We were skeptical about this course based on the overall ratings, but decided to give it a try. What a pleasant surprise! Our family has played lots of mini golf courses, and while this one is very basic (you won't find the landscaping and/or special effects you see in Myrtle Beach) it is well-maintained and we had a great time. There are two courses to play. The holes are deceptively simple--they proved to be challenging even for the more experienced players--the greens had some nice undulations that made them a little tricky. Don't let reviews by people who give one star without having played the course simply because a sign was incorrect during the off-season sway you from giving it a try if you're in the mood for mini golf. read more

Pros: as for the area it gives something to do as Topsail/Surf City has very little to offer in the activity realm and easy to do. Cons: I agree with prior reviews that the man at the counter was grumpy and no people skills (woman was opposite and ok), for the length of game and return - IMO it's overpriced (paid almost $30 for 2 people for half hour game - same thing is half price in my area). Overall I wouldn't recommend as overpriced, not worth it and environment is unwelcoming. read more

I'm rating this place 1 star based on the combination of price and overall condition of the course. For two adults and two small children, it was $50 for one round of mini golf. When the desk associate told me it was $50, I had to ask him to repeat twice to ensure I was hearing him correctly. To add salt to the wound, the place is an absolute dump. Many of the decorations have holes in them, there's tons of algae in the water, sharp splintered wood posts, and numerous exposed electrical cords that are likely not to code. For the amount of money this place charges, you'd think it would be well maintained. I would recommend avoiding this place at all costs. I'm sure you can find something better to do for that price. read more

Fun pirate theme mini golf. There are two courses to choose from, or play both. Plenty of waterfalls and caves along path with fun pirate statuary and a pirate shipwreck. Nice landscaping, and a couple of picnic tables along the course in case anyone needs to take a break. Clean bathrooms, friendly and helpful staff, and a gift shop filled with a wide variety of Topsail Island souvenirs including pirate flags, hoodies, T-shirts, and trinkets. Also, there is a nice ice cream shop directly across the street as well as a shopping center with a few restaurants, a distillery, and nice lounges and wine bars all within a few feet of this mini golf course. read more

Shipwrecked Mini Golf was a decent stop--checking in and getting started was easy, and the process was smooth. That said, the courses themselves were a bit underwhelming; most of the holes are just bank shots, so it would be more exciting with some variety or creative obstacles. We played all 18 holes on both courses and could see why kids would really enjoy it, but as adults, it felt pretty basic. Overall, a fun enough activity if you're in the area, just don't expect a challenging or elaborate mini golf experience. read more

I never leave reviews but the only thing this place has going for it is that it is the only course at the beach. We walked in and the man working behind the counter didn't say a word, not a hello, welcome how many? Nothing. So we told him we had 3 in our party and he said 39. He didn't even ask how old my daughter was. She just turned 11 today and one of her requests was putt putt. It was only a dollar difference so we didn't bother with the man who clearly doesn't like to communicate. We were also a little confused about the cash pricing because we thought it was a little different so I'm pretty sure he gave us a dollar back instead of 5 but again we didn't say a word because we were mostly just so confused how this was someone representing a business but decided some people just have zero common sense when it comes to dealing with the public. You can't have someone running a business that refuses to say anything at all to customers except the price to pay and goodby when they leave. The inside store was junky with signs and random messy things to buy. The course was clean but the metal holes kept popping out of the greens. They need to be secured better. Worst customer service. We don't live far and this was our first time but definitely won't be back. read more

We came in to enjoy mini golf but the guy working the counter was weird towards us and made us uncomfortable. He was very short with our group and acted as if we were dumb while trying to pay. He stated the price and then basically walked away instead of telling us anything about the course. There were no instructions given so we had to figure out which door to take outside for each course. The holes weren't in good shape, the metal rims were lifted and made it hard for us to actually get the ball in the hole. The attractions were old and falling apart in some places. Just wasn't the experience we wanted and was the only mini golf place within an hour of where we stayed! read more

lost a "novelty ball" in the water that i bought in the shop due to the poorly maintained course in the water and was told "gone" by the owner when I was just letting him know. Also got eaten up by fire ants while sitting on a bench waiting for the next hole. Would visit a locally owned place who deserves your money like "Patio Playground." read more

I loved going on a date here with my husband. It was a lot of fun and the staff were nice. The only thing I would say is the water outside looked mossy and dyed blue. It would give a better appeal if the water was actually clean. Other than that everything looked clean. Had a great time. read more

We decided to be tourists in our own town and went to Shipwreck Point Golf to play some mini golf. They have 18 holes in the front and in the back and for the most part it was well preserved. They have a small store inside with souvenirs and some snack items but overall most of the fun is right outside. Price wise, it is very reasonable and all around a great value for some fun. read more

