If I want the kkotsal 꽃살 (prime flap meat) cut a certain thickness, I just let them know in advance and they prepare it exactly how I like. For brisket, they only roll it by hand, which my family insists on, so there's no way we can skip this place. Their top-quality tenderloin cuts are also perfect for bulgogi. Honestly, for our family, we have to use this cut for mille-feuille nabe--anything else for shabu-shabu feels too tough, no matter how soft it looks. My family had been buying meat here for about 5 years. We don't live nearby but had consistently been coming to this shop. My preferred choice is the marinated short rib. What used to be fresh is no longer the case. Weird stench from meat as if it had been sitting out for a prolonged period of time. When we asked the worker, they had stated it was 'fresh & packaged' today. If you're looking to do korean bbq at home and want quality meats, this is the place to go. Some of the meat is pretty pricey, but the quality is excellent and after comparing their prices to different meat shops, this one is so far the best deal without a sacrifice to quality. There's a H Mart nearby too that sells meat, and yes this place is cheaper with better quality. The only way you might be able to get it cheaper is buying in bulk and cutting the meat yourself. read more

Went for the first time today per a friend's recommendation. I was a bit weary after reading some reviews about their steep price, but I actually found it pretty reasonable for the quality you get. I've always hated market chadol because it's too tough, but the quality here was very good. So worth the extra $. I was a bit bummed that I was only allowed to buy 3 packages of it. I tried here about twice, I always get the Chadol and the Marinated Galbi. The first time I got both was pretty good but it wasn't amazing. The quality was okay but it just tasted like other meat you can get from all you can eat. The second time I tried here it wasn't satisfying. I paid about $40 for two pounds of both and thats actually pretty cheap. But the quality wasn't what I think I paid for. They were really fresh but not that tasty. I have been going to this establishment for the past 3 years now. I NEVER buy Korean meat (marinated or not) at the market, as the quality is far inferior to Shin Sun Meat! The price might be about $1 more per pound for all items, but the quality, taste and freshness is far superior to anything you can buy at a market. I've been to other butchers in K-town, and this place is the best. The owners are extremely friendly, and get this....they are open 365 days out of the year! They never have a day off! I've told them they should take the holidays off, but they want to stay open for their loyal customers! So, what do I get there? They have everything! Everything you would find at a Korean bbq restaurant...they have there and you can enjoy in your own home! I agree with the rest of the voices here. This is the best place to acquire Korean meat/barbeque meats such as Cha Dol, Sam Gyups', Garbi, etc. Any cut of protein that a Korean recipe calls for is here. It is $1 more per pound compared to the Korean grocery stores, yes, but I have no problem for what seems to be the highest of quality, fresh, USDA, and to get to the bottom of it, it is absolutely delicious cuts of meat. They do not serve this quality of meat in any AYCE KBQ spot, trust me. Each sliver of Cha Dol melts and it has a sweet hint to it, which I am speculating comes from grass fed cows. I bought their cut used for Bulgogi, marinated it myself, and it was so money that it brought the douchebag Guy Fieri outta me. I fist bumped myself on my lonesome. This is where it gets even better. I just came back from coppin' some liver. It was heavier than I expected so I was thinking, "Hey, maybe she gave me some garlic for service!" which is pretty far fetched to expect but when I got home and opened my bag, there was a slab of plastic protected ice on top! Forget the garlic, now that's service! I recently had chickens go bad from a 20 minute drive so, wow, this really made my day. Don't usually like to go to Koreatown to shop because it is always so congested in the area. However, read the reviews and thought I would try Shin Sun Meat Market because I needed 15 lbs of galbi for a party. When we found shopping plaza there was no parking but thank goodness there was a 10 minute pick-up spot in front of the store. I had called ahead to order and when I got there it was ready and waiting. The store smelled so good, the meat looked really fresh and they gave me sliced green onion and sauce to go with the galbi. The people were very friendly. We grilled the galbi and it was great! I will definitely go back to Shin Sun. read more
