He maybe a bit "trigger-happy' on ordering tests that should well be left for later on in the diagnostic process. He knows much and I'm sure still sincerely wishes to help his patients. Sometimes, though, he appears to be falling asleep while he types his notes onto his laptop. There is a problem: his staff. Too many doing not much of anything; anything purposeful that is. The Dr. is swamped with many patients; however, there is not any orderly manner in attending to them. His office is truly large enough to accommodate the numbers of patients without any difficulty. The also has difficulty with data entry into the patient's medical demographics system. The patients critical data such as age, address, social security numbers etc. are always entered wrong. This causes problems for the insurance carriers (patients are then held responsible for bills that would normally be paid by insurance). The staff refuses to acknowledge their errors and are rude (that, itself, is an understatement). When test result come back positive for serious illness, the staff never gets in touch with the patients. They may mail these critical results with a delay of 2 to 4 weeks. Most of the time - due to address issues (mentioned above) - you never receive the results. It is almost impossible to contact the Dr. directly. The good Dr., himself, is over-worked and his patients files are left strewn all over his office in piles which are falling over and sometimes block the entrance to his office. I am sincerely disappointed in the overall service and changed physicians.

During the first operation, he made sure to include the entire family on all of the updates (15+ people) and made sure to be very transparent during post-op. All he wanted to do was get home quickly because there was a freak snowstorm and I was his last patient. When I tried to describe my issue, and you don't go to a colorectal surgeon for a hangnail, He just blew me off and said " take down your pants! ". I was laying sideways on a hard examination table with my pants and tight around my knees. No gown. No sheet. No nothing! Needless to say I got out of there as quickly as possible and made an appointment with a different colorectal surgeon. Same hospital. Different doctor. Dr. Kelly Garrett. She was at least able to diagnose my problem and send me in the right direction.

Some of the test results are based on where you are in your menstrual cycle. I knew which phase I was in so I pointed that out to him while he was reading the labs. He disagreed with me. After the appt I kept thinking about how he said that. I was so sure that I was right that I got a second AND third opinion from other drs and they both confirmed that I was right. The problem is that completely changes how you read the numbers on the labs. If you can't even get that simple thing right how can I trust you to diagnose me? When i asked him what those numbers could mean he just went off on tangents about conditions that had nothing to do with me. It was a complete waste of time. PS If you have a thyroid issue and have read and align yourself with the stop the thyroid madness website, you may feel the same way as me, that this doctor is not for you.

When seeing the doctor, he was always distracted or in a rush. He would type away on his computer and have an impatient look on his face when I explained the reason for my visit. Also, when I asked him to clarify something and he scoffed, as if it bothered him. The biggest blow up was cancelling and rescheduling my appointments several times. Fernando Pujol or the admin staff would often reschedule my appointments the morning of. There was one time they cancelled and they didn't bother to tell me. I showed up and no one was there. There was a communication error between the doctor's office and pharmacy and Dr. Pujol's office made ZERO effort to help. There was a mix-up somewhere with my prescription, not sure who was at fault, but the pharmacy made several phone calls to Pujol's office--while I was in the pharmacy--and left messages. When I got a hold of the reception at Pujol's office, she explained it was the pharmacy screw up and she didn't want to speak with the pharmacist. Didn't have the meds I needed... Poor customer service and I don't Recommend Dr Pujol's office.
