This is by far my favorite place to bring my dog to get his nails done! We have been going here for almost a year. Amanda is amazing. Even though my dog is difficult, she is always welcoming. The other employees are also friendly and understanding of my dog's needs. Whenever we walk in we are kindly greeted and whoever is at the front desk will go get Amanda for us without even needing to ask! My dog is a very anxious pup, we have been kicked out and turned away from other groomers. I was bringing him to the vet for his nails for a while but it was very inconvenient with their business hours and honestly the vet even struggled with him. I can't say enough good things about The Dog House. I have been bringing my puggle here for day care, overnight care, and bathing for the past 11 years, and he is always excited to go. I ask him if he wants to go play with the doggies, and he jumps up and down and races to get in the car! A couple of years ago, I added a small min pin to our menagerie and wasn't sure how he'd do with so many other dogs, but he also loves going. The staff is genuinely affectionate with the dogs. My dogs always greet the staff with wagging tails and get lots of petting and attention. Amanda does a really great job not only looking after them but with their bathing and grooming. Was told one thing by one of the employees and when I came in apparently what I was told was incorrect information but THE OWNER called me the liar. Like I made up what one of his employees told me. My Boston Terrier, Ollie ("Little Ollie"), loves the Dog House. He is thrilled to head into the door every day (and this is not true of the other daycares he sometimes has to go to when I'm in a different office location for the day)...and he comes home exhausted (major perk for my high energy pup). Other Positives!: The staff all know him by name, and all staff members I have met are friendly. They also genuinely appear to love dogs. Ollie is able to eat a late breakfast/lunch at the Dog House on days where he's too lazy to eat before we have to leave for work. I think having the indoor/outdoor space is really nice for the dogs and it helped to reinforce potty training while he was in the earlier phases. The Dog House has an IG and it's nice to see pictures of the pups in the play space. The bulk package is a good deal for the pups who come on a regular basis. read more

This is just my experience, but, from what I can tell (there's a a camera you can watch from the front) the dogs don't DO much all day - just sort of stand around. There doesn't seem to be a very positive energy, and my dog came home stressed out as can be which is not normal at all. I have to trust my gut on this one, and find another option more well-suited for us. read more

We absolutely LOVE The Dog House! My girls been going since she was 12 weeks old. She loves it! Drags me into the place....can't wait for one of them to come & bring her into the back. Steve, the owner, has the most dedicated people working for him. He's lucky, as are all of us who trust out beloved pets with them. They know what they're doing and how to do it. I have complete faith in very person who works there. They want nothing but the best for the dogs. They love & care for them. There's a tv in front of the store where you can watch all of the dogs in the back running around and playing. You hope yours is the one behaving There's also overnight boarding offered. My girl has stayed there quite a bit. With our old dog we always needed someone to stay at our house with him. Boarding wasn't an option. The younger you start your dog the better!! Better for the dog (and a great break for you!). They'll naturally adapt to the large number of dogs that can be there on any individual day. I took my dog there and he passed the interview but the more i left him there the more he seemed to be stressed out at home and not enjoying his day care sessions. My dog is a Jack Russell and not big by any means but the staff ended up calling me to notify me that they would no longer be accepting him since he seemed to be causing trouble. The funny thing about this is that we have had no other issues when it comes to his day care or boarding. Bottom line, if you need boarding or day care, look at Brian's Kennels, they did a great job of taking care of our little one and actually having patience unlike others ............. yes talking about you The Dog House.. read more

to update my original post: I was originally going to simple take the financial loss and regret ever coming here but the owner asked me to give them another chance regarding the day care. She asked that I bring my dog in on a Saturday when less dogs are there and see how my dog did. I eventually did with some heavy doubt but my dog came out unharmed. I've sense taken her back three more times in the last 6 months and no issues have arisen. They have also changed their layout to be more segregated for the smaller dogs from the larger dogs or those that want to take a break, which I think helped my particular dog. I will likely never take my dog on a daily basis, but I feel comfortable bringing her there again weekly for some exercise during the winter. I also agree with the other posters that their grooming process is very good. read more

