Driver blocked me in my driveway while I was trying to leave to attend to an emergency. The driver saw me trying to pull out as he was assisting riders into the van. I waited patiently and after he got in the van, there was absolutely no urgency to let me out of my driveway. There was also no reason to be blocking my driveway as there was more than enough room in front of the van. This is incredibly inconsiderate behavior, which was especially upsetting under emergency circumstances. This is also a highly irresponsible way to represent a business. read more

We have had complimentary rides from Shima to and from the hotel and airport. Our first driver (who took us from CLE to our hotel) was very, very rude and gave me evil eye when he was driving. In addition, he drove fast and gave us a bumpy ride... almost had a heart attack! This is such unprofessional behavior! Only gave a star more because the second driver (who took us from our hotel to CLE) was friendly and did not exhibit a bad attitude. He did come at 4:55 when our ride was supposed to be at 5, which led us to rush packing everything up. We gave both drivers a small tip, but I think only the second driver deserved one. I am in complete shock right now by the unprofessional, RUDE treatment I just received from this company. I booked a flight home from the airport a couple of days ago. Tonight I found out my flight had changed to a new time, and I called right away to let the ride service know. I was immediately told, in a sassy tone, they may not be able to accommodate my new time. I thought, ok, that's fine, but let's check it out and see. I began to give her the new details, and she began to inquire more in depth why the flight time had changed.... "Did your flight get cancelled or something?" I explained, no, that they had merely changed times on the flight. She then proceeded to tell me that the driver would now be "quitting his job" because he took this route and now didn't have the job. I was also told that they turned down other business due to my route.... Wait, what???? I started to ask her if their transport business never got anyone whose flight details changed, and she literally screamed at me that "you owe the driver for that ride!!!" I was absolutely FLOORED!!!!! I began to tell her how dare she speak to me that way, and she HUNG UP ON ME!!!! This is a reputable business? This is a reliable business?? This is the way a service business treats their customers???? It was a $100 trip from the airport home, not a 5 hour bachelorette party that was getting cancelled. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!! I will never use this company again (obviously), and I will sure as hell make sure anyone and everyone I know hears about this story. I was supposed to be greeted by my driver at baggage claim, as this was arranged by the employer who invited me for an interview I arrived and no driver was found. I waited for 30 minutes then called, the lady on the phone said sorry he was in the bathroom and he will be there in 1 minute. Ten minutes later, he was nowhere to be found. Called a second time, she said oh, he is in the limo lot, go outside and he will pull in 45 seconds. When I called to see where the bus was, I was told the driver was a moron. I could have told them that. At the end of the wedding, the bus was half hour late! The billing problems have continued since my last review, to the point where I will not use Shima if I have any other option. Shima doesn't use any modern billing technology. They manually took my credit card number over the phone and later claimed it was rejected. Their drivers don't have credit card scanners. Shima doesn't have a Paypal account. Their website doesn't take credit cards. Then they sent a bill to the address where I was picked up. I don't live there! I had to call the woman who handles their billing multiple times and deal with her saying weird things like, "My brain isn't working today." Who says that? What kind of business employs people who speak like that to customers? Meanwhile, her dog was barking in the background, making it difficult to communicate. Her yelling at the dog didn't help matters. I finally mailed them a check and they took two weeks to cash it. This wasn't a one time mistake. I have been charged for other people's rides, have had other people charged for mine, been double charged for driver tips, and have had this same credit card problem repeatedly. My credit card has never been rejected anywhere else. I even called my credit card company and asked them to accept any charge from Shima. Shima still got it wrong. And their online reservation system results in cryptic emails that don't include an estimate of the cost of the ride you are booking. Since I wrote my first review, Lake County is now served by Uber and Lyft, which don't have these billing problems. read more

There are plenty of limousine services in Cleveland, but none are more professional, affordable or qualified than Shima. They have always been run with the highest of standards. I've booked them for several events, including a couple of friends weddings. Each time I call, they spend a considerable amount of time on the phone with me explaining things like the maximum insurance they carry to keep their passengers safe, how they hire experienced drivers only and offer any kind of assistance their clients need. They have a beautiful, clean and expansive fleet of vehicles for any need. There is no other choice than Shima! read more

