    Stolen license plate

Security here sucks. Our cars license plate got stolen at this parking lot and we asked the security guard and he said it's not his responsibility. What is the security responsible for?

Almost all fat and bones for $15 a pound. WHERE'S THE BEEF???

The Korean ribs that are $15 a pound was almost all fat and bones. Look at picture below. Also, their employees that collect shopping carts make racists remarks towards the Korean shoppers and harass them with the carts.

My favorite no-frills Korean grocery store with great prices and variety. With an outdoor parking lot. The storefront may look a little dated on the outside, but they have great products for great prices. Their banchans and packed dishes are always well seasoned and affordable. But the star of the show here is their taiyaki and fried chicken station in the back of the store. Freshly made by Korean aunties. It's cash only! And sometimes there's a wait, but it's so worth it. Only $2 for a fresh taiyaki! You can't get a better deal than this.

HK Market is the OG market in K-town. Before H-Mart, Zion, California, Galleria market were around this place was it! Apparently they haven't renovated since the 80s and it shows! My mom said she use to bring me here when I was little. I don't remember that, but I do remember HK ( Han Kook) market in the early 2000s use to be open till 3am or 4am, but that's no longer the case. Now the market closes at 10 pm sharp. I prefer HK Market in the area because parking is better then the other Korean markets around, prices are better, great produce section with overall large product availability. Not to mention that there is a fried chicken grandma vendor in the back that does chicken right! I love her!! If you don't mind an outdated store, this market is great! Just remember this isn't H-Mart (which I love) it's an old school market in k-town and am so happy it's still around!

Right now, I was in the store and witnessed a crime! The salesperson is opening old food containers and repackaging them into new containers, putting today's date on them. I was really shocked! I'm going to write a report. They do this when there are few customers in the store. This is terrible! They can poison people!!!! Shame on the store owner!!!

The strange discolored ice creams at HK Market

I don't recommend for every-day grocery shopping. 1. More expensive than regular grocery stores, even for items that don't need to be imported. A jar of peanut butter or a loaf of bread will still run you like $6 each. 2. I would also stay away from any of the ice cream--they're usually old and freezer burned. I've even seen severely discolored pints, placed right next to ones that are the color they're supposed to be. I don't even know how that happens. 3. A lot of the canned goods are dusty and look like they're rarely changed out. It's great for speciality snacks and people who need specific items for their recipes. They have a great selection of ramen, fish, sauces and Korean ingredients. It's just not comparable to other grocery stores, if you're going for that purpose.

Ice cream bar completed melted and refrozen out of shape.

AVOID FOODS FROM FREEZER. I bought 2 ice cream boxes- bars & cones. Both boxes had completed melted out of shape and refrozen. Also they were close to expiration and not edible. Where is quality control? What about other freezer products such as seafood or poultry if their freezer isn't working this way? Perhaps HK Market is counting on customers buying and not bothering to come back to return. Shame on them.

HK Market: A Friendly Korean Supermarket in LA HK Market stands out among the many Korean supermarkets in LA for its friendly atmosphere. From the warm, welcoming greeting upon entry to the helpful cashiers and baggers, the staff provides a pleasant shopping experience. This market offers a vast selection of Korean groceries, including house-made banchan (side dishes) - some with MSG and some without. They also have a well-stocked refrigerated section and a hot food section with prepared dishes like purple rice, fish cakes, and potato salad. For a sit-down meal, HK Market has one restaurant and a takeaway restaurant in the back which is cash only. One of the restaurants is serving hot stone soup, kimbap, among other things, and the takeaway spot, specializes in red bean pancakes, roasted sweet potatoes, and Korean fried chicken wings. With ample parking available, HK Market is a convenient destination for both grocery shopping and enjoying a delicious Korean meal.

I knew they were…read moreknown for their dubai chocolate, baklava and other treats, but I just had to try it in person. A nice young lady working there recommended to me to try their traditional baklava as well as the chocolate one. Both were very top tier, but the chocolate baklava really spoke to me. The textures of a bit crispy on outside with very soft, almost juicy filling of nuts, chocolate and their yummy syrup on the inside, made this chocolate baklava simply heavenly. After the first bite, my taste buds and my whole mouth just said Wooow! The baklava, especially the chocolate one, is absolutely positively a must try when you visit this Mediterranean spot. Good vibes here too, as there are a lot of tourists here and it's a cool people-watching opportunity and the tables to sit down and eat are just everywhere. Grove's Farmers Market is a historical, special place to visit and within the confines of this special place, is this magical baklava shop that's just a must. Will definitely be back again for more!

