When I come to KY I like to come here. I love their sushi but so badly wish they had kani salad! That would compliment the sushi so well! The service is quick and I love that you can watch the sushi chef prepare your order. I was not a fan of the calamari sticks. They were over cooked and it was obvious they were fried earlier in the day and then fried again upon order. It wasn't pleasant at all. The sushi however was deli, fresh and refreshing. The ingredients are fresh, and orders are packaged in styrofoam containers in reflection of the pandemic. There is no dining in, take out only but it works! read more

The sushi and service was great let's talk about my date with my girl Dahlia and sushi! Once again thanks to Yelp I found a stellar place with good food and and service!! We got there just as they were opening for dinner. Our waitress was really sweet and very informative and happy to answer any questions we had about the various sushi!! We at stated off with gyoza and the calamari!! Let me just say spicy mayo and eel sauce on calamari! Winning!!!! It was probably the best calamari I have ever had and I love calamari It was really delicious and having great service really puts this place over the edge. I'm giving this one star tonight. This is my favorite sushi restaurant in town. They make my favorite sushi. Always willing to have it ready to go. Now they have changed waitresses over the last 6 to 9 months. So when it is time to place a to go order they get attitude. I was on hold for over 30 minutes. And walked in. Still on hold. The lady got an attitude with me because I told her she needed to hang up the phone so other customers could call in. And told me that she refused to hang up the phone for others to be able to call in, and told me she would refuse to wait on me the next time I come asking her to do her job- I told her that she needed to hang up the phone so other people could make orders, and they could make more business. Apparently the owner decides that they need to leave the phone off the hook when they're busy the restaurant had three tables with customers at it. And two to go orders sitting behind the lady. Owner was standing behind the sushi counter now doing anything else. Food is great, but customers are NOT right when you go there. Go see for yourself if this is where you want to eat in town. Love that you get 4 pieces of California roll with the bento box, it is a great variety. They have the best Miso soup around, and I absolutely love their fried rice. However, now that more people are discovering this yummy little place, it is quite busy and understaffed. Having lived in Japan for six years, I have been blessed to have the opportunity to try authentic Japanese sushi and cuisine so coming here I was skeptical at first. However, trying a variety of the sushi rolls & fried rice that they have was extremely refreshing. The food here is absolutely great and the lunch service has constantly been amazing! You HAVE to try the E-Town or Louisville rolls! Although it's tucked out of the way from regular traffic this place will remain busy with excellent word-of-mouth advertising. I have gone 3x already since they have opened. This is my go-to place for local Sushi. The service is o.k., the menu options are good. This is not a teppanyaki (cook at your table) type of restaurant. This place is busy on week days. Hard to seat a group of more than 4, limited seating. Usually can get in and out within an hour. Have a great lunch menu. Bento A is a platter that has many appetizers and fried rice. You can choose from a meat and steamed or fried rice. Also, includes sushi. I opted for the bento A veggie with soup rather than salad. Amazing wait staff but something was very wrong with my sushi. The rice was either stale or overworked into that hard gummy consistancy that is nigh impossible to chew. The roll kept falling apart, even though it was a simple alaska roll. Bland and the fake crab even tasted.. off. Not my first sushi by far, I make my own sometimes and I've had better pre-boxed from a grocery store than what I ate at Sim. If you want quality sushi I recommend Ooshi Sushi or Hiko-A-Mon in Louisville. They're not that much further a drive for me. (And no, I'm not affilliated with either) Really wanted to like this place but it did not live up to the hype at all. Maybe it was an off day, maybe the quality has dropped, maybe they are ranked the best in etown because there really is no competition. I don't know. I hate leaving bad feedback but that really was some of the worse sushi I've had in a while. At least the wait staff was super friendly. read more

