Let me start off by saying that I am one of those helicopter dog parents! I know it, and I admit it! I LOVE Hingham Dog Care because they make me feel at ease when I drop off my baby there. The do an interview when you first sign up, which makes me feel better that my dog is with all the other "good dogs" at daycare all day. There are quite a few frenchies that go there, which makes me feel like she is playing with her people all day! When we first signed up, she would be sad to leave in the morning. Now, she is jumping in my car and begging me to take her to day care! They even have outdoor play time, which I think is an awesome added bonus! I feel like the price is good for the peace of mind that I am getting. I signed up for the bulk deal, which gives you a little bit of a discount. We were repeat customers of Shipyard Dog. Before our young dog, we entrusted our elderly dog to the facility for daycare and boarding for several months before she passed away. We returned because we had previously had a positive experience. We appreciated the cleanliness of the facility, the convenience of the online reservation system, and, most importantly, we trusted them with our pets. Our young dog began attending at approximately four months of age, and for several months everything went well. This spring, we were told he had been "humpy and displaying dominance" during a previously scheduled boarding over school vacation. We immediately followed Shipyard's recommendation upon returning by temporarily removing him from daycare, having him neutered as soon as possible, observing the recommended recovery period, and even offering to pursue additional training if needed. After doing exactly what was asked, Shipyard accepted additional boarding reservations, giving us every reason to believe he remained an appropriate candidate for their program and that any concerns had been adequately addressed. While returning home from a recent trip, we received another message stating that our dog had "incited an altercation" and now needed to be removed from the facility for several months. This meant coming home and unexpectedly needing to start over in finding future boarding after relying on Shipyard Dog for our travel needs, which had recently increased due to a death in our family. After reviewing the 13-second video provided, I was left with more questions than answers. The footage did not clearly demonstrate to me that our dog was solely to blame for the altercation, nor was I given any objective explanation regarding the specific behaviors that led to that conclusion or what "improvement" would actually look like for him to return. From the video, our dog appeared increasingly overstimulated. He was open-mouth panting, sat down while several dogs continued to approach him, and rather than the interaction de-escalating, additional dogs continued to converge around him until a fifth dog approached him directly face-to-face, at which point he reacted. I was also surprised that there appeared to be no consideration of simply removing him from the playgroup or modifying his boarding experience, particularly given that he had been recently neutered, before deciding to dismiss him from the program for a "few months." The video also showed two playgroup monitors nearby before the interaction escalated. What ultimately led us to make other arrangements was the complete breakdown in communication. At no point were we told that our dog's place, even as a boarding customer, was in jeopardy despite accepting four future boarding reservations throughout the summer. When I raised concerns about how this was handled, I received no response. When you board your dog, you should be able to travel, even under difficult family circumstances, knowing your pet's needs are being thoughtfully managed. Instead, we were left worrying about unexpected behavior messages while traveling and scrambling to find new boarding arrangements afterward. I recognize that every facility has the right to determine which dogs are the best fit for its program. My purpose in sharing this review is not to dispute that right, but to help other owners understand our experience. I encourage readers to draw their own conclusions. If you rely on a boarding facility for travel, I encourage you to ask detailed questions about how behavioral concerns are managed, how much communication you can expect if concerns arise, and what alternatives are considered before a dog is removed from the program. Those answers may ultimately determine whether a facility is the right fit for your family. read more

The staff are excellent and the owner Shannon really cares and she's always making improvements to the shop. I wish I knew the staffs names but I know Nicole and she is so good with all the dogs. Writting this as I look for a new provider. Stopped going last summer as when I went to pick up my dog the staff was unable to find him. After 10 minutes of searching they realized they had locked him in a storage closet in the back as he needed a "time out" for humping.... Staff explained he was in there for 5 minutes, which is hard to believe seeing they "forgot" he was in there. Really disappointed as the location is so convenient. read more

I highly recommend Hingham Dog Care! My goldendoodle, Gracie, who is now 7 yo, has been going there since she was four months old and loves it! I have taken her there for daycare, boarding and have used their drop-off service. In addition, I find their prices reasonable. Also, HDC has recently changed ownership, and the new owners, Shanna and Jack, are fantastic! They are warm and welcoming and are doing renovations to the whole space which of course, includes both the daycare area and the boarding area. What they've done so far is lovely and there is great attention to detail. Finally, now that Gracie is older, she is not really interested in "romping" much with the other dogs. So at this stage in her life, I love that there is plenty of room there for her to just hang out with the staff (a big shout out to Cody!!!) and enjoy watching the other dogs without having to be in the middle of the action (unless she wants to be). The bottom line is that HDC is Gracie's home away from home! read more

