takes time. But this was ridiculous. People who are true healers, well their work sells itself. People who need to spend two hours trying to convince you why their product works - watch out because there is probably a reason why they need to spend so much time and energy trying to get you to believe them. read more

I've been to three chiropractors since I separated a rib from my vertebrae about 10 years ago. The first chiropractor was close to my home, but he didn't work out and caused more problems than were bring addressed. I was recommended to another Chiropractor who helped sort out my issues, but he moved to Panama, leaving without a decent doctor. I went almost two years before I contacted him and asked for a referral. He recommended HIS Chiropractor when he's in Denver. That is how I found Dr. Vespa. I have nothing but good to say about my experience at Shift. My discomfort has been banished to a distant memory and I'm getting my flexibility back - it's a process. The main difference between Dr Marco and other Chiropractors is he focuses on overall health and how the nervous system interacts with the entire physiology. I started coming to Shift almost 3 months ago due to upper back and neck pain. The pain was causing me migraines, lack of sleep, and pain at work. I've experienced migraines for 6 years, treating them with ibuprofen which clearly was not fixing my problem. I tried massage, acupuncture, yoga, and while these helped I still wasn't feeling 100% until I decided to try chiropractic. It was a bit of an investment for me but worth it for the outcome I received. Dr. Vespa paid close attention to the areas of my body that were in pain. Not only is he very educated and precise with his work but is very kind. First and foremost do not believe these reviews on Shift, I am sure some might be genuine but the rest are definitely auto generated by the practice. I was looking for a new Chiropractor, and I wanted someone close, reliable, and good. I have been burned by many Chiropractors in the past and was looking for an actual doctor not a sales pitch. I first called the office and informed the office of an injury, I have had this injury many times before and know that an adjustment can fix the pain almost instantly. I was in a lot of pain this day so I requested that even though I was doing a consultation I wanted to be adjusted same day, the receptionist assured me that should not be a problem. I spent an hour and a half, taking quizzes, reading pamphlets and being spoken to like a child (literally drawing pictures of my brain and my spine and quizzing me on questions). I then got to see the doctor for like 5 min and he asked me all the same questions over again. When I asked him about the adjustment he refused to do it. Said he wanted to see me first thing in the morning. My time is my money, so for someone to take an hour and a half of my time then ask me to miss work in the morning, this was a lot for me. I decide to give it a chance anyway as I was in serious pain and made a follow up the next day in the afternoon. Again was pulled into a room ( NOT WITH THE DOCTOR) talked to like a child, accused of being EXTREMELY Unhealthy ( mind you I do yoga 6 days a week and am an active runner), then was told I needed to pay for 3 adjustments up front just to see how I take to adjustments, then I could finally get my health plan. Never saw the doctor once on this day. The sales pitch was so thick, the biggest ounce of bullshit I have ever heard and keep in mind I have been burned by chiropractors before. I literally got up and walked out. I calmly and collectively told the lady giving me the pitch my concerns, to which she could give me no real answers. My anxiety in this office was higher than it ever was before I got there. Over all it was a huge waste of time and I never really even got to see a doctor or get adjusted. When I got up and walked out I anticipated I would maybe receive a call or an email apologizing for this agonizing experience. But received nothing. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. Beware of this place, it is a scam. They offer a discount rate for a consultation, which they lead you to believe includes an adjustment, but IT DOES NOT. The doctor says he cannot work on you until you get xrays, BUT THEY DONT HAVE AN XRAY MACHINE THERE. I too am surprised by any negative comments/reviews here. My story, I have had two neck surgeries since 2007 and and was on my way to a third one. My amazing surgeon, Dr Jeffrey Kliener referred me to a chiropractor to see if we could avoid another surgery at this time. I felt that Dr Marco was very interested in getting me better. His energy is amazing and sincere! I was always leery of chiro care but hell I am up to anything to help with my health these days. After initial X-rays, 3 months of intense care and follow up X-rays, we are just thrilled with my results. My spine is in better health, I am in less pain, in my numb fingers since 2007 I am having sensations in them, albeit not good sensations. (waking up a dormant nerve since then I guess), taking slightly less meds, more pep in my step and not always thinking about my hurt neck. I cannot thank Dr Marco and Nick enough. As I move into my maintenance portion of my care, I only wish I would of started seeing Doc years ago but at least I am going in the right direction. He also has helped me with my plantar fac. on my foot so my improved health is not only limited to neck issues. I am so sad to see people complaining about Shift Chiro and Dr Marco Vespa. His very thorough approach and very sincere methods have helped me so much, I would even say he has saved my life... quality of life that is!! Reading that people are discouraged about getting X rays baffles me, they want a quickie fix and the fact that Dr Vespa would not do that prooves he is a professional. He needs to see what is going on internally and then discuss with you the best method of treatment. I also feel it is sad that people say this is a scam, a big sales pitch and they were spoken to like a child. I felt as if I was explained to as someone who knows nothing about how important a healthy spine is and they did not want to leave out any incredibly important information. There are so many health providers who keep you in the dark, do not let you have an active role in your health care and never explain. I experienced a completley different treatment then what these negative reviews below complain about. I was greeted with warmth, compassion, lots of information so I could make informed decisions. Nick (office manager, who is AMAZING!!) was always incredibly flexible with my very busy schedule, allowing me to re schedule, accommodating missed appts when I was traveling and overall so nice throughout my entire treatment. Now onto my actual treatment. When I started with Shift, I was in pain every single day, I took sleeping pills every night and had a horrible lower back and Psiatic nerve pain every single day that I got out of bed. I had chronic headaches and so much trouble sleeping due to anxiety. During my treatment, I was not only given adjustments, but we spoke about Diet, exercises that I should and should not be doing, lifestyle and stress levels and overall huge amounts of great advice given with sincerity and compassion. I am only 4 months in and even within first month I was improving. I cuurently have no pain (unless I work out hard and or overwork my back) I have not taken nor do I need to take a sleeping pill. I am sleeping soundly, my anxiety is all but gone. my digestion system is so healthy. my stress levels at the lowest they have ever been and my job is just as stressful as it was before. I feel stronger, wiser, and overall so much healthier. I paid a lot yes upfront (they give many payment options by the way with avail discounts!!) but if that amount were broken down into time, and how many adjustments, advice, visits I have made at Shift, that rate is beyond fair and even in my opinion cheap in comparison to the amount of care I have recieved. Please ignore the Quick Fix complainers below. you cannot fix any health issue over night, it takes time and energy and dedication from both yourself and your provider. Dr Marco Vespa is incredibly dedicated to helping his patients. I was introduced to Shift during a health fair at my work. I signed up as a patient in March, as I was having shooting pains going down my legs intermittently, but they were becoming more frequent and severe. By my third month of being treated by Dr. Vespa, the pain in my legs was gone! If that were the ONLY thing that was helped by my treatments, it would be worth every penny. But I've suffered from insomnia for several decades, and I'm sleeping better, too. I had also been taking Aleve like it was candy due to frequent headaches, and I've just realized that I've only taken Aleve once this month!