We were new to the area and had just received a rescue dog that was very timid. I can't say enough about the staff!!! They are absolutely accommodating and loving to all the animals in their care. I have been going to The Dog House for YEARS, when they used to be in Needham. It's worth going a few miles to their new home on the Dedham/Westwood/Norwood line. I used to request that Chrissy, the owner, do the grooming but ALL of the groomers do a great job and I would trust any one of them. One of my dogs is a difficult dog to groom (because she's a nervous wreck) but they take her in stride. Their location is great - there are some nice shops in the strip mall where they're located including Lambert's Fruits, a fantastic French Bakery, a Dollar Store and Dunkin Donuts. In the spring, summer and fall Lambert's has an outdoor tent full of beautiful flowers. It should be mentioned that The Dog House offers a great cut for a fair price. Highly recommend! read more

I've been bringing my Patrick in for 2 years and he loves it here. He is a rescue and is generally very happy but can be skittish probably due to past mistreatment. I have a second job north of Boston and have started looking around for a daycare there for those days. After researching other day cares and boarders and visiting them, I have discovered that not all doggie daycares are created equal. The places around my other job are dirty and smelly and the reviews are terrible! These other daycares have several reports of dogs being mistreated and scared to go back. I love the staff at The Dog House! My Patrick always comes home happy tired. read more

The Dog House does something magical with the dogs in their care - my golden runs right in to get playing with the other dogs. The people that work here are the kindest, most skilled dog lovers - they know how to keep the play happy and under control. I moved over an hour away and tried another daycare - and now I know how special the Dog House is. So now I drive over an hour to take my dog here because I know she's loved and happy. Nothing in the world would make me and my dogs go back, when owner to my email her first response was " I hope this isn't a past employee with bad blood"next she stated that they have cameras and enough staff. What good are cameras if you only see them when u arrive and depart ?? Staff noooo!!!! Too many dogs, maybe one staff or the owners husband who likes to jam his fingers into the dogs. If you want your dog's hurt, this is the place to go. Do your research!!! there are many more out there, even if u have to travel a extra few miles. It's TOTALLY worth it !!!!! read more

This is unfortunately not a place for young dogs. I took my puppy there today for his evaluation and he understandably failed. They have a double gate set up that initially I was very excited about, but instead of using it they carried in my 4 month old puppy and dropped him in a pile of huge dogs! He panicked and tried to hide and ended up lashing out because he didn't get the space he needed to calm down and become acclimated. I thought well maybe this is my fault, and I definitely thought that after they asked if I socialized my dog (which I did, he's attended socialization classes with the MSPCA, and is doing wonderful at basic obedience, and does great at dog parks, and enjoys many dogs where I work). I asked around to other trainers and people who also run daycares and they say they separate dogs by temperament, size, and age. They don't do that at the dog house. The icing on top of the cake was the statement a worker said after I said maybe we should try when he's older.... "maybe when he toughens up." ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! It's not about the toughness of your dog, they shouldn't be dumped into an overwhelming high energy situation without proper introductions. So if you want to keep your puppy from having an awful experience that will effect them when they are older look elsewhere. read more

I am super picky about where to bring my ragdoll cat for grooming since she's my baby. After trying out many places, I finally found a groomer that takes care of my Lucy and gives her a great lion cut. George is a great groomer who really takes good care of her since she has bilateral luxating patella in her back legs. He does an amazing job with her lion cut. The most important part is when I bring her home, she acts her usual self as opposed to hiding when I used to take her to other groomers before. Definitely an awesome place! read more

I've been taking my dogs to The Dog House since they were in Needham Center -- our dogs run in to see the groomers and come home quite tired after being in day care. Christie keeps a clean "house" and has taken care of our dogs since they were puppies. Highly recommend! read more

Really fun to watch the dogs on the monitor in the lobby. I brought my sisters dog(doodle) to get groomed while she was away and he came back looking like a star. He even was a little matted and they worked them out without him coming back shaved like they did at Petco! Thanks George! read more

Will never take my wonderful cocker spaniel back to this groomer. Found them not to be very caring or understanding with the grooming of my amazing dog. Salon even tried to sue me,saying that my adorable cocker bit the owner during the grooming ! Was never shown,of course any evidence of any bite,when I came to pick up my dog,that afternoon.It was just like any other day at the salon,except maybe that they appeared to be overbooked and "rushed" that day,to be paying proper attention to the dogs,in their care.When I left the salon that day,I was told to make sure I bring my dog back to the salon again,saying " It's part of the job,goes with the territory". Waited 2 yrs before trying to sue me ! Needless to say,the ridiculous lawsuit was swiftly dismissed and salon was never able to profit from its careless + negligent behaviour. Shame on them.....trying to sue and shake down one of its own clients to make a few $$$,especially from such an adorable and good natured dog that loves everybody.Just look at her picture !
