Went in to have a broken metal eyelet repaired on a leather boot. Said it would take 1/2 an hour so my husband and I went and had lunch, true to their word. It was ready. Price was reasonable and could hardly tell one eyelet was different from the other. Very good experience. read more

Guys in there kept asking me where I was from, if I have a boyfriend, and if I worked in the mall where this spot is at. Pretty uncomfortable. A joke. When i walked in, the guy was sitting behind the counter with his legs up eating McDonalds. The desk was covered with his food. I asked to have my birks repaired. Need a new sole. He said he could have them done by next week and it would cost $100. The sandals didnt cost that new. I told him no that was too expensive and i could buy a new pair for much less. He then said $75 and he would throw in a sealant for free. I agreed until he stated the only accept cash. (I haven't carried cash in years). He then pulled out a Birk sole 46 (12.5 shoe size). I told him my size is 45 (12) and he said he could cut the sole down to 45. Cutting down a Birk sole isnt an option as it would ruin the cork sole. Was useless to explain. I had brought in a pair of wedges to get cleaned up and repaired. The owner gave me a quote of a high price and started negotiating the price down to something more reasonable. I told him that I would rather buy a new pair of the same shoe for the price he told me so he brought the price down ten dollars. My boyfriend is VERY passionate about shoe care and came in looking for a specific shoe cream. Instead, the man asked to see one of his shoes (brand new, moderately expensive shoes) and without warning or asking for permission just started applying all of these different things on my boyfriends shoe. Only afterwards was my boyfriend able to express his opinion on how he likes to take care of his own shoes and the man responded with something along the lines of "we've been doing this for X amount of years" etc. I do not doubt his knowledge -- what he did was rude regardless. My boyfriend bought one of the three products used. He was charged $5 more than what was on the price tag of the product (we only saw the price tag later on). We later found the same product online for 1/4 of the price my boyfriend paid. My boyfriend came back to the store to let the man know he felt uncomfortable with what he had done, and the man apologized and said he didn't know. I too had worn heels on my black pumps. I had come to this place a year or so ago, and remembered being quite satisfied, so i decided to give it a second go. I walked in and told the guy that i just wanted the heal fix. He said that i should get the soles of my shoes fixed cause they looked kind of worn. Ok sure..."how much is that gonna cost me?" Not happy with this place in the least. I have never taken any footwear or luggage to be repaired there, but they make keys so that's what I'm reviewing here. I had to get quite a few keys made for work and I figured I was in the mall anyway so I stopped in to see what they can do for me. The man working was nice enough and was able to start making the keys right away which is nice. He told me to come back in about 15 minutes. I come back, get my keys and pay him $25 for 5 keys. Wow. Orchard Supply Hardware charges about half that and most of the keys they make actually work the first time around, which brings me to my next point which is, no, the keys did not work. First he used the wrong blanks so I had to go back and have him remake them with the correct blanks, which I pointed out to him. He re-cut them using the correct blanks this time, but when I tried them out at work, they still didn't work. I held the key copy side by side with my original key and saw that the teeth on the copy did not line up with the original keys. I am furious at this point. They refuse to give refunds as well. They'll remake them once or twice, but no refunds whatsoever. I'm out $25 and no spare keys. Take your business elsewhere, people. It's not, at all, worth the headache. Side note, he also got into a verbal confrontation with one of my coworkers before and I know my coworker is not the type of guy with a quick temper. He's very level-headed so that leads me to believe that this guy at Shoe Stop doesn't think he makes mistakes. Yeah, buddy, you do. Brought in a small black purse to get cleaned, the strap reattached and the brand name plate reattached. Charged $54, which is far more than I wanted to pay. I just went with it. Was told it would be ready the next day. 3 days later, I picked up the purse (I had work so I couldn't pick it up for a few days). Looked really good! Clean, strap was attached and name plate was good. I went home an hour later and the name plate falls off. It was clear it wasn't fixed whatso ever. I was super annoyed. The next day, I brought the purse back in to get it fixed, or else I was going to demand my money back. The guy apologized and said he didn't understand me the first time. Which makes me think, "he charged me $10 for something he didn't know what I meant?" Which was really annoying. He decided to fix it finally for free. Next day, I went in and picked it up. When I went to pick them up an employee of the Repair Shop could not locate the shoes. He kept looking thru the Women's shoes, I said they are Men's shoes, black. He looks thru the Men's shoes. Did you lose them or give them to someone else? I told him to look in the back. He still can't find them. He finds the shoes and slams them on the counter at me. Now I am pissed, but I kept my calm, which I am so trying to do nowadays! I directly tell him not to have attitude with me because he couldn't locate the shoes. He then puts them into a bag and slams them down again. I repeat myself and say I will wait for his boss. He then tells me directs me to sit, unbelievable, that didn't happen and I had a few words for him on that. I split both the soles of my riding boots and wore through the heel cap, into the heel base. They are, however, the most comfortable boots I have ever owned. I priced repairs in the city and was quoted $60. I thought it was steep so I decided to check the cobbler at the mall. I was quoted $55. I also wanted to soles replaced with rubber because I was tired of slipping and embarrassing myself. I wasn't prepared to pay first but they took my boots anyways. Having checked with another cobbler, I know the price is legit. FIVE STARS on the quality of their repairs. I'm a heavy walker and I wanted a little more meat on my heels. My boots were totally redyed and they look fantastic. I believe in paying more for lasting quality and comfort and treating your shoes like an investment. When I complained I got the run around and different people were blaming