Our server was delightful. Cocktails were wonderful. Seared tuna salad delicious. Sashimi not so much.

Tuna Tartare

Honestly, only decent restaurant in Elizabethtown. I ended staying around this area because I didn't know anything about KY. Thank goodness for them because if not I would have had to eat hardy, fried, non vegetable foods. The only reason I don't give them 5 stars is because they are definitely catering to a more southern crowd, so a lot of the dishes are high in carbs. For example , the tuna tartare was served on bread and it wasn't really tartared, the tuna salad had croutons, too much creamy sauces. Other than that, the service and the salmon was excellent.

Fried rice with their sauce, bistro roll & peach hot sake

Found this place online 2 weekends ago while in e-town for a soccer tournament. Had the fried rice & 2 sushi rolls. I don't remember what they were, it was 2 weeks ago Back in Etown again for soccer, so I'm back here again for my sushi roll, fried rice & ginger salad with a hot sake. The owners are super nice as well!

I've been to shogun many times at multiple locations, but the ones I visited before weren't anything like this location! They had a variety of meats, seafood, hibachi and sushi. They offered cocktails and desserts as well. This place is definitely nicer than the shoguns I've been to in the past. We were excited when we arrived and was told it was only a 10 minute wait. We ended up waiting 30 minutes and was a little confused when another part of two walked in 25 minutes after us, a party of two, and were sat immediately while we were still waiting. We were then sat at a dirty table. After a few minutes, we were greeted and I asked if she would clean the table off. She came back a few minutes later with some dry paper towels...it obviously didn't clean the table so she moved us to another one. We were greeted by a very friendly server. We ordered a spicy salmon tempura roll which came out about 25 minutes after we ordered it and it was cold like it sat on the counter for a while. I ordered a small house salad which on the menu said it had tomatoes, cheese, croutons. I asked for ginger dressing. I got just lettuce with white sauce on it. It was delicious but not at all what I ordered but I was so hungry I wasn't going to complain. Dinner came, he ordered chicken hibachi and I came out fresh and hot. I ordered the seafood roll and a side of rice with white sauce. Just his food was delivered at first and my roll came shortly after. The sushi was very fresh and I liked the roll more than I expected! I waited a while and my rice never came, I heard my server talking about trying to hurry and get off work. I had to kind of shout excuse me multiple times to get her to come back over so I could ask about my rice. She didn't apologize just said oh okay as if I hadn't ordered it earlier. It came out hot and delicious, I love the white sauce! So, our 45minute dinner plans turned into two hours. I asked to see a manager and she said of course. The manager took 10 minutes to finally come over and when he did, he just told me it's not the servers fault. He did apologize and even took $10 off of our bill. Overall, the food was very good, but the service not so much.

Shogun offers the promise of a refined Japanese hibachi steakhouse, but fails to deliver on what matters most: delicious food and good service. After ordering two lunch Bento boxes I was told that they would be ready for pick up in 20 minutes. Arriving 20 minutes later I was first greeted by a health inspection sign posting a score of 91, with two findings relating to contamination. Not a good start. Upon entering, there was a host desk but no host, which forced me to hunt down a server, of which there were only two working that shift. When one was able to break free and speak to me, it was clear that my order had never been fired (I soon watched as it was). I was asked to take a seat at the bar and wait. And wait I did. It was another 15 minutes before I was handed my food. There were three tables and one grill working, so the delay was inexcusable. When I got home and opened the Bentos, what I discovered was disappointment in a plastic box. Wilting salad, dry, flavorless teriyaki chicken (clearly leftover from the previous night's service), and my wife's Bento was filled with overly cooked veggies and the saddest piece of Hamachi ever to be extracted from the sea. From start to finish, the take out lunch was an exercise in patience and futility.

We stopped in here for lunch last weekend on our way back home. I've never been the show gone before so it was a good experience for both of us. Got a teriyaki chicken with rice and I must say it was a good meal. Nice dining establishment and a fun experience we will be back

SUSHI REVIEW. Came here nearly at closing time. Super busy location, but regardless of how long we waited we still wanted to eat here. First and foremost majority of the people who eat here are RUDE AF to the staff. First, if you have to wait 30 minutes, then expect to wait from anytime from 30-45 minutes. If you can't wait, then leave. Also just because you state your vaccinated, doesn't mean you ignore masks rules when you're not eating. Then you have people complaining about all the smallest things. Anyways, after being seated, we were assisted to right away. However our server didn't seem to know the answers to a few things we asked about the things on the menu. Had to wait for her to come back and forth a couple times. My friend and I went with the sushi roll, sashimi, oysters and ramen. Funny story. I wanted oysters, BUTTTT they couldn't serve me the HALF DOZEN, they ONLY had the DOZEN available.... LOL I was laughing out loud. The sushi roll and sashimi was fresh as it should be. However my friends Ramen was so bad. It looked like ramen anyone can make at home. The staff and especially the male host was great. He was always calm regardless of the rude guests.

