    Swordfish tacos

One of the best meals we have ever had! Very flavorful, reasonably priced, great atmosphere outdoors on the patio with live music and very attentive service! We had steak tips and swordfish tacos. The only disappointment: Onion rings were all fried with very little onion. Can't wait to go back! Such an enjoyable experience!

I wish I can give it zero stars. This course used to be one of my favorites because of the layout and the challenge. I understand that courses need maintenance but when everything is COMPLETELY covered in sand, and you still charge $89 for greens fees?? Thats just not cool! Awful experience. I had some friends playing the next day and had to tell them to cancel right away.

Lunch by the golf course, nice breeze and a view overlook the golf course. People watching on the fairway. Lunch was delicious. Tried one of their specials. Fried scallops with sweet potato fries! Soooo delicious! Noise level was a bit on the high 8/10. Otherwise, it's a great place to grab a bite after golf. Pleasant service and fast service.

    Pretty greens

Excellent mountain target track. Well maintained but bunkers could use a little work. Sparse pro-shop but everything you need. Facilities are clean and nice. Relative fast play and great food/beverage service including cart and outdoor service at turn. Could use better practice facilities

Picture doesn't do it justice. A beautiful night

From our very first meeting to the final moments of our wedding night, the experience was nothing short of amazing. Every time we met with Tracy to plan and coordinate, we were greeted with warmth, enthusiasm, and efficiency. She made the entire process feel easy and enjoyable, always making us feel comfortable, supported, and completely at ease. Tracy was truly invested in our vision and our happiness, and that care showed in every detail. By the end of the planning process--and especially on the wedding day--she felt like such a special person to us. Not only was she flawlessly overseeing everything behind the scenes, but she also felt like a guest who was genuinely enjoying and celebrating our special day alongside us. Highfields Golf and Country Club is absolutely beautiful, with a picturesque setting that made our winter wedding feel magical. Our family and friends couldn't stop commenting on how stunning the venue was and how beautifully it was set up with winter décor. The staff were welcoming, fun, and attentive, and their positive energy throughout the evening truly elevated the experience, making the night even more memorable for our guests. From start to finish, everything was seamless, joyful, and thoughtfully executed. We are beyond grateful for Tracy, the incredible staff, and the unforgettable experience at Highfields. Our wedding day was perfect in every way, and we will cherish it forever.

I'm disabled and that made me a bit nervous. Upon entering, we were not greeted (we said hi and asked how he was and he complained that he was tired) then were just told (with a pointing gesture) to sit wherever there were coffee mugs. We sat and waited far too long for there only being 2 other parties of people. We received menus (not handed but sort of flopped in front of us) and coffee that was about a step and a half away from being swill (we added creamers and it never got any lighter. Very dark in color). My husband asked for sugar. The server went to get it and never came back. After about 5 minutes he showed up withOUT the sugar and started to ask about our order but we wanted the sugar first and he gave us a borderline annoyed "yup... sugar" and walked away. Again... too long of a wait for just sugar (which should have just been on the table already). After feeling ignored, we just decided to pay for the coffee and leave. Very disappointed, as so many people have praised the place and we got bad service from a server with a less than desirable attitude. We won't go back.

(Lennon and McCartney) I attended a charitable organization's golf outing on Tuesday and had a very enjoyable afternoon. No, I don't play golf except for a round of mini a few times a year. Blackstone cooked a simple dinner for our 100+ guests. It was a nice "make your own sandwich" version with burger patties, hot dogs, chicken and sausages paired with platters of cheese, onions, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, rolls and potato salad. The price of 68 with a cart and unlimited (really worn out and tired) range balls off grass included with greens fees. I never see public courses in CT have grass ranges. They layout wasn't bad. The front 9 was a little tight. Whoever designed the course had to be creative with the landscape. The course was very hilly which I don't mind. Some memorable par 3's. The greens required very accurate approach shots. Most misses were short as approach shots that were right left or long usually required a difficult chip up a slope or ended up in the woods. The bad: Unfortunately when I played on 5/15 (normally a great time of year for growing grass) the fairways were in rough shape with bare spots lots of spots that could have been considered ground under repair. The greens were slow and in rough shape as well. Of all my putts I would be hard pressed to remember one that rolled well. Most putts were bouncing around from the start. Not a waking course at all. In fact they wouldn't let you walk even if you wanted to. I guess this helps with pace of play given some of the longer walks in between holes and the hilly landscape. Overall: Considering the conditions of the course especially the greens, pace of play and layout I would say this course was average at best. Not terrible for the price. I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to play here again. If the greens were grass covered, cut and rolled and the fairways were in better condition that might be a different story. The course does have potential.