Great place, great staff only place that I trust with my puppies for daycare and boarding. One of my puppies chewed their harness while being dropped of from daycare by them. They replaced it the next day no problem. This shows how much there customers mean to them. I use them twice a week for daycare and every time I need boarding no worries or problems. read more

Having previously worked in the doggy daycare business, I can honestly say I wasn't sure anywhere would be good enough for my dog. Hingham Dog Care has gone above and beyond my expectations. The employees come out to my car to walk my dog inside so I don't even have to do anything but open the door. They all greet my dog by name and are always excited to see him. The prices are fair. As a groomer and vet tech student, dogs are my life. Mine is honestly like my baby. There's not many people that I would trust him with but Hingham Dog Care absolutely tops the list. We were excited to use this service, but the dog sitter was 30 minutes late. I started calling to find out where the sitter was after 10 minutes late. We have a brand new puppy who cannot wait an extra 30 minutes to go to the bathroom. I was told the sitter was running late on walks and would be there asap. I scheduled a certain time for a reason. If walks were running late, another sitter should have been sent out. I called and asked for the owner to get back to me asap to work out the issue. The woman on the phone said she was sending him my info as we spoke. It's been a few weeks and not a peep. Unreliable and unprofessional. Had I heard back from the owner in a timely manner, I probably would have given them a second chance. read more

We dropped off our dog for boarding. Before sending him in I took the time to fill separate food bags with instruction on how to feed. We use Stella and Otis brand food so the food is in the form of patties. Upon picking up the dog there were six unused food servings so I know that my dog was hungry. I had also taken the time to purchase chew treats for the dog (bully sticks) as a treat. None of those were ever given to my dog. Upon picking up my dog the inside of the establishment had a strong smell which caused us to run over to the un-leashed to give him a bath. We also left a kennel for the dog to use for bed time. The blanket that was used came home dirty from feces and the kennel was filled with long hair. My dog is a Havanese and does not shed. I will never bring my dog back to this place, and I hope that you do not either. read more

WOW! this place cost me my vacation! I had booked dog walking/sitting service for a week. Did that about a month ago. Wes and another employee were suppose to meet at our house as arranged to go over everything. After leaving three messages with three different employees, he has just blown us off!!!!!! I've lost money and no vacation due to this place!!!! I thought this place would be the answer to our dreams since they have playtime, grooming, and walking service. Also took my 2 dogs to get bathed and nails clipped. They don't blow dry the dogs-just air dry and I don't think the nails were even touched. I think they grew too fast and are now overwhelmed. Wes initally seemed like a great guy, but after doing this to us, he deserves to go out of business!!!! read more

We dropped our doodle here for only one night. When we picked her up, she smelled strongly of urine- the whole place did. We immediately took her home and bathed the smell off. Oh, and by the way, she was treated for kennel cough several days later. Never again! read more

When you love your dog as much as I love my french bulldog, Rocky, you don't just trust them with anyone. Wes and the staff at HDC treat every dog like they were their own! I have had my dog attend their day care program where he was able to socialize in a safe, monitored, FUN environment. I have had him groomed at HDC, and I must say it was the best grooming experience we have had. His nails were perfectly short and filed soft, not left rough and sharp! I have tried a number of boarding kennels around the greater Boston area and even though HDC is a bit of a drive for me, they are hands-down the best! I have two dogs that go to Hingham Dog Care and they love it. The staff is friendly, the facility is very well maintained and most of all our dogs are well cared for and have a great time. They are in a great location and have a huge indoor and outdoor area for dogs to run and play. Our dogs are high energy and when we pick them up they are happy and tired. I especially like the hours that this business is open as it's friendly to people who commute for work, I don't have to race home or watch the clock to get there for drop off or closing - it's so convenient. I've had nothing but good experiences with Hingham dog care and my dogs love being there as well. We are regulars for boarding and daycare as well as the drop off or pick up service. My dogs board at least once a month due to work and family obligations, and i utilize the daycare for long days at the office, so I've used them quite a bit. I haven't had any issues since I began using this facility over a year ago. The staff are kind and professional ( and my dogs love them ALL). The owner has been extremely helpful with last minute change of plans always accommodating to my schedule when something goes awry. I am very comfortable with the staff who walk and drop off the dogs, they take good care of them and are respectful of my property (Water for the dogs, Locking doors, picking up after the dogs when they walk etc.).
