If you're looking for something small and cozy then this is the place. There aren't any trails in this immediate area so hiking is out of the question. There were a few sandy beach outlets for the swimmers though. With our site, we were able to fit 4 tents in the area. The site was only $18, and yes, it was the most basic without the outlets. There was a nice fire pit area though where we enjoyed the warm fire. Our area overlooked the water. Well, it was sort of blocked by the trees, but it was still nice to have the water view. And as mentioned earlier, the beach was super close. There were restroom facilities with shower stalls.

There are so many great water-front sites here. Some sites are really close to each other, but others have a lot of privacy. Check it out before booking. Overall really great place, will definitely go again. The bathrooms were out of service on our loop, but we brought a popup bathroom.

Great hidden boat ramp/campsite! It's not as crowded as the other boat ramps are! $8 daily parking. The parking meter is kinda hidden. It's over towards the dock. Make sure you pay! Someone drives around & checks cars for paid parking passes. So far, no problems with known break-in but keep valuables with yourself just in case.

Beautiful Campground. Lots of water views. Good crew running. Open when several US Corp parks are closed.

I wanted to wait a few days before writing this review -- truthfully, I wanted to wait until after…read morewe checked out. I dreaded the retribution of Mrs. Cynthia "Cindy" Farmer, the campground manager, which I was sure would follow. Our church group had been looking forward to this camping trip for nearly a year. I've personally camped at Bald Ridge Creek Campground many times and never had a single issue -- until now. Our church typically takes two group trips a year at another Forsyth County campground, but this year, we decided to rent nine sites at Bald Ridge. Even Cindy seemed excited that we were coming! We're a Baptist group -- not exactly known for our wild nights. We sing, we fellowship, and we're back in our campers by 10 p.m. But according to "Queen Cindy," you'd think we were a pack of college kids throwing keg parties. Our crime? An evening of worship and fellowship -- a small keyboard, a guitar, and around 50 people spread over three campsites for a couple of hours each night. Cindy declared it an "event" (apparently forbidden) and told us we couldn't do it again and threatened to make us all leave. She also banned us from eating together -- saying we could gather while serving food but had to disperse to our own campsites immediately once we got our plates. The only actual rule violation came from one site where a tent wasn't put up right away. Cindy seized on that excuse to call dispatch and have three sheriff's deputies sent to "deal with" our peaceful group of families, children, and worshipers. To their credit, the deputies couldn't have been kinder, yet embarrassed that they even had to be there. They laughed at the situation, noting they're called out to the campground frequently because of Cindy's pettiness and made-up rules. They said our little keyboard -- which Cindy had described like it was a baby grand piano -- was no problem at all. They simply advised us to set up the tent and let her stomp it out. Cindy even claimed that someone had called the Corps of Engineers to report us -- at 7:00 p.m., during the government shutdown, when the office wasn't even open. For context, Cindy lives at the campground for free as part of her role as host. It's time for someone new to take over. She also wears a body camera and records campers (which is legal, I know), but as a county employee, those recordings are public record. We'll continue to pray without ceasing for her -- that the Lord softens her heart. But until then, I can't recommend Bald Ridge Creek Campground to anyone who values fair treatment, hospitality, or simple human kindness.

Everything about this campground is great, from the beauty of Lake Lanier to the incredible sites…read moreand of course the professional management team that excels in your expectations! We have been happy campers here for the last 23 years. Thank you Cindy Farmer and team for your hospitality!

Cooper Creek Campground is absolutely the most beautiful, off the beaten path, places I've ever…read moretraveled and it's practically in Atlanta's back yard! Located on the beautiful and noisy Cooper/Mulky Creek just an hour north of Dahlonega up Hwy 60 and then up some of the most beautiful and winding mountain roads that make you think you're never going to get there! By the time you turn on to Forest Service Rd 236 (a beautiful and peaceful dirt mountain road that climbs up through the pine and hardwood forests), you realize there is something amazing waiting for you. And there is. Cooper Creek Campground is like reaching a little slice of heaven. Fifteen campsites scatter through out the lush forest, and five of them sit right on the banks of Cooper/Mulky Creek. I advise getting there early during the week so you can get a creek side spot ... there is nothing like it! The creek is rocky and noisy and if you fish, the trout are plentiful! I walked the loop and all of the campsites were beautiful and within easy walking distance to the creek. As a solo hiker and camper, I chose spot #1 for the way the creek opened up and the trees opened up around my tent site to give me a clear view of a beautiful moon. I also liked the quiet solitude of this site ... few cars passed here since it's on the back loop. The campground hosts also live two spots up. As an avid (delirious almost) rock stacker, I fell in love with this creek. The rocks are amazing and perfect for stacking and balancing. It was so relaxing I stacked till after dark and was up just after sunrise stacking again! The pine cones in camp are plentiful, so I got a good pine smoke going and didn't have the first mosquito or black fly. I'm telling you ... this place is heaven! After dark a bunch of deer came through my camp and lapped at the creek for almost a half hour. Two fawns frolicked in the fern thickets next to my tent for a while and were bouncing around like puppies! With the light of the moon, I felt like I had a front row seat for natures big show that night! Also, there are synchronous fireflies here, which surprised me. Just after dark during the Summer Solstice, I thought it was kids playing with flashlights, but it was fireflies, all blinking in unison! It was amazing! I can't WAIT to go back! In fact, now that I'm home, I'm missing it. Cooper Creek is open year round and keep their gates open 24 hours a day. You won't get a phone signal here, so you may as well turn it off ... the solitude is amazing! Each site has a tent pad, grills, lantern pole and a picnic table. There are also bear bins that are an easy walk from each site for discarding trash. For hikers, you won't be disappointed. There are five interconnected trails that start in or near the camping area (Yellow Mountain Trail- 3.2 miles, Connector Trail- 0.4 miles, Mill Shoals Trail- 0.9 miles, Shope Gap Trail- 0.6 miles, and Cooper Creek Trail- 1.7). I found myself hiking in and out and exploring trail after trail. The abundance of trees at Cooper Creek keep the temperatures down, much cooler than up on the main road. I paid $10 a night for my site. There are faucets for drinking water and there are two vaults for bathrooms. There are no electric hook ups or dump stations. Primitive camping at it's finest! There are no reservations ... everything is first come, first serve. Have fun everyone!