Very disappointed with their service.. One my wedding day, the limo came to pick us up with the air conditioning not working, and it was 80* outside... It was horrible....Not enough champaign Flutes for all the riders , the radio system not working and kept cutting out. The driver was due to pick up at 5am and by 5:15 we could not get any information as to when he would arrive. The office only yelled at me like it was my fault the driver had not arrived. instead, I had to jump in my car with 5 kids and now have to pay for 3 weeks of short term parking because of the incompetence of the company. Bad experience Hello, I just wanted to let your company know how unhappy I was with your service . Our problems started from our initial 4pm pick up. We had our wedding guests waiting at the hotel lobby to be taken to the venue for our 5 pm wedding. Your driver told the remaining guests he would be back for a second trip- then never showed up. This left approximately 15 guests behind , who subsequently missed our ceremony. if your driver hadnt of said that he was going back for them they would have got on the initial pick up at 4. We paid for an 11 pm pick up from our wedding venue to take guests back to the hotel, our limo coach bus was 40 minutes late! This is unacceptable .We were told the driver got lost. In the age of smart phones and gps, again this is unheard of . We had all of our guests waiting as we assured everyone that no one needed to drive . We reserved a limo bus for our wedding and was given a discounted rate, we paid in full several weeks prior to the wedding. 8am of my wedding day, a rude and abrupt woman calls stating we owed them $500 more or the limo wouldn't be coming. She said it was because they messed up on the billing end and turns out we weren't getting any discount. When I asked further questions and the speak to a manager her response was "I'm as high as you can go, so do you want this limo bus or we can give it away" Thankfully my father was able to cover the costs. It wasn't the additional money that has me concerned, it was their lack of organization to realize a large billing error on THEIR end, on the day of our wedding. Then have the audacity to be rude as if I was the one who made the mistake. We rent limos 4-5 times a year, and it will NEVER be with this company again. Shima is a horrible company, and I refuse to do any business with them in the future. Our limo broke down, and the driver and company did nothing to remediate the situation. We ended up calling multiple Uber Black cars for our party. It took multiple calls to get offered any sort of refund. The manager Michelle, or as she sometimes answers the phone, Denise, was miserable to deal with. She offered zero sympathy. They offered a small refund, and I put up a negative review. The company then recharged my credit card for the refunded amount. Michelle asked if I would take it down, and then she would provide the refund. I had it pulled off of multiple websites, but the refund never found its way back in my bank account. This people are crooks, the drivers are incompetent, and I would never recommend them to anyone. Our 25 person limo bus battery died on our point to point trip for a bachelorette party at the first location. They did send a replacement shuttle but it only held 10 people and it caused us to miss the window for being able to hit our other locations we had planned months in advance. I called to complain the next day that I was not paying for what we received and Amanda was rude and snarky on the phone. I was not expecting them to comp the entire night because they did send another shuttle but a little compassion and heart for what we went through would have been expected. We paid for your services. I called repeatedly this morning after they were not there at the requested time and the women who answered always said "he's 5 minutes away." The driver is nice and has apologized repeatedly. The women on the phone are rude. In my last phone call I said that obviously I assumed I would not be charged for the ride. She said she'd put it in my file and maybe I could pay half fare. I have used this company for 30 years. They used to be the best around. Now they are just another example of the decline of customer service in the 21st century. I booked a 20 passenger bus, a month in advance, for a Saturday night affair. Two hours before the pickup time they called to cancel. Specifically, they called to say they would be 1 1/2 hours late. Because the air conditioning in the bus was broke. Things happen. I get that. Its how you recover that matters. The manager seemed to think that as long as she said she was sorry; really, really sorry; that's all she was obligated to do. No help. No suggestions. No effort to find an alternative solution. No compensation. They refunded my deposit. Big deal. Fortunately, there are other companies around that understand that a limousine service is the ULTIMATE service business, and service matters. I have used Shima in the past and except for one time when my date was booked wrong, I was always happy with the service. The drivers have always been on time and professional. However, today (Sunday) I tried to book a ride to the airport and was told that they're closed and they open Monday at 9am. Now, this is what it says on their website: "We are available personally 24 hours per day, 365 days per year - in fact we are never closed. Our professionally trained customer service representatives are always available to assist you and or your clients in planning and choosing the right vehicles to suit your schedules. You can ALWAYS talk to us personally - it is our promise - no beepers - no answering service - only our trained staff to assist you at anytime. That sounds to me like I should be able to book a ride on a Sunday, but hey, she did tell me personally that she wouldn't assist me. I told her that's not what the website says and she replied that they are always assisting customers by driving them anytime. I guess they just ignore the "customer service representatives are always available to assist you and or your clients in planning and choosing the right vehicles to suit your schedules" part. They're getting 3 stars because of past service. Today was 1 star. Now I'm calling a different company instead. read more

