Second time around, she had chipped her tooth and was in severe pain. we did not had appointment, yet they were able to find time for us and get the extraction done. I took my daughter to another dentist to have her teeth cleaned. The dentist talked about how she really needed her bottom retainer removed. We decided to go ahead and let them remove it. After they were done my daughter had deep grooves drilled into 3 of her teeth. Instead of apologizing for destroying 3 teeth in a mouth with no fillings, they said she needed to come back for fillings. We were so horrified we just left. I had been to Shoker dental before and was happy, so I decided to call them even though it was Friday. They called me back first thing Saturday morning and got her right in. My daughter was still visibly shaken and not excited about going to a dentist again and so soon. Dr Shoker Jr was so amazing. He bonded the teeth instead of drilling more and filling them. When we left you couldn't even tell there had been holes a few minutes before. Of course there will be maintenance but to get them fixed less than 24 hours after having it happen was comforting. My first experience when I came in was on Thursday 1/10/13; the receptionist Preety is very polite and the atmosphere is very welcoming. When I seen Dr. Shoker, for the first time, I couldn't stop smiling because this place feels like home, I got along with everyone. Dr. Shoker & I relationship as a client has definitely made my dental experience so much better. I haven't been to a dentist since 2005 so I am blessed that my parents found this location in Milpitas, CA. Now, I have referred my younger brother & more people will be coming as well. I called in and told them I need a checkup. They scheduled me. I came in at the Fremont location and was waiting there. There was one person ahead of me, the lady at desk (older in like late 30s to mid 40s, short, long black hair, with like a single metal line braces on her teeth) didn't talk to her till she got her attention. After she finished with her. I was still standing there and she was just shoving papers. I finally interrupted her and told her I have an appointment. She gave me a paper to fill. It said it needs my social security number. I told her I won't be providing this, insurance companies gives everyone IDs to use, as who on earth is comfortable giving out social security to privately run businesses? I told her I won't give my social security and will give my ID, she lied to me and said "oh that never works". I told her ok then treat me as cash patient, I was told over the phone the first checkup is free. She insisted on me writing down my social security number. I told her if you insist on it I'm going to have to walk out. She's like ok go..... Ridiculous. I didn't even get past the front desk. Why on earth do they want my social security so bad? Insurance companies recommends never give out SSN and they give you an ID. read more

THE WORST dentist ever. I'm writing on behalf of my mother who has had several infections after visiting this doctor for appointments. She was told she needs fillings and a crown, two days they told her she needs a root canal, then couple days later they said she got an infection. NOW they were saying she never needed a root canal in the first place! WORST PLACE, do not go here!! There is no communication between the doctor and the assistance. I know he doesn't take money from out of our pocket, it's from the insurance, but I wouldn't risk my health to save money. read more

I have been going here for years, but recently stopped. There are so many issues with this place. I never trust what the dentists say. Last time I was there, Dr. Shoker was determined to fill in a cavity that he said needed to be fixed. My fiance who is a dental student kept arguing with him about how he thought that the "spot" on my xray was a cavity. Finally Dr. Shoker admitted that he was not even sure. So thanks for trying to drill into my completely healthy tooth when you are not "sure" the cavity even exits. The time before that, he was so rough on my mouth that I could not chew on my right side for months and he told me it's because I have TMJ problems. The time before that, he actually tried to fill 3 cavities. One he drilled but forgot to fill in (so I had to drive back AGAIN and wait through the ridiculous waiting times in the office) and the other filling just fell out after I was chewing an apple. The only reason I went to him was because I have shitty insurance. Now I'd rather just pay out of pocket but not have to deal with the unprofessional, cranky, and mediocre work quality of the doctors in this office. Also--they treat you like you are dumb. They are not friendly and you are treated like an obligation and not like a patient. Extremely unprofessional. The receptionist who worked at the front desk always dressed like she was going to a night club and didn't hesitate to make it know she was flirting with every male doctor who worked there. read more

I didn't go anymore to Dr. Shoker for about 7 years because of bad experience. In the past from age 10-18 my dad took me on and off to Dr. Shoker. I remember it was not really good, always kept you waiting for long time since his building was bigger and there would be a lot of people. I remember when they worked on my teeth and did cleanings, it was very uncomfortable and hurt a lot. Dr. Shoker or his staff didn't offer any helpful advice to prevent tooth damage, during time my dad took us to Dr. Shoker, They put silver fillings in all my molars, not sure if it was really necessary for all my back teethes, I end up losing 3 teethes and got one crown before i was 18 because of this dentist. Also my mom went in 2013 after not going to his office for a long, she paid around $1000 cash from savings and they didn't fix the teethes she wanted fixed but they even messed up another teeth that was fine prior to the visit, they did unfinished fillings or root canel which caused her more tooth ache. After they moved to the current newer building about 8-9 years ago, they did sneaky ways getting more money and giving advice to do more cosmetic stuff to teeth which costs too much for us to afford. Not good place for taking kids either because of my experience. They do things that ends up making the teeth look bad so when you get older, he tells you to do the cosmetic stuff so they can get more money out of your pocket. They are shady. My dad is dumb and he still likes going to Dr. Shoker. read more

If there is a zero star rating, I would give that to this place. The staff is so unprofessional and rude. They never keep up their appointments. Their waiting times on an average is about 1.5 hours. So if you have absolutely nothing to do and want to waste your time, then go for it. Their rooms lack privacy. Their services are not that great either. read more

I had severe pain on my lower right jaw,went to a dentist and he told me that my wisdom tooth is not coming out straight and need extraction which can be done only by oral surgeon. Also the tooth next to it had a big cavity which needed root canal.Even though i have dental insurance, still my estimated bill was very high and also was not getting appointment soon enough. A friend of mine referred me to Dr. Shoker's office and I am glad I went there. The very next day my appointment was fixed with the oral surgeon for my wisdom tooth and Dr. Shoker also started the root canal. My pain was relieved. After a week he finished my root canal. I did'nt have to pay anything out of pocket. I am very happy with this office,they are very acomodating. read more