Nice its 7:30pm 12/13/21 the sign states they close at 9:00pm as well as Yelp. I walked in to be waited on and they told me they werent serving anyone else bc business was slow. There were two sets of customers eating. When i left another couple came inside and were turned away too. Now I know why business is slow. I wont be back! Thanks to our beautiful waitress, our Mother's Day dinner (celebrated early since I live out of town) was PERFECT! The place was clean and comfy, as stated earlier, our waitress was kind, friendly, and helpful. Our food was beautiful and tasted wonderful! We had the shrimp tempura; the house salad with ginger dressing and a seaweed salad; the VIP Roll; Lobster Roll; and the Cucumber Passion. ALL of it was delicious! Of the 3 Japanese restaurants in Elizabethtown, this is the best one. It's small and there is limited seating, so there's a wait on busy nights, but the wait isn't very long. They don't cook the food in front of you, so if you're looking for a show this isn't the place for you. We've always had great service, probably because we dine here frequently, but they seem very friendly and attentive to other diners. The appetizers and entrées are good, except for the yaki niku (bulgogi). If you want bulgogi, go to a Korean restaurant like Song's Buffet in Radcliff. The entrées come with a house salad with a creamy ginger dressing and a choice of soup (miso or clear broth). They have the typical nigiri sushi/sashimi menu as most other Japanese restaurants, except uni (sea urchin), which is disappointing. If you've never had uni, I highly recommend trying it. It's like a fresh oyster on steroids, with a creamy texture and a briny ocean taste. They have a good selection of sushi rolls and specialty sushi rolls, my daughters highly recommend the sexy girl roll. All in all a good dining option and the best Japanese in Elizabethtown. read more

So - other reviews give a good impression of the sushi at this informal, café-style restaurant. Rolls are relatively well made, certainly better than the grocery-store quality sushi available elsewhere in this area, but certainly not comparable to sushi available in anything other than central-bumble KY. (A tip for those a little overwhelmed by the sushi order form - there are descriptions of each of the rolls on the last two pages of the menu.) That said, I wanted to try out the "other stuff" - appetizers and entrees from their comparatively long menu. The results were fairly good, again, especially for Hardin County. The gyoza filling was tasty, as was the shumai; next time, though, I'm going to ask if they can steam the (otherwise pan-fried) gyoza, because the wrappers were really tough and not very appetizing. The (steamed) shumai were much better. Entrees come with soup (miso or house), salad, plain fried rice, a veg mix, and noodles. Seriously. That's *AND* not *OR*. All for between $12 - $20-something, depending selection. It is a huge amount of food, especially if you like to add a roll or appetizer to your meal. If you don't like leftovers, they also offer rice bowls with various proteins added. The house soup was absolutely amazing: one of the most flavorful yet delicate broths I've ever had. The salad was a typical Japa-rican salad nod to an iceberg mix, but the fabulous house ginger dressing made even a simple salad not to be missed. Both the soup and salad dressing are totally crave-worthy. Wide, flat noodles were tasty (and while I'm not going on record as saying they were house-made, they were, at least, soft, not boxed, dry), as was plain fried rice, which had a great texture. Veggies were a steamed carrot / broccoli mix: fine, and fresh. As far as the proteins (including the (Ton)Katsu), I've had the steak, chicken, shrimp, and pork, all were well-cooked, minimally seasoned quality meat, fish, and poultry. Be prepared: otherwise larger meats are precut into bite-sizes before cooking, the side benefit is each piece is carefully cut to minimize cartilage or other gristle, though it can be a little unexpected. Without the soup or ginger dressing, my rating of Sim would hover around 3.5 stars, but these two standouts will definitely bring me back! Can't wait to try their bulgogi next time. Servers are trying, but are fairly inexperienced and somewhat awkward (excepting the sushi dude working behind the sushi bar); frankly, the café layout & small, but multipurpose space does them no favors (though it certainly is stylish & pleasant). The cafe-style space just translates more as a good place to get a couple of sushi rolls or grab carryout (as tons of customers do!), not a place to drop over 60$ on a fabulous meal (w/o sake or any other alcohol) for 2. No wine or beer on Sundays. One last thing: do watch out for cooked items, as some are served hotter (temperature-wise) than molten lava. Mama is all for serving hot food hot, but yikes. read more