Something is off about this place. The walls on every hole are very short so it's extremely easy to knock your ball off the green. There is trash around the course and the bathrooms are very dirty. No toilet paper in the holders and an overfilled trash can. Aside from all of those things though, there was an old man and a young girl who were working while we visited. At first when we got here, the girl would not stop STARING at us. I walked out of the bathroom to her staring so I said hello. To which she just proceeded to stare and not say a word. Then once again I waved and said hello... still nothing. She made me feel so uncomfortable as she stared at us throughout the lobby area. Then, on our way out, the old man was working and was doing a similar thing except he had a nasty smirk on his face. I wanted to purchase a water bottle and noticed the sign "We prefer cash- but we do take Amex and Mastercard" so I looked in my wallet and only found a $10 bill. I went to checkout and tried to buy the water bottle when he snapped at me and said "This is $1. You don't have any 1's??" I said "No I'm sorry. Do you have change for this?" He straight up ignored me and then gave me back $8.95 instead of $9. It's only .05 but it's the way that he treated us that makes me feel like he did that out of spite. Will not be returning here PS- all over this business they have signs asking to post a review on Yelp. If they are begging for reviews like this, they need to make sure they have staff working that acts like they want good reviews! read more

The course is in very bad shape, looks like it's been neglected for years. The carpet is loose and coming up making it impossible for the ball to roll. Don't touch any of the wood railings or score post or you will come away with a splinter or worse. The lady inside is so nice but the man behind the counter is rude and discourteous and shouldn't be allowed in public. Go do something else. read more

Take a look at the last review from 2011, and be assured that as bad as this course was then, it has only gotten worse. We have been vacationing in the Topsail area for 7+ years and the kids always want to play mini golf. We gave up on Shipwreck Golf because they don't keep regular hours, don't answer the phone, and don't have an answering machine to give course status. The only other course in the area in Snead's Ferry closed this year, so the only other option in the area is an hour away in Wilmington. The staff is strange, the place is a dump, the price is too high. If I could give zero stars, I would. Stay away unless your expectations are extremely low. read more

I've gone twice this week. Once with my grandson and once with my son and grandson. We are staying in Surf City from Raleigh. We had a great time on both occasions. It's not the "competitive" type course where you can make a "hole in one" on numerous holes but nonetheless a lot of fun. The staff was very friendly and helpful. read more

This putt putt course has to be the most uninspired putt putt course I have ever seen. Out of the eighteen holes, only four had any "obstacles" on them and they were just a little "rock" in the way or two things to hit the ball through. The rest of them were literally a flat piece of green with a hole at the end. There were no hills, no props, nothing but a flat empty green. There is a big "river" that was in the middle of the course that had spilled over and completely soaked on the greens. Despite this, it is hard to ruin putt putt. We still had fun but it was the most basic course we have ever seen. This would be a great place to take little kids because it is very easy. We ended up finishing in 15 minutes and it was not worth the price. Finally, in the bathroom was a sign actually asking for people to post reviews on yelp. My advice is fix up the course before asking for reviews. read more

As far as putt putt courses go, I'd say this is an okay one. It's a fun course, but there's nothing that really makes it stand out except for some pirate declarations placed here and there. The enjoyment of the putt putting was definitely there, which was good, but there was nothing really memorable about the place other than the holes I did well on or something absurd and funny happened. Also, bugs were EVERYWHERE! Little nats were flying around us even though we tried shooing them away and we got bitten by something- either them or mosquitoes. They have two 18 hole mini golf courses. VERY funny and friendly staff. Making a ton of improvements all around and very into customer feedback so they can keep it up. I've played both courses and while the front 18 are not as challenging, they do feature 2 caves and is very cool for children. The back course offers a little bit more of a challenge for experienced parties. Over all I think this establishment is a great way to spend quality time with anyone. I love these little courses and will keep bringing family here for a fun night. read more

I came here with my family of 14 here on vacation, and it was overall very fun. It had 36 holes, and if you did 18, you could do another 18 for only 4 dollars more, which was a great deal for what it is. Although it was fun, when I went to the bathroom, I was a little concerned. There was a table, which I don't have anything wrong with, but it was very filthy and made me a little uncomfortable. My cousin went to the bathroom and found an unmarked bottle of cough syrup-like substance and some gross napkins. One star in no particular order. 1. Some of the golf balls look like extras they just found in an actual course. 2. There are no markers at the start of each hole to guide you. 3. The mats were old, some of the carpet was torn. 4. Some holes were in a tunnel or a cave like area, but the lights were broken. 5. The way the holes were placed look like they just tried to make it fit. There was nothing special about the course. 6. Overall the place is dirty, there are ponds with murky water. It needs a renovation. 7. For such a basic and worn down course $8.99 is steep. Pros - there was cool turtle and frog in the water. A much needed renovation and basic maintenance would seriously boost its rating. They do get a lot of business but its the only putt putt place in the vicinity. read more
