My wife and I have shopped for shoes for many years at the Salem Center Shoe Mill store. One reason is that before going to this store; we were like a couple of "lost soles" when it came to getting the right type of shoe and the right fit. I have a wide foot and deep in-step and my wife had suffered a couple of bouts with plantar fasciitis. Their manager Bruce helped my wife to get into a good pair of walking shoes for a trip to Ireland which made all the walking there more enjoyable. Bruce is an old time shoe salesman who knows his shoes, how they are made, how to ensure a good fit, and which shoes work best for which purpose. Best shoe store I have discovered lately. My daughter needed shoes recommended by her podiatrist and Shoe Mill carries the particular brand, Joya. Jeff Dillon, the sales associate who helped her, was very thorough in his explanation of the Joya shoes versus another brand and even had her try both shoes to demonstrate the difference in comfort as well as fit. They did not have the shoe she chose in her size, so he contacted another store to obtain the shoe in her size as well as giving her a choice of mail to her home or delivery to the store so she could pick them up. Was in the Salem, Oregon store today with my wife. Above buying a new pair of shoes for my wife; the service we received was exceptional by Jeff Dillon and Zaniah Alawadh. I had a wonderful experience at the Shoe Mill! The help was courteous and knowledgeable. They graciously trimmed and fit the heel insert that I got from the physical therapist into the shoes I already had, instead of trying to sell me a new pair of athletic shoes. I was also looking for a shoe I could just quickly slip into. Instead of selling me the one I was looking at, they suggested one they had on clearance. I received fast and pleasant service and they saved me a ton of money as well!! I will definitely go back and recommend this store to others! read more

Great service and comfy styles. I have really wide feet and it's hard to find shoes that don't squish my feet all day that are also cute. The salesperson actually fitted my feet and suggested a few styles for me to try. Much more helpful than the huge national chain stores. Even thought it was busy I was able find a shoe for work, finally, since I am on my feet all day. He told me to check out their page for a free sock giveaway. We went to the Shoe Mill yesterday and dealt with Bruce and his staff. This place has changed for the better. The staff were kind helpful extremely knowledgeable and friendly. My husband and I received excellent service from Marie. She gave us space while looking and was ready as soon as we had a question. She worked with us to help me get the boots that I was looking for. I brought my 84 year old Mother in to buy shoes that she felt stable in. Bruce was very patient with her took a lot of time to explain things. He also gave us a great tip on restoring her old shoes so that her feet wouldn't slide around. Worked like a charm. We walked away very happy with the service and the product. read more