Sadly the economy has increased prices of course but that's not really the store's fault. PASTES Great selection of curry pastes, chili pastes, and seasoning packets for making things like Tom Kha and Papaya salad (All ranged roughly around $1-2). A selection of jarred sauces like , shrimp pastes, fried chili paste, and other sauces that were a few dollars more. COCONUT MILK/CREAM I focused on the Mae Ploy coconut cream which was $3.79 AROMATICS Aromatics like galangal, lime, and lemongrass are available in both dry powder form and fresh form. The powders ranged from $3-6). You can also get star anise either in dried bags or as a powder as well SAUCE Good selection of fish sauces and soy sauces. Large Viet Hung fish sauce - $13 I also spotted cheaper brands like Tiparos, Megachef, etc THAI CHILI POWDER! Finally. Been trying to find it at all the other Asian markets and it's been weirdly hard. I got my trusted 7oz red top container for $4.99 THAI TEA Thai tea in both canned ($3.39) and bagged instant form ($5) PRODUCE I was a bit sad at first on how small the produce section was but it turns out they actually really did have all the needed basics there. - Green papaya (they only have whole, no pre-shred) - Holy Basil in bags - Turmeric in bags - Thai chili peppers - Galangal $7/pound - Lemongrass stalks (I remember it said either $2-3 but didn't specify any further whether that meant PER stalk or per ounce or per pound, etc - Makrut ("Kaffir") lime leaves in bags (said it was $26 a pound but didnt provide a smaller, more realistic measurement - long beans - daikon - as well as a very modest collection of mainstream produce like tomatoes, onions, button mushrooms, etc CANNED Things like bamboo, including thin or thick cuts They also have my personal favorite jarred bamboo in chili oil. RAMENS They've got a small selection of ramens, also including variations of Indomie Mie Goreng ($1 per bag) and 1-2 Korean selections like Shin Ramen The sections I breezed by included oils, rice, snacks, and a few fridges with meats, eggs, desserts, frozen galangal, miso, etc. Unfortunately they didn't have the frozen precut lemongrass containers you sometimes get at Thai or Viet stores They also take card! It's a tiny tiny store with an equally tiny parking lot, so be prepared expect a full lot sometimes. I luckily found a spot but also noticed that it can be a bit of work to shimmy your car back out when you leave since they're packed so tight Definitely worth a visit though if you need this specialty of ingredients.

And she made something amazingly delicious out of it! Fast forward a few years later, we were blocks away when I reminded her about this place. She asked if we can make a stop so she can make that same dish again. (She mentioned Hubbers might have made a request for it.) I was curious enough to go in this time. I expected it to be crowded because Sanamluang is incredibly popular. We were lucky to find the only open parking spot which happened to be right up front. This place is deceiving! Looks like a no nonsense place looking from the outside but it's pretty big once you get inside! They even have a seafood and meat section at the back. They'll also clean and fry in-store purchase fish. I did notice that most of their products are pricier compared to other Asian markets. I didn't have the need for any, so I came out empty handed. But Mom got the cut of meat she needed to make us dinner this week! Okay first stop (for me.) Being far from home, not sure when I'd come back... if the need comes up and I happen to be around, maybe...?

The market is fully stocked with all shelves full...maybe over full, as I noticed many items were expired or past their recommended shelf life. Fruits and veggies were pretty fresh, though non-organic. Also, many varieties of spices and rare spicy. Great if you are looking for some hard to find spice for middle eastern, Mediterranean or Asian cuisines. I'm big on overall food freshness, so this is why I wouldn't necessarily recommend this place. If the packaged goods were expired on the shelf, not sure how many other products were aged. Can't tell age of spices, tea or anything else like that, so as Mich as I'd love to support small, local grocers...I just wouldn't come back:( Honestly, if they'd just clear their inventory of old things and keep it simple...they'd get customers like me, but I just can't trust a business that is so cheap, it will discount old things rather than get new ones.
