We selected a bus tour of Ireland mostly because it fit into a window of opportunity for us, but the tour company also had good reviews. One thing that we noticed is that the tour started in Dublin, circled the island, but did not conclude back in Dublin. Everything stoped on a Tuesday morning, over 50 miles from Dublin. I inquired about this before signing up and was told that it would not be a problem, since they would have plenty of time to arrange something. Later, when I contacting CIE Tours, the actual tour company, about transit back to Dublin, I received no response. At the beginning of the actual tour, I asked the tour guide the same question, and he also responded that we would figure that out later. About 7 days into the tour, he had the same response. While some in our group has vouchers for transport back to the airport, not all did, and many were scrambling to find some sort of transport from a remote castle to Dublin. The tour operator and agents did nothing to facilitate anything. Eventually we reserved a taxi, at the cost of $220, and left early in the day, since we weren't assured of a taxi at all if we waited until later. After some back-and-forth with the upper management (and a review) at Affordable Tours we were able to get a refund for the cost of the taxi. I highly recommend that you do considerable research into every aspect of these (or any) tours. Generally, people going on tours with groups do so because they do not know how to deal with all of the various complications, or even what they may be, but in the end, it is still all up to you to know. Make sure all your questions are answered and all aspects of transportation are entirely covered. Know exactly what is covered and what is not, and get everything in writing.

According to a resident in the building, they are now working out of their home. They still have their website running, so I went ahead and called them. The phone call went to their voice mail. The next day, a woman left me a message saying she would call me back later. That never happened. I called her back twice and both times it went to their voice mail. I even sent them an email, but after two days I still haven't received a reply. If a company can't return phone calls or emails when someone wants to use their services, then you know it would be a nightmare if something went wrong on your vacation. You'd be on your own. Just for everyone's information. I talked to a vacation rep at United Airlines and they gave us a good deal on a vacation. Plus, they give you a 24 hour toll free number if there are any problems.