The driver apologized as we boarded saying, he was trying to get the air conditioner to work but it hadn't cooled down yet. He was embarrassed of this situation. We went from Mentor to downtown Cleveland for pictures only and had to cut out a stop since it was so miserable being on the bus longer. We called and management had no back up limo to send us, stated the AC was fixed the day before by another company, and was refusing to give a discount/refund. We have used Shima for years! Airport trips, Proms etc. We were heading to the airport last Friday for a trip Our driver was reliable and showed up early. As we were on the freeway, all of the maintenance lights went on on the car, bells started rringing and the driver lost the steering power in the car. My husband told him to get off of the freeway. The car just stopped working.... no power at all and our suitcase were stuck in the trunk! We called our AAA service to get a jump. Meanwhile I called Shima and spoke to the owner. She was EXTREMELY RUDE to me as I was stuck on a freeway off ramp in one or their cars!! Meanwhile the driver had told us her told her the car needed maintenance but they did nothing about it! The driver called another driver to come pIck us up as Uber would not pick us up on a freeway off ramp. We missed our flight! The driver was wonderful but the owner was not! This was not our first problem with them... a few years ago one of their drivers was taking us to the airport and spun out in a snow storm. She was so rattled that she could not drive the limo so I put her in the back seat of the limo with my husband and drove the car the rest of the way to the airport myself! I called Shima and told them to send another car with 2 drivers to the airport because this driver was so shaken up she had quit! Another time they picked us up at the airport at nIght and the driver ran out of gas on the freeway at 11:30 pm. He left me, my husband and our kids in a limo on the side of the freeway at night to go get gas! Three strikes and bad customer service and you are out! Wish I could give no stars. We booked shima for our wedding and was very unsatisfied. When the bus arrived it was the wrong bus ... We went to the warehouse and personally picked our limo bus from their fleet. We choose a black bus that was brand new. The one that arrived to our wedding was white and very old and not maintained. I called on Thursday and confirmed that there would be ice and cups on the bus and when we got onto the bus there was no ice or cups. The limo driver took us to cvs and had us purchase our own ice and cups. The limo driver was a horrible driver. He was on his phone the entire time not paying attention to the road which ended with my sister flying down the stairs and ripping and staining her dress. There was no AUX cord and the only thing we could listen to was the static radio. Our driver also didn't drop us off at the right place and then expected us to walk to the correct place. Which in return we missed out on time with the photographer. When I called to address our concerns the owner Michelle couldn't have been more rude. Called me a liar , and didn't take responsibility for her driving staff. Also told me if I had a problem with the driver I should have taken care of it the day of. I didn't feel like dealing with the limo issue on my wedding day as well as In between our photos. Definitely would not recommend this company to anyone. Horrible customer care ! read more

I am a daily customer of Shima. Same location and time for pick up and drop off five days per week. Our regular driver has been reasigned, and the replacement drivers' are consistently late by 20 to 30 minutes. A few times the driver never showed up at all, causing all 8 passengers to find another ride, and ultimately being late to their destination. When calling the office, a girl named Michelle answers. She yelled at one of the customers, saying that she just woke up, and she could either talk to the customer or call the driver to find out where he was. Michelle has poor customer service skills. A different customer called to find out the situation. Michelle said that she "don't mean no disrespect, but I only got one hour of sleep. The power is out in Mentor." And that the customer would have to call back and talk to Ron or Scott later. This is an easy money gig. One would think that Shima would be more curteous to a 5-day per week contract that consists of that many customers. Maybe Shima should hire someone that needs a job and wants to work as opposed to hiring family members who feel it's alright to treat customers with such disrespect. Shame on you. read more

I spoke with someone (Ron maybe). He said he didn't know what happened, but that he was "mobile" if I needed him. He said he would call the driver then call me back. I waited another 20 minutes and there was no call back! I had to drive myself, which was hard because there were 5 of us in a small car. We barely made it on time and had to drive with our luggage on our laps. On our way back, someone from the office called and said that the driver was just a little late. We had to have friends pick the bridal party up, take them to a location to wait for another car to pick us up. We lost food that we provided the bridal party in the limo, girls dresses were stained from spilled beverages. When called on Monday we were told we would only be reimbursed 50%. Called 10/13 spoke to Michele (which we now see is the OWNER via reviews- she is absolutely RUDE) and asked why I was being charged when we were inconvenienced, food lost, dresses stained and she told me that the next guest was inconvenienced because they had to take a car away from them. Told me they would go ahead and credit the entire charge, she said she would email me the credit (which I haven't gotten). When I asked why it was my problem the next party was inconvenienced when the limo driver caused the accident, we had to find rides to wait for the next limo, we missed out on pictures she told me the driver wasn't charged and HUNG UP ON ME. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE SERVICE -ESPECIALLY WHEN THE OWNER IS LIKE THIS TO CUSTOMERS- No empathy, very defensive and down right rude. My wife's company took us and 8 other people out for a night on the town due to some awards that were given out and this was the prize. A limo to take us too and from and dinner on the company. Well when the limo arrived, I thought to myself how would 10 people fit inside a standard limo. Which is what showed up. Now when the driver got out and we started chatting letting him know there would be 10 of us, he looked kind of puzzled. Exact words were this limo is only designed for 8 people, you should have ordered the limo for 10 people . Our director told them that we had, to which the driver then replied we only have one vehicle for 10 people and that was already used for a different event. The limo itself left a lot to be desired, you could tell they do not maintain their fleet. I wish i had pictures, but this limo had chrome plating missing from the outside. Inside was super cramped for 10 of us, and not sure how safe either. Sitting in the back, the shocks need some work as every bump left a bruise. The heat did not work at all. For filling the car like sardines, you could almost see your breath. Not the greatest experience in limos.. Cant say i will need a limo soon, but i can say Shima would not get my business. read more

