It's extremely sad to see what has happened to Prince William County as a whole, especially what's happened to Dale City - So many people living in the County and this area who don't care about the roots of it, nor who value community, neighbors, and family like those who actually built and grew this community - But it's great to see this place is still here!!! Pitkins is a staple of the community!! They have the parts needed for nearly any "fix" needed for a house built by Hylton, or any of the other builders in Woodbridge, Dale City, Lake Ridge, or Manassas. Their service is still very nice and the place resembles what it always has. They have specialty items, like Big Green Egg and it's a great place to come for them! Also, big shout-out to Trey (?) over in the screen door area who, by showing us the wheels on the on-site screen doors, helped me get ours working at home so we didn't need to buy a new door. Lastly, Jared was great to talk with about the store products in general. In an era of big-box stores, it's so refreshing to get this kind of personal, expert assistance. An honest-to-goodness, old school, hardware store - from years of yore!…read more There ain't to many of these left around - sadly - they all get run over and replaced by Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. Whenever I see one of these old school hardware stores - I have to stop and go in and look around. Breathe in the ambiance. There is something comforting about these hardware stores... I wasn't planning on buying anything when I went in. Several employees asked if I needed help. I didn't at first. Then I opted for a new Stanley claw hammer (I can't find my current hammer) and a metal tool for breaking up and chipping ice from sidewalks (I'll be damned if I could find this style tool anywhere during the winter). As far as I can tell, this hardware store IS NOT affiliated with True Value - nothing at the store would indicate this and they are not listed on the True Value web site. They accept plastic here - although I believe they do not accept Discover. Nice folks running the place - friendly and helpful!

I was trying to salvage an older gallon of paint and the employee, so sorry I don't know his name, took time to shake the can, smell it to make sure it was still good, and strained it to ensure no foreign particles remained from my old rusted can. He then put the strained paint into a new can. Benjamin Moore paint is one of my favorites. Aura and Regal Select are my "go to" depending on the project.

In August Of this year, I purchased a quart of paint for $43 dollars to do minor touch ups. The sheen was very different and very noticeable. I went into the store looking for a solution, thinking that I may have purchased the wrong finish and was told it was the same paint. I tried explaining over and over that it was not and I needed help to solve the problem. My only thought was that I would have to spend more money to have my house repainted witch cost me over $5,000. He said all he does is mix the paint. He called the manager and he told me the same thing. I have better experience with Lowes or Home Depot because they at least can color match your paint and help to come up with a solution I called Color Wheel in McLean and a nice employee explained that the paint technology changed over the last few months and that the paint would look different. I called all of the Vienna paint stores and none of them knew this nor did they try to help me. The employee at Color Wheel gave me the corporate number, and they stated that the base color was discontinued and that I would need to call around to see who had it. I finally I found a store in Florida that was able to ship it to me. I spent $45 including shopping vs paying $5000 to have my house repainted. Paying $85 per gallon is a waste of money especially if they are going to change the paint so that you cannot do touch up painting. It's not worth the headache nor is the poor customer service I received from Vienna Paint.

I told him I was going to make a quick phone call to get the account information. His attitude changed immediately. He became visibly angry and told me he was not going to sell me anything because I was on the phone trying to get the account number. I was surprised and confused by his reaction. I don't know what I did that warranted being treated that way. His behavior felt unnecessarily aggressive and unprofessional, especially for someone in a management position. I hope this matter is taken seriously and reviewed. Customers should be treated with courtesy and respect. I sometimes come here just to browse what kind of tools I may be missing. Rockler has everything from tiny dowels to thousands-of-dollar heavy equipment. What I usually come here for is to get hardwood and baltic ply. The hardwood selection here is great and it's reasonably priced. Most of them are S4S or S3S so in the worst case, I can use my table saw to rip the unfinished side. You only pay for what you need so you can have them cut a longer piece and not pay for the reminder! That's amazing. Note that they only cut longer wood to fit in your car. Rockler currently does not offer planing or joining services. The guy over there said they are looking into supporting such services soon but as of today, that's not an option. Rockler also has wood-turning and other general woodworking classes. There's a small classroom inside the store itself. If you need anything woodworking, Rockler is it!