Had a root canal done 1/19/13. Was not fun of course but was quick and well explained. Came back for my crown on Saturday quick and efficient. Price was wonderful $1000 cash for everything. Quoted $90 for additional fillings at later date. Two offices, lots of hours available, quick, good work and great prices. Winner in my book. Dental works not fun so don't expect it to be ( for the silly adult children). read more

Dr shoker is a one of a kind dentist. He goes out of his way to help each patient. He always has a positive attitude and smile all the time.My whole family goes to dr shoker for about 10 years.He and his staff are always friendly and remember who you are.Dr shoker truly cares about your teeth.He will actullay take the time,show you and explain everything and what need to be done. This is my second review for Shoker Dental office since I noticed that my first review has been filtered for some reason. I feel this is very unfair to filter someone's review. I am his patient for almost over 8-9 years. I had gone to several dentists before and result was awful. I was shy of laughing because of my bad dental work. I love laughing now and get so many complements for my beautiful smile( seems little high headed but true ;). Dr. Shoker has proved repeatedly that he is one of the best dentists in bay area. Mostly all of the services are under one roof; cost effective, caring, expert professionals, great consultation and friendly environment are few of the features of this dental office. Dr. Shoker is doing a great service to society. Not only he accommodates his patients with low financial affordability but he charges very reasonably from all of his patients. I went to Dr. Shoker's office around ten years ago because of problems with my bite after crown work from another dentist. They were able to fix that and I have gone for fillings, crowns and a root canal. The dentists have done a really good job with my teeth which had many crowns when I went to Shoker's office and I have always needed my bite to fit just right. The price for crowns and root canals are almost a third of other dentists I have seen, maybe because of lower property taxes in Milpitas. Whatever the reason for lower costs, the dentists and dental assistants are better than any I have gone to before. Also, they are the only dentists I've found who take Medi-Cal. I would definitely recommend this dentist office to anyone looking for good dentists that are also affordable. read more

For example, when I got my crown, he took the time to explain to me the details using a 3D model. I've tried a few other dentists and have found him to be the best. I went to see this "doctor", who was recommended to me by a friend. I needed 4 fillings on 4 very bad teeth, each one having a root canal done several years ago. The teeth were afflicted by a serious gum disease (the gum had retracted significantly, leaving most of the teeth exposed). His highness the doctor didn't look into my mouth; he just looked at the X-rays which cost about $500 altogether (for what?). I told him what I wanted, but this arrogant crook, told me that all my ideas were incorrect, and that he would put a crown on those miserable teeth. At that point I should have left, but these people know that once you are in their chair and you already owe them hundreds of dollars you cannot go to another dentist and start all over. As a matter of fact, the X-rays had been superfluous, for the treatment that I requested and which did not deserve or medically require those ultra-expensive X-rays. Eventually, one of the young Indian doctors who work with him did the fillings which were pretty minor. For that "treatment", literal and figurative, I was charged over $1,200. This was the worst "treatment" by a dentist in my entire life. read more

Been going here since I moved into the area. The receptionists are always nice, the dentists are competent, and most importantly, they work with you to make sure the work is a price you can pay. One thing I think is great, is that Dr. Shoker sees all new patients that come in while he is working. I have no problem with referring my friends because I know that they aren't just going to be seen by some dentist straight out of dental school, but someone that I already trust with my teeth. Another thing I enjoy is that I don't need to travel to other offices for special treatments. They have a gum specialist and orthodontist that come every so often, so I don't have to go somewhere else if I needed braces or need gum surgery. Finally, the office is beautiful, there is marble flooring throughout the office, and it's filled with bright colors. It's definitely makes going to dentists easier when it looks so nice. read more

I went to Doctor Shoker because of a minor infection in root canal for a tooth that already had a root canal. Dr Shoker told me that its minor treatment and insurance will cover it. He started the treatment and after the treatment told that tooth is cut too much and there is not enough tooth left to put crown on it and it needs tooth lengthening and asked for $150(not sure about the amount exactly) down payment right away,. I had no choice because tooth was already cut. then the tooth lengthening was done(cutting gums above tooth). The tooth had infection again after a couple of months and when I called him he told that we will do the same procedure again. I contacted "Mission endodontist" and they told that there is no need of cutting tooth/gums and with new technology they can remove infection by making minor hole in gum. I got it done from "Mission endodontist" and its fine for last 4 years now. I wish I had gone to mission endodontist in first place so that my gum was not cut at all. read more

Wow, what a experience. First time in 23 years of dental office visits, I found a dentist I can feel safe with working on me. After going in for pain in my front two teeth, which my old Dr said I need to extract because there is no way to save it and after the extraction I would need two implants at about 3000 dollars each. Two much for me. iwas recommended to Dr. Shoker by my cousin. My first visit Dr. Shoker introduced himself and his assistant that took my x rays very pleasantly. After viewing the x rays Dr. Shoker said I can save both teeth and don't need any sort of extraction or very expensive implants. Dr. Shoker explained only one root canal would save both teeth because the infection is in one tooth only. So going from paying for two extractions of my top front teeth and paying for implants, with Dr. Shoker I payed for one root canal one crown which was all covered in my insurance limit. And best of all because I brought a friend who needed a cleaning and one filling, Dr. Shoker did my cleaning free of charge and I was so happy that I have passed his card to many of my colleagues and family mates. I feel like the nightmare of bad dentists ended here for me so I recommend you and your mates come try this office and team and get the best of possible results as myself. Tasha read more
