Some of the headstones have been repaired and some still lie on the ground. As the plaque says, these graves belong to many of the early pioneers, of whom many died young. Many of these headstones belong to people in their 20s. The cemetery is probably just slightly larger than an acre and there are unmarked graves located here. The unmarked graves are marked with simple white crosses. If you're interested in local history, this is a point of interest.

This cemetery is located at the rear of what appears to be a country resort. It sits at the back of…read morethe property in a 50' x 100' wide space. It is a small family cemetery, but it does have one or two names associated with other cemeteries in this area. One name I found was Lawhon, which is the name of another cemetery not far from here (see separate review). The headstones appear to have been cleaned and apparently it is filled with wild flowers in the spring time.

This cemetery was obviously established back in the late 1800s because today it sits on some very…read morevaluable real estate. In other words, when this graveyard was established, I 35 was probably a two lane dirt road with horse and buggies going back and forth. Today it literally sits on the northbound feeder road of I 35 and the corner of Dean Keeton with thousands of cars rushing by. It has two points of entry along the feeder road with a gravel road running through the middle of the cemetery linking both of them. It is at least 3 to 5 acres in size and there are hundreds of headstones. Much of the cemetery is organized into family plots with their surrounding borders. The cemetery could use some work, as the grass was unmowed, the trees looked really scraggly, the entrance gate was broken off and there were a number of toppled headstones. There are quite a number of graves from the late 1800s, but the majority are from the early 20th century. I spotted quite a number of woodmen of the world headstones, which are quite common in this area. There may be some notable names interred here, but I did not spot any. There are a handful of graves that have been visited in the last few months, but it's quite clear that many have long since been forgotten. I did spot a few graves from the early 2000s up to 2019, but nothing from the last year or two. Plenty of photos included to peak your interest.

Gaining access to this cemetery required special permission as this is not accessible to the…read moregeneral public. The entrance gate sits across from Camp Mabry on 35th St. Most of this less than half acre cemetery is surrounded by the State school buildings and grounds, but on the south side is residential homes. You can also hear the noise of Mopac just a few hundred yards away. According to the memorial stone at the entrance of the cemetery, there are about 130+ people interred here. However, within this small space I counted less than 40 stone markers. The markers themselves are almost entirely from the late 20s through the 1930s and they are all cast in concrete, not marble or granite. All but one marker denotes just the name of the decedent and the date of their passing and nothing else. I was told there was a fire in one of the buildings back in the 20s which killed a few patients and I noticed two of the decedents had the exact same day of death in 1929. This does not appear to be an active cemetery anymore. There was really not a lot to see here, nor was there a historical plaque other than the memorial stone at the entrance. This is a small cemetery of a few hundred graves that sits behind Saint Paul's Lutheran Church,…read morewhich is just a couple of blocks off of Highway 79 in the town of Thorndale. Virtually all of the names on the grave markers have German roots. This is still very much an active cemetery with plenty of room to grow. There is a Texas historical sign in front of the church, which has more information on it in the photos below. On the west side of the cemetery you'll find quite a number of children's graves from the early 20th century. There is no listing of names as to who is buried where, but that may be available in the neighboring church. This is the final resting place for those in this local community.

Sandwiched between Round Rock and Georgetown in the countryside along County Road 110, you'll find…read morethis cemetery. It sits on about 3 acres and is oddly divided between the older headstones on the south side and the newer ones on the north side with an expanse of land in the middle. Right next-door is a camper and boat storage facility. The property is relatively well cared for, although many of the older headstones really could use a good cleaning. There is a Texas historical sign on site which speaks of the Swedish settlers in the area. This makes sense since many of the headstones reflect the language. One thing that I found odd was there were our family plots covered in pea gravel laid out, but they are unclaimed. For that matter, virtually the entire cemetery is laid out in square family plots in an orderly manner. One name that stood out here, was the name Bergstrom, which reminds me of Austin's airport namesake. The newest internment that I could find was from 2025 and there is plenty of space still available. One thing that was conspicuously missing from the newer markers were small oval porcelain photographs of the deceased cemented to the headstones. Out of the over 20 graves found here, sadly, about 10 of them belong to newborns and infants. There is a Texas historical sign on the property which you can read about in the photos below that add a great more detail. Sadly, one thing that was also customary was that slaves were also buried on this property, but have unmarked graves. It does look as though some effort has been made in the upkeep of this small cemetery.

TLDR: A pleasant cemetery that caters to all faiths and offers green burials. Grounds have some…read morelovely sculptures but the best part is the beautiful prayer garden. I think I want to be buried here. A lovely and serene place. A variety of sculptures are placed throughout the grounds. On one side, there is a green, lush pasture with grazing cows. On another side, the most beautiful aspect of this cemetery -- the prayer garden. It was larger and more pleasant than I expected. There is a lovely little pond and a trail that passes multiple family plots. It has that magical hidden-from-the-world feeling. I neglected to take photos since I wanted to avoid photographing any gravestones. Why doesn't every cemetery have a prayer garden!? This cemetery serves all faiths. Oh and they offer GREEN BURIALS (sign me up). There's no official parking lot -- you just find areas to pull over. There is a slightly larger area to pull over by the portable toilets (by prayer garden entrance). Cemetery hours are dawn to dusk, daily. The official hours listed here are for the office, which has limited hours and is closed on weekends. Office staff is very friendly (I called to confirm hours).

3.5 This is a very…read morenicely maintained cemetery. Several of the graves were covered in rose bushes and floral arrangements that you may not see in other places. There were some gravel pathways and and some statuary that were very pretty. Behind the graves there was a prayer walk way with headstones, chimes and figures dedicated to St. Francis of Asisi. There is no real parking lot to speak of but you can park on the gravel near the opening of cemetery. Also, there are no real bathrooms here. There is a port o potty but it's super gross so be aware to take care of that somewhere else.
