My girlfriend order a couple of blueberry cake donuts and a original glazed donut. The glazed donut was freshly made and it was hot and delicious. The sugary glaze seemed it was still melting. The donut was so light and fluffy.... like a cloud... if a cloud was sugary and warm and delicious. The blueberry cake donut was quite impressive also. This is by the worst location of Shipley's in houston. Service has gone down substantially in the morning. Expect low quantities of popular items by 6 am. Drive thru has tanked on speed because management refuses to adapt. This is a small location and drive thru will have cars parked on Ella waiting. Chick Fil A uses technology to speed up drive through experience. Whataburger uses two lanes. McDonald's uses two drive through menus so orders can be placed and processed faster. On average 100K a year is what a franchise owner will make at Shipley's. This place has plenty of money and is in a great location in an industrial park area along with neighborhoods next door. It's clear there is little to NONE reinvestment back into the franchised owned business. This place is rated 4.5 stars but I would imagine a lot of the reviews are fake or from past years. This location is extremely slow and unprepared. This is a real review of this place and the experience to expect. City should step in at some point and require expansion to get cars off of Ella and not cause dangerous environments, hazards, or traffic jams. Food quality is great and never been an issue but the planning, quality, and execution of the services are horrible. If the owner reads this please spend the extra money to get an upgraded technology system that will speed up drive through. It's a few thousand dollars and a retainer fee for a technology company to run the IT for you. Customer experience will be better and not shy people away when they see a snake of cars going from building all the way down to Ella and 34th Street. read more

I had to rate this Shipley's a one because of the customer service I experienced. Today my friend and I went to go order some food, and the lady that took our order was really rude. She came outside to take the order and seemed disinterested. The entire time she was taking the order from my friend, she wasn't writing anything down, she was looking away towards the sun yet shielding her eyes from the sun and doing everything in her power to let it be known that she did not want to be taking our order. She then interrupted my friend in the middle of the order, smacked her lips and said "Just finish your order at the window." My friend and I live near by so this is not the first time we have gone to Shipley's together and unfortunately it is not the first time that this employee has been rude and curt with myself or my friend. Additionally, I am teachers so I will often frequent this Shipley's to get donuts for my students, and I dread every time this employee takes my order because I have never received decent customer service from her. Despite the terrible customer service from this employee, the food is overall really good. Interactions I have had with the other employees in the past have been positive. However, I feel they need to give the rude employee a task that does not involve interacting with customers because she clearly hates it. read more

I am giving a rating of a two solely based on the quality of the product I received. Outside of that the customer service was terrible. Came to this Shipley's to treat my nephews since they have never been to a donut shop before. We were being rushed and the employee complained that my nephews were having a tough time deciding. As they are 6&10 years old... the lady spoke Spanish and told these two other customers that "we were taking too long and she doesn't get why we are making the kids choose what donut they like." So, let's start with how you find this place. I mean, of course, after you look up the address and get in the vicinity? From the 610 loop, you head west down Ella Blvd in the right lane until it comes to a complete stop. Don't dare change lanes because everyone in THAT lane is waiting to get to the Shipley's drive-through window. Yeah, you heard me right. DRIVE-THRU HOT DONUTS, but only if you patient enough. If not, pass the traffic and turn-in on the other side of Shipleys where there is plenty of parking. Okay, it's not really a parking lot - like with striped lanes and such, but just go ahead park your car somewhere on the big slab of concrete (if you're lucky) or the grass if you're really impatient and desperate. Don't mind the dump truck and abandoned cars that signify the lot does not completely belong to Shipley's and walk on in and place your order. Inside, good luck figuring out when it's your turn to order. Don't worry, another customer will correct you if you jump up to the counter and start mumbling about what's hot or not. Somehow these incredible employees manage to keep the peace when people need their doughnuts. Just know that if you see someone looking grumpy, you're not ahead of them and if you see someone watching the do-nuts being made, they've already ordered. i didn't think that shipley donuts were different from shop to shop but THIS location in particular changed my mind. maybe it's the retro donut logo out front, maybe it's the non traditional shop it sit's in where it's more of a counter order shop with a make-shift to-go window on the side. all i have say is the donuts here are RIDICULOUSLY awesome. when the donuts are just made, they can't close the box because they are still warm so they don't want it to lose it's crispyness. the fact that they had to wipe the box down because it was oozing with frosting, c'mon that's when you know it's heaven-made. it's buttery, crispy and sweet on the outside and goo-ey and hot on the inside. i can't explain it. all i know is that this place is legit when the glazed donuts are hot off the press. after work around 5pm, you'll see a line of people getting these donuts. they know what's up. read more

This is the best location to go to, since you can get hot and fresh donuts majority of the time. The line can be ridiculous sometimes, especially when it spills out into the street it can be a bit dangerous.
