I have taken my wife here several times throughout the years and 3/4 times she will complain to me about verbal abuse by the patrons. I don't know why they feel the need to comment. Just because my wife shares their culture does not mean that she's a part of their family. They should not be speaking to her any more disrespectfully than they do their regular clientele. So I let my eyebrows grow out probably for the last couple months, Today I was finally ready to get them done. I looked up shops & Shila's was recommended for me so without checking reviews I went in. Its location is good, the building looks taken care of but when you walk in there is a awkward vibe, it's silent & you get told to sign in not a hello or anything. I sit down in the chair, I immediately tell her what I want starting with them cleaned up she says "okay, i will clean them up then we will look" I'm thinking okay, she starts threading them. About a 2 minutes & a half she hands me the mirror & asks "what do you think?" What I seen hurt my feelings. She gashed my top left eyebrow, she gashed the bottom left & looks like she almost started trying to make a new arch making it incredibly thin. She nicked the bottom right eyebrow & the clean up was hardly that! Me being a humble person I told her "okay, we are finished" when really I wanted to go left! I was so ready to leave the shop, she gets on the phone while ringing me up & then says "it's $12" WTH! I'm paying you $12 for a butchering? Staring at me while I'm signing the receipt, No I didn't leave a tip. I was on fire! No, I DO NOT RECOMMEND SHILA'S. I wish I would have read the reviews. My boyfriend & I go every month, which makes it easy to fill a stamp card. We never make appointments, but we're lucky to always have good timing & be there before a rush of people come in. Their staff changes & I don't know their names, but there are times where I'm satisfied with my eyebrows & other times where I'm extremely satisfied with my eyebrows. It's even cool that they give you a punch card for your eyebrows. So for every 6 times you get your eyebrows done, they'll give you your 7th eyebrow threading time FREE. I've had multiple women do my threading here, but I think I just found my new go to person today. I've never seen her before because she usually works at the Eastern location. Yet, I haven't decided if I'll be coming back. The lady who did my eyebrows had a bit of an rbf when I first walked in, which was fine-she did make small talk but then when I went to pay and used the yelp check in discount, she didn't seem too thrilled. Just a side note: they charge $0.50 for cards with a transaction under $10. Since my brother was also getting his eyebrows done, I waited and noticed that we were treated differently than the other two customers that came before and after us. I don't believe the gal that did my eyebrows, Gloria, cared about what I asked for/wanted. She rushed to the process and left my eyebrows uneven (left thick; right thin). Will definitely avoid her the next time I go back. She may benefit by actually listening to what the customer wants and taking her time to make sure she delivers what they asked for, rather than rushing to the next customer.
