When they get it right, it is fantastic food. Unfortunately the last few times we picked up, our order was incorrect in one way or another. In addition, there isn't always consistency in the amount or placement of toppings. Would recommend dining in as opposed to picking up for these reasons. There's almost nothing better than a hot, fresh out of the oven pepperoni pizza from Shirkeys. I had a lunch meeting there and had a personal pepperoni pizza and half of an Italian salad. Both were excellent and I have been thinking about that pizza for a long time. The place itself has in door and out door sweating, a bar and plenty of other seating. This small town pizza shop is a hidden gem with delicious pizzas & great service. A friend recommended it & we are so glad we tried it. The chicken bacon ranch was delicious, perfectly baked and topped to perfection. You can tell they take great pride in their pizzas. The crust was crispy yet chewy, the sauce seasoned just right. Wow. Pizza is always great! There is something for everyone here. They have gluten free cauliflower crust that is so delicious! As for those people who love their carbs; their BLT pizza is to die for. Crust on the top and bottom of the pizza and it is truly unique. For those people who like a little spice, I recommend the sweet heat pizza. A special in house made sauce that leaves your mouth watering. I grew up in Carroll and as a teenager worked there when it was the Pizza Cottage, the Pizza Crossing, and The Crossing, so I have a sentimental attachment to the place, so I'm so glad that it's still open and that it's come so far since then! It's grown and been refurbished, incorporating the building next door (which used to be Fisher's Meats). Very good food and really nice people. The waitress was very attentive and the owner stopped by our table to say hello and ask how things were. All the way pizza is very good and the toppings are very plentiful. Another person said the crust was thin, but ours was a medium thick crust with very chewy ends. Delicious.