Best sushi in etown. My husband and I have tried every sushi place in the area and we love this one. Our favorite thing there is the Pink Lady sushi roll. It is sooooo good. We have had great and fast service every time we have been there.

Upside down Shrimp

Review on Sushi only. Food was amazing. Got a Gaisha roll, Upside down shrimp, California roll, and seared scallops. Best sushi I have had in a long while. Sat at the sushi bar, but over all restaurant was clean and nice. Wait staff: Sushi chefs were very helpful and attentive. Waitress I think was busy with tables so I didn't get much attention. Forgot to bring my soup, but was taken off bill easy. Just may have been busy. It happens. Overall fantastic place to eat. Will 100% be back.

On the grill...

Let me start by saying most folks go to Shogun for the teppanyaki (entertaining chef cooking for you... they call it hibachi here at Shogun)... And I'm not sure the word has gotten out about barbecue tables (that's actually what hibachi is... Korean BBQ... butt that's my only snarky criticism). If you haven't tried the bbq tables, I HIGHLY recommend it! We started with a couple of signature drinks, priced at very reasonable $8. We also ordered a Monkey Roll that was excellent.... But onto the BBQ experience... Not only do you get to choose 2-3 proteins from a list that includes scallops, Wagyu beef, filet, NY strip, chicken, etc)... But for $35 for dinner for two, you share an appetizer, each get a salad and soup, as well as veggies, rice and three sauces. With some basic instructions, you're all set to use the grill in the middle of the table to create your own melange and oil/sauce as you wish. The quality of the proteins was exceptional (I had Wagyu and scallops). The experience was fun and the dessert (creme brulee) was a perfect ending, even though we were stuffed before it showed up. Service was well-timed and friendly, as well. All told, I think we have now found our new favorite E-town haunt!

It's located in a little strip mall, with a large parking lot. When we entered we were immediately greeted by two servers and allowed to choose our table. There were several booths and then tables in the middle. It's a smaller restaurant with about 10 tables. The menu has many options including sushi, noodles, kids menu, bento boxes, fried rice and more. We ordered the California roll, shrimp fried rice and chicken bento boxes. We got in on the lunch special for the bento box! The food arrived extremely fast with the sushi coming out first. Then a few minutes later the fried rice. Everything was very fresh and delicious. The bento boxes are the real show stopper. Tons of hot and fresh food. The chicken was so tender and juicy and was drenched in a delicious teriyaki sauce, it also included gyoza, sushi, fried rice and veggies. I would 100% order it again. If you're in ETown I would highly recommend this spot!

What do you expect - some Shinto shrine with a Taiko drum show? Anyway, Amelia, our waitress, was kind and helpful. The food was tasty overall, especially the fried rice & seaweed salad. The yellowtail had been on ice too long & while still good, lost a bit of its proper tang when truly fresh. Again - it wasn't spoiled but sashimi demands that crisp, fresh snap when you bite into it. The canned soda thing ... not a fan. Perhaps it's a cost thing but at least don't show cases of soda in view & along the path to the john. The shrimp tempura & spicy tuna rolls were solid winners, & our guest had never had miso soup or real sushi until this meal. She's very happy, and so are we. Like I said, overall it was a good meal. But sushi joints need a staff that's crackerjacking & knowledgeable about this experience. Hardin County in general and ETown in particular are growing fast. Places like Wasabi need to rise to that challenge & train that staff to be on the nose about the menu & the sushi experience in particular. The owner spoke with us as we left. Very kind and gracious lady. We'll be back. The kids loved the food AND the fish tank!

My wife ordered a bento-style meal, thinking it would be simple, but it even came with nigiri, which she really enjoyed. I wasn't sure what sushi to order, so I asked for the chef's recommendation, and it turned out great. The variety of toppings was impressive (like in the photos I added into the review), and everything tasted fresh and delicious. Definitely a very satisfying meal. The interior has a clean, modern feel, and I think it would be a great spot for a date as well. Also, I accidentally knocked over my water cup and made quite a mess, but our server handled it very kindly and quickly without any issue. Really appreciated the service. The bartender, Jake, was phenomenal--friendly, attentive, and helped make it a great experience for my group and me. Because of that positive first impression, we decided to come back. Unfortunately, our second visit was a completely different experience. We were served by Lily at the bar, on Monday night, June 8, and from the moment we sat down, it felt like she did not want us there. She had an unfriendly attitude throughout our visit, and when we asked for our check, she slammed it down on the table. What made the experience even more uncomfortable was that our group, which consists entirely of minorities and Servicemembers, noticed that she appeared significantly more attentive and welcoming toward other customers who were Caucasian. While we cannot speak to her intentions, the difference in how we were treated compared to others around us was noticeable and left us feeling unwelcome. It was disappointing, especially after how much we enjoyed our first visit. One outstanding employee brought us back, but one negative interaction was enough to make us decide not to return. Thanks, Lily. Hope that management does something about this because she should not be allowed to work in customer service.
