This is a small Hispanic cemetery located on County Road 137 just a few miles outside of Hutto. It…read moreis less than an acre in size and most of the burials are post 2000 making it an active cemetery. It is basically surrounded by the quiet countryside, but there are a couple of residences nearby. There are a handful of headstones from the early part of the 20th century, but sadly they are in a sad state of disrepair. Many of these graves are well taken care of by living family members which adds some nice color to the place. It should be noted that there is another Santa Maria cemetery located in Pflugerville which shares the same name. The cemetery has been fairly well cared for, although there are some trees growing directly out of some of the graves that should've been cut down. One thing that is nice to see are all the touching the momentos and decorations left by friends and family. There is a single gravel lane that leads about 100 feet into the cemetery for visitation purposes.

The cemetery appears to be about 5 acres in size with hundreds of headstones well organized in…read morerows. It sits just on the outskirts of the Hutto city limits and despite still being somewhat in the country, there are some new homes next to it. There are quite a number of headstones from the 1800s and there are many veterans buried here including a couple of confederate soldiers. The cemetery has a single lane gravel road running through the sections. This is still an active cemetery judging by a few very recent burials. There is a Texas historical sign at the entrance that tells you some great historical facts and is included in the photos of this review. This location is well manicured and the headstones are well arranged, not scattered about. You'll find many well cared for headstones, but there are no above ground mausoleums. This is one of the nicest cemeteries worthy of spending some time walking through.

It's a small place but very comfortable and plenty of room for a good service. My best friend chose cremation for his child and the room for the viewing had projector screen for videos and sharing of the deceased life through a slide show. They also have it setup where you can play music through a laptop through the speakers in the room. There was a podium available so everyone who wanted to good give their speech and say their last words about the deceased. I definitely thinking about choosing this place for my future plans, it was very convenient and close to my home where I live in the area. Access to the facility from toll 130 is very easy to access no matter which side of the frontage road you're on. I will say parking is a premium if you have a lot of visitors for a funeral here. Over all great experience here visiting. I will recommend that the staff get a little technical savy. That was the only flaw that caught my eye.

The entire lot was full and I ended up parking in front of 5 cars- which turned out to be fine, but I just felt a low grade, mild dose of anxiety feeling bad for the cars I parked in front of during the event. FYI- Show up early and get a real parking spot. Or, if you have to leave early or don't want to be trapped, park somewhere else. The staff were great, rooms great, food area/reception was a bit tight for this event, but everything was handled nicely. Thanks Beck for helping us celebrate a beautiful woman!

The property is only a couple of acres in size and has a gravel lane that runs around the perimeter on the property also sits a well-made pagoda like structure that is dedicated to some previous church members. The cemetery is well laid out in family plots and is well taken care of, even the headstones appear to have been cleaned. The majority of the graves are from the 20th century but there are a handful of recent additions. This is referred to as a church graveyard, however, there is no church on or next to the property. The two most notable names found throughout the property are Almquist and Johnson. There appears to still be additional space for interments and a photo included in this review has the information you need in case you wish to inquire.

It is directly behind the Palm Valley Lutheran Church which is a historical building. All the graves are very well laid out and ordered primarily into family burial plots. There are acres of old headstones , recent ones and some waiting to be interred in their future plot. There is a single paved lane that runs through the center of the cemetery dividing the old and the new graves. I'm sure many of these headstones belong to the Who's Who of Round Rock and local history. This is still an active cemetery and I found several recent graves from 2022. There is also more room for additional plots on the back side should you decide this is the place to be your forever home. The church had a historical marker, but I did not see one for the cemetery. The pictures in this review don't fully capture just how beautiful this place is.

One interesting thing about this cemetery, is that it is almost exclusively covered in large pecan trees making it a squirrels paradise. The graves themselves are just dotted around the field with no real organization to them. Many of these graves from the early part of the 20th century but there are some recent burials here as well making it an active cemetery. There are some service members from WWI and WWII buried here. Some of these graves just have wooden monuments which might explain why many are buried here, but no markers remain. Out of the over 20 graves found here, sadly, about 10 of them belong to newborns and infants. There is a Texas historical sign on the property which you can read about in the photos below that add a great more detail. Sadly, one thing that was also customary was that slaves were also buried on this property, but have unmarked graves. It does look as though some effort has been made in the upkeep of this small cemetery.

The tree is massive with a large circumference with branches that extend wide and deep. It has a large tree trunk, which immediately grabs attention. It is important to note that his particular tree was here long before the city of Cedar Park existed as a town. The Heritage Marker near the tree provides an explanation of the historical significance of the oak and its role in Cedar Park's development. The historical marker is thoughtfully done with visitor friendly, easy to read language. It highlights why this tree is important.

I felt the energy of Cedar Park and bought me a house out there. No regrets as it has turned out to be a great investment. This tree is over 400 years old standing at 57 + feet with a span of 80 feet. The trunk is 50+ inches with a circumference of 13 freaking feet! It is majestic people! I have had a love affair with this tree since the first time we met. She is magical and powerful. It is located in the median on Quest Blvd. I love to go and sit under her and just let my thoughts go. In a sense, meditate. Can you imagine how many secrets this tree could tell. I mean being 400 years old an all, ya' gotta know some good tales. Every year during the Christmas Holidays this tree is decorated with over 30,000 lights, and, it is a site to behold! One of the most beautiful things you will ever see. This beautiful Live Oak has free access. The Cedar Park Heritage Society has done a wonderful job at preserving this wonderful tree. Come visit and enjoy and please be respectful to the tree and Mother Nature.
