A year ago, I was referred to Shoes by Sam in my search to repair a piece of luggage that had a broken handle and a box cutter cut on the front panel (thanks to airport abuse). Mr Sam beautifully repaired something I thought was a loss for a fraction of the cost (and less time) than quoted from luggage repair shops. Before going to Mr. Sam, I already had a closer shop that did a good job in reparing shoes. After seeing the excellent job Mr. Sam did on my luggage, I decided to drive 15 miles further to take all my business to him for the convenience of having a "One-Stop-Shop" for all my repair needs (shoes, purses, and luggage). What's prompted me to write now after a year of patronizing Shoes by Sam, is I was just Awe-struck to learn that he also cuts heels that are too high to perfection...who knew?! I entrusted him to shorten brand new heels I just bought from Macy's that were waaay too high for me to walk in. You should see them...and should see me getting my strut on in my new shoes and boots...now at a comfortable height. Overall, I'm so pleased with Mr. Sam's consistent, excellent service and his courteous disposition. I don't personally know Mr. Sam, nor have I ever received any perks from him. Hi! My name is Dianne. I have 2 pair of Cole Haan loafers from the '80's that had holes in them, the stitching around the shoes were out in several places, the soles had holes and the leather was in bad shape. Mr. Sam, at Shoes by Sam in Lilburn, showed me how he could repair them and that it might take 5 days or so. when I went to pick up one pair two days later, he actually had both pairs ready!!! I've had these shoes repaired maybe 2-3 times, but I must say he did the best job I've seen!! They are absolutely gorgeous!! Not perfect because they were so damaged, but darn close!! I would recommend Shoes by Sam to anyone. I will go back for my shoe repair needs and am going to take my leather purse there to have it refurbished - the leather polished. I took six pairs of boots aging from 1 year to 11 years old. I am rough and the boots showed it. Also, our new puppy ate fringe and other bits on one pair. Sam brought all six pairs of boots back to life. My beautiful, comfortable 11 year old dress boots look almost new. The fringe is neatly secured on the other pair. Sam did a terrific job on all of them. To add to the quality of his work, his customer service is excellent. When he knew he could not be finished with the boots at the originally agreed time, Sam called me to work out a later time. My biggest regret was that I did not take my husband's shoes with me when I picked up my large box of boots. I will be going back to Shoes by Sam's at the end of the winter for him to address the destruction I did to his great work. read more

Sam provided excellent service by taking the time to ensure the elevated shoe he made for my niece would be a perfect fit. It turned out that my niece had purchased the wrong size shoe and he tried several sizes and types of support insets to ensure the elevated shoe would fit and not be uncomfortable and that her foot would not hurt . We're going to try out the shoe for a week. We are already considering bringing in some of her other shoes to get them elevated. FYI, her left leg is shorter than her right and her hips hurt from the unevenness of her walking. Sam was very knowledgeable, friendly and extremely helpful. It was such a pleasant surprise to find a true shoe and leather craftsman in Gwinnett County. Sam saved my favorite pair of black pumps (Gucci). After 9 years of use, one of the heels fractured and other well know shoe repair places said that they could not be repaired. He worked wonders and you cant even see where it happened. Also, he reconstructed my favorite flat black sandals (Gucci) that my dog used as a chew toy. Finally, he is modifying 2 pair of Stuart Weitzman boots to accommodate my calves. I can't even give a recommendation based on the phone call I just had with them. Called to inquire if they repair the heel tips on a pair of Kate Spade heels. The person who answered was extremely rude. Saying do we? I said I don't know that's why I'm calling. He then went on to say they are a shoe repair place. I'm sorry but if you cannot even be polite when someone calls to ask a question on services you offer. You won't be getting a penny from me. Normally I won't even leave a review. But I'm simply flabbergasted by the rudeness. Not everyone will repair certain chosen. So being a shoe repair shop doesn't mean you fix all types. read more

I have been letting Mr. Sam repair all of my shoes and boots for over five years. Mr. Sam told me that I wear nice shoes. My father buys his shoes at Lenox square which are very expensive, Mr. Sam repairs his shoes. The customer service is the best. I consider Mr Sam a family member. People come from the Buckhead area to get their shoes repaired from Mr. Sam. Local celebrities get their shoes repaired from Mr. Sam when I have been in his shoe shop. While in Lilburn yesterday, I had the most fun in the history of the world ever at a shoe repair store! Sam was super friendly and (more importantly) very knowledgeable in his art & showed me what a previous repair shop did wrong w/my last repair in my hometown of dalton... I'm sure elsewhere I would have paid $15-$20 more for an inferior repair. Plus as an added bonus, Sam's shine after putting on my new heals made my 4 year old Allen Edgemonds look brand new!