After our initial drives this much older balding gentleman (or man as he was not very gentle) drove by in a small vehicle and told us that we need to split our group because of Covid rules-there could not be a group of five. We understood, said OK, and moved on: One group of three first and then the group of two. (keep in mind there are also two groups in front of us playing). When my friend and I were walking along the fairway to retrieve our balls on the third hole, that older guy drives up to us again and exclaims, " You must be learning how to play golf. We need to be faster and move along." When my friend told him that we had been waiting for the groups in front of us to play their hole, he just waved us off and continued driving his small truck. As we checked in to play the second half of the course, they added two strangers to our group. The strangers were nice and all, but we didn't understand why we couldn't have just played with the original three people that we came with that we knew were clean and Covid free. The group of three in front of us, that we knew, also would have a random a person join their group once for the first half and then again for the second half. The course itself was fine for a nine hole course, but the way that man treated paying customers is really what made me come on here to write this review. He totally ruined a good time. The other staff we came across were pretty nice. I definitely will not be coming here. You've been FOREwarned.

The Pleasant Valley Country Club does a pretty good job of it. The ceremony room has enormous banks of windows looking out over the rolling golf course. The reception room has a huge fireplace. There's ample space for all parts of the function (cocktail hour, ceremony, and reception) without having to shuffle tables like in some of the historic estates....but then again it doesn't have half the personality of one of the historic estates. The director of sales, Michelle was a very pleasant woman who worked with my budget and was so accommodating. The day of the event I met the event coordinator who swore would help my event run smoothly. I cannot remember her name, but I will never forget her. Around 6 o'clock this woman asked me to kick my guests out. Our contract said the event would last until 6pm with the option to extend an hour. Naturally, I asked her if we could extend the event the extra hour. She said that I could not and a time extension has to be planned weeks in advance. What? How would I know weeks ahead of time if my guest would like to stay longer? I have never heard of this before. She advised me that I should refer to the contract, which does not mention anything about extending the time. After this conversation, I went to the private room to breastfeed my daughter. This woman barged in the room and continued to yell at me for guests not leaving. I was harassed by her while exposed and trying to privately feed my child. Who does that? I was in shock! Lastly, one of my guests got severe food poisoning from the fish and had to be hospitalized. I will never host an event here again and neither will any of my guests.

WCC is an excellent 9-hole course. It is NOT an 18-hole championship course, but IT IS one of the most impeccable 9-hole courses in MA. One typically plays whites out, blues in for a total yardage of about 6200. The blues are only about 200 yards longer, but the tee box placement makes it a much tougher 9. The greens run hot when they are in full swing, think 7/8 on the stimpmeter. The fairways are gorgeous, but the fringe and green rough is sometimes imperfect. For a public course, this is top notch. It gets a lot of play. The greens make this course challenging. If you are on, you can go low easily. If you are having one of those days, prepare to be eaten alive. The course has a very reachable par 4 (in 1, hole 2) and a reachable par 5 (in 2, hole 1). The third hole is a sloping and narrowing par 5 with the toughest green on the course. You MUST be below the hole. This course will force you to hit every club in your bag at least once, you will find yourself with uneven lies, and often questioning how you could three-putt from 15 feet. Worth every penny of the $22 for 9, or $32 for 18.