The worst! I wanted to write a positive review for Shima because I know some of the family members. Unfortunately, my experience with their service has been abysmal. I frequently use a limo service for transportation to and from the airport. The first time I tried Shima the driver that picked me up had one of the filthiest cars I've ever been in and it reeked of cigarette smoke as did the driver. During the ride to my destination the driver took two personal phone calls on his cell phone. A day after the trip I called Shima, my concerns fell on deft ears. It was almost like I was the one at fault. I gave Shima a second chance yesterday, my brother was returning home and needed transportation from the airport. He recently had a lung removed and his walking and exposure to cold air is extremely limited. The driver met him at luggage and proceeded to tell my brother to get his luggage and follow the driver to the short term parking lot. A walk that was more than dangerous for my brother. When they got to the parking lot the driver kept my brother waiting in the cold while the driver got the car. The car was filthy (probably a personal car of the driver), the engine light was on and it was low on gasoline. The driver then took the wrong direction in getting out of the lot. Instead of heading east they were going west. I've since called Shima and told a phone operator of the dreadful experience. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do NOT use this limousine service IF you value kindness, honesty, business transparency, quality service/product, SAFETY, promptness, cleanliness, and respect. I will share with you the full picture of what happened.. What I was VERBALLY told... 1. Every limousine is almost new... 3yrs old or LESS 2. The limo would arrive at 5:30 pm What we received... 1. The limo was 15 minutes late. 2. The limo had rust running down the side of it, which appeared to have been spray painted over??? 3. The stereo system didn't work (we were going to a concert, so would have been fun) 4. The wine glasses were dirty. 5. The intercom system would crackle loudly (when the driver would speak with us) 6. It sounded like the back in was going to fall off. You could hear and feel a loud grinding/rumbling sound under your feet as we were driving down the road. 7. My door would not open from the inside. The door handle was dangling slightly. I immediately thought of the young women that burned to death because they couldn't get their Lincoln limo doors to open when an air suspension failure allowed the spinning driveshaft to contact the floor pan, causing friction that ignited carpets and set the vehicle on fire! please google - "Deadly San Mateo-Hayward Bridge limousine fire due to mechanical problems and doors wouldn't open" 8. Our driver was nice and came to find us after the concert.. which was very helpful. But unfortunately he had a bit of road rage while trying to maneuver through the concert traffic. Was a bit unprofessional and we had five little girls in the back with us. I understand business and things don't always go as planned. So I called Shima the next day and shared my concerns with a woman that seemed nice. The lady then said, "hold on, please", put the phone down and I then hear, "HELLO?". The energy reminded me of a very angry lunch lady with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth (nothing against angry lunch ladies!!). Angry Lady: "Your credit card hasn't been billed yet and I'll take care of it!!!!" Me: "OK, great! Are you saying you aren't going to charge my credit card at all?" Angry Lady: "YOU DID RIDE IN THE VEHICLE, DIDN'T YOU??!!!!!" Me: "Yes.. but I'm not sure if you meant you weren't going to charge me or give me a discount?" Angry lady refused to tell me what adjustment she was going to make. She told me her name is "Michelle" and then repeatedly told me that she's NOT the owner and she has NO idea who the owner is. Laughing about how she doesn't report to anyone and asks someone in the background if she signs her own paycheck. If you read all the negative reviews on YELP, google etc.. you'll see that all the responses are from "Michelle (owner)" My intention in sharing this is to prevent others from having the same frustrating experience. Would love to see this company reevaluate how they do business/their values and then come back strong. But until then, I strongly recommend you go with another limo company. read more