each other. Then I was told to wait one week and talk to the owner. That never happened. I had to take the loss. FOOLED ME TWICE! Shame on me. I should have known better though. Read ahead for an honest account of what you're in for... I walked in the shop yesterday to retrieve my items after leaving them for 4 days. There were 5 or 6 men sitting around the front of the shop. Employees? Friends of an employee? Certainly not customers. I handed one gentleman who appeared to be an employee my ticket. After about 5 minutes of digging through what was presumably a backroom storage closet, the man returns with 4 bags. He needs me to tell him which ones are mine. It seems that they don't feel the need to label items as they come in to the store. I inspect the items and point out that in one case the job is less then satisfactory and in another case totally botched. I asked for the job to be done according to our agreement. He says he can't do the repair and promptly calls someone on the telephone and hands the phone to me to explain the situation. I now have an audience of several "Friends" of the store while I try to request a resolution. The man (manager?) on the phone says that he will return to the store in 2 hours and that I should leave the items for him to inspect. I told him that I had already left the items in his care for 4 days and that I would be unable to return and would like a refund. "Unfortunately, he can't authorize a refund". I guess this wasn't a manager after all? Who was I talking to? Perhaps an employee who just pocketed the cash? That's not really my concern. My only concern is that I get what I pay for... My Items Northface Backpack I brought in a really nice Northface backpack to have a small pocket zipper replaced. They replaced the zipper with what appears to be the smallest (and probably fake) ykk zipper ever. Did I have to tell these guys to match the zipper with the other zippers on the bag? Apparently so. The zipper itself is tough to open - the sewing job is poorly done. Stevie Wonder could have done better. Grade : D+ Kate Spade Purse I also brought in my wife's KateSpade purse to have a busted seam sewn up. What I got in return was a half closed poorly glued purse. Basically ruined. Grade : F Mistake #1 My first mistake was that I went to The Shoe Stop in the first place. They botched a job on a pair of my boots about 6 years ago when they were on the other side of the mall. I swore I would not return, but after so many years I hoped maybe something would change. Mistake #2 If you're bringing items in for repair they are probably quality pieces. You paid good money for them or they have some sentimental or monetary value. Do yourself a favor and take your things to a place that cares. I have had good and bad experiences with businesses over the years. I wish that I took the time to point out more of them. I'm a busy father and husband and my time is limited but I felt compelled in this instance because THESE GUYS WILL ACTUALLY STEAL FROM YOU. The reality is, nearly every item in that store can purchased at other locations in the mall and most likely for cheaper. My wife took her heels here to have a strap repaired and charged her $35.00 up front she went to pick them up today and they are all scuffed up and there is clamp marks on the strap area. She told the guy there that she has to wear these to a funeral tomorrow he kept shaking his head at her like he knew they were bad and kept saying she would have to "take it up with the owner" Well not happy not going to recommend or use them again unless they rectify this but now a little late considering she will need to wear them tomorrow. not sure how the "owner" can rectify it !! I was at the mall in my favorite knee high black leather flat boots, and I realized my feet were wet from the rain. Turns out there were very small holes in the bottom of both of my shoes! Insert sad face here. After I went and bought a new pair of shoes, I stopped by Shoe Stop to see if my boots could be saved. The guy assured me that my boots could be fixed, rang me up (minus one star for having to pay in advance), and told me I'd be set to go by Wednesday. I went in today to pick up my boots, the guy remembered me, had my boots at the counter, and I was out of there in no time. The new sole is twice as thick and he even replaced the inside. Shoe Stop in Concord has fixed several of my family's items: belts, zipper on backpack, purse straps, shoe straps, etc. The best they've done for me is when they replaced the heels on my old brown Suede Boots. Their replacement looks even better than the original. In fact, my boots are even less slippery - a plus for 3" heels. When I get compliments on my "new shoes", I let folks know I got them from Kinney's. (If you're old enough, you'll know these are old boots.) Once in a while I'll go to the Antioch shop if in the area, but generally I prefer Concord, because I really like their quickness, price and overall result. read more

Weeks before i even brought in the purse i wanted fixed i went in to ask him how much he would charge to re stitch a strap on a purse he said $15 ( he didnt even ask the brand material nothing) seemed like a great price so i brought in my vintage louis vuitton bag. The minute he saw what brand it was he said $ 85. I reminded him i came in a few weeks ago and he told me a different price. He insisted it was because it needed more work than I thought and he needed to reinforce both straps and then he would put the stitching on. I was hesitant but i said ok...then he says you pay now. Once i paid he said it will be ready in 2 days. Mind you i never told him i needed it by a specific date nor rushed him. But since HE told me 2 days i showed up in 2 days and the only thing that was done was the reinforcement of the straps. No stitches like he had said. So while i was there he kept insisting that my zipper needed to be cleaned and that it was $60 because of a special solution but for me he would charge me only $30. I wasnt interested at the time and told him next time...he kept insisting. My father was with me and just gave him the money even though i wasnt too convinced. I asked him to show me the solution and he kind of smiled and said i dont have it. One of my guys will bring it tomorrow. He again said come back in 2 days it will be ready. I waited over 2 days gave him 1 week when i show up hes not there some other guy was there and he showed it to me and it looked exactly the same from the last time i was there. I was livid... i dont appreciate when people play with my time or money. I dont live in the area and it takes up my time to go there. He got him on the phone and he kept saying he was sorry and he's been very busy but he would have it ready in 2 days.
