My husband and I were going here for 8 years, throughout our 20s and early 30s, but had to move away recently. We actually loved coming here for our regular dental cleanings and x-rays, which were every 6 months. Dr. Thai and his team were always respectful, efficient at what they do, and informative. I would give them 5 stars for that. My husband would get his occasional cavity, but that always got resolved here. But, I always felt off about how fast Dr. Thai's cleanings were... After moving away recently, our current dentist stated that my husband's periodontal disease (which Dr. Thai never stated it like that, he would minimize it by just calling it "gum recession") is the same level of loss people have when they are age 50-60+ and required deep cleaning, or in specific dental terms, scaling and root planing. This process requires local anesthesia and is way more in depth, which Dr. Thai has NEVER done for my husband previously. He has only done basic cleanings. Comparing the x-rays from the past 2 years, it has gotten worse. Dr. Thai has never oriented it that way. He never referred my husband either, for example if he couldn't do the deep cleanings. If he had done the deep cleanings, apparently it could have slowed the progression of this periodontal disease. I have a brother in his 3rd year of dental school, and he confirmed all of this too. In the end, it seems like Dr. Thai prioritizes speed and volume to maximize the amount of daily patients he can take. I understand that, in the Bay Area, it is tough to turn a profit in such a business. But this is at the risk of patient's long term health! Whoever is reading this, please make sure you get a secondary opinion regarding the care you receive. And please don't be naive like us. read more

Dr. Nguyen submitted false claims, exploiting both me, the patient and the system for financial gain. After abruptly withdrawing care, Dr. Nguyen refused to answer my questions and caused harm during treatment. Fortunately, my primary dentist stepped in to provide proper care and help verify the misconduct. Despite not receiving the services billed, I was charged for procedures that were never rendered--an act my insurance provider confirmed. This represents a clear breach of trust and professional ethics, with Dr. Nguyen knowingly submitting false claims for personal gain. Despite repeated requests, I have yet to receive any documentation or patient records from the office. In addition to the fraudulent billing and abrupt withdrawal of care, Dr. Nguyen's passive-aggressive behavior caused me significant fear, panic and emotional distress. I haven't been to the dentist for awhile and this place was recommended to me by my boyfriend's mom. I came in one day to make an appointment and luckily I was able to get an appointment on the same day, within an hour actually. If you're looking for a place to get your teeth done that is up to date with the technology and has a clean facility, this is the place to go. The doctor is very informative and will answer any concerns or questions you may have. You are able to see the x-ray image of your teeth with an LCD screen right in front of you, which I thought was pretty cool. Everything was covered by my insurance, so I only had to pay the deductible which was $50. read more

May 2010 addendum: Another STAR! So I went back for my teeth cleaning. Well, found out that I needed a deep cleaning, which I had to pay extra since my insurance doesn't cover the antibiotics. Because of my work schedule I couldn't take a weekday appointment without taking time off. So the staff a Radiant Dental worked really hard to squeeze me in on a Saturday. Now, mind you, Dr Nguyen only take short appointment on Sat. When he found out that I needed a deep cleaning he went ahead and did it anyway. I think he even had to stay late to finish it and for that I'm greatly appreciative!!!! Hence one more STAR PS: Still didn't get my free toothbrush baggy :( read more

I agree with Naomi. I walked into Dr. Thai's office after having lunch next door and was able to speak with him and his assistant. They assessed my needs quickly and arranged for my next appointment. Dr. Thai was gentle & thorough with the treatment. He was easy to talk to. My only request with the office is to talk about finances (get detailed breakdown from my insurance to see what's covered) before treatment started. However, I received excellent care and did not walk away feeling fooled about payments (admin explained everything afterwards). And I would know, I come from a fam of retired dentists. Also, they recommended me to an orthodontist whom I've yet to visit. Just like the reception area, the clinic is very clean, bright, and a pleasure to visit. read more

After moving back to Cali from the Midwest, I never thought I'd find another dentist who my daughter would feel comfortable seeing. Well, today we hit the jackpot. Dr Nguyen's office is almost like a hole in the wall, except it's a dental clinic. I think the clinic runs from word of mouth because there are a ton of dentists in the Bay Area. I was told he is really good at explaining procedures (+performing them) and especially great with kids. My daughter is a bit of a scaredy cat so we decided not to gamble trying to find other dentists. When we got there, the wait time was about 10 min, not bad compared to larger clinics with multiple dentists who make you wait up to 30 min! The office was really clean, paperwork straight forward, and the receptionist explained what my dental insurance would cover. She even helped me schedule a follow up appt 6 mo in advance. As my husband and I waited for our daughter in the reception room, we were a bit nervous as it is her first time there. However, when she opened the door and stepped out, she was alllll smiles. She mentioned that her teeth felt really clean, and that the dental hygienist and dentist were both gentle but thorough with her teeth. As a parent, I'm just relieved she's able to receive the level of care we had with our last dental provider. Dr Nguyen is also a personable guy, he came out to greet my husband and I a few times--first to explain the dental plan for our kid and then just to ask us how we are. Terrible, horrific and horrendous customer service from the office personnel, Nguyen, on the telephone. Speaking with her major attitude was like doing her a favor. Fortunately, I have come to terms to not go to this dental office, and thus, not having to deal with her any further. Unfortunately, I did not get to meet Dr. Nguyen, the dentist. Having had spoken with my husband and family about this lady's poor and belittling service, we have decided to not go to the dentist and office, DDS Radiant Dental. Since Feb 2012, I have been going to Dr.Nguyen for my regular clean up every 6 months. In 2013, while I was returning from vacation, I had really bad tooth infection with severe pain and my half of the face was swollen very badly. Appointment was scheduled immediately. Gave prescription to 1st reduce the swelling and pain. Examined what the problem was. Recommended Root Canal from Micah Oller, DMD. Performed restoration by filling. I thought I might need crown and have to pay out of pocket expenses. But he confirmed that, filling was much enough. Never scare you or force you to get certain treatment unnecessarily.. Dr. Nguyen is a very good dentist. I came here for a cleaning & he suggested I get a few of my old silver fillings changed. The other dentist I've been to would push for me to get a lot of things done only because I assume they wanted the $$ from my insurance, but a lot of the improvements Dr. Nguyen would suggest, was just that, suggestions. I was born with 8 congenial missing teeth, very small teeth, an over bite, and a gap between my two front teeth. I've always had a fear of dentist (and I'm 32 years old!) Dr. Nguyen was recommended and I reached out to him explaining my fears and he told me not to worry. I went in, and he was right. He was so gentle, he would tell me every step he would take, and he always checked in with me. Any time I winced (not out of pain but fear) he would talk to me through it. I found Dr. Nguyen on the Internet. I made an appt. & went to see him. The receptionist was semi friendly like someone was forcing her. I went in & met the dental hygienist & pretty much more of the same. then I met Dr. Nguyen & he was very unfriendly & short. I came back few days later for my procedure & he came in, did not greet me, just sat down & said lets begin. I was not made to feel comfortable because I was nervous, & ended up with the worst experience of my life (pulled tooth). when it was over all he said was your done & told me after my next deep cleaning he would no longer be taking my kind of insurance, then turned around & walked out. I had a horrible experience at Evergreen Dentists. The doctors there told me that I have to get a root canal for my toothache. They were so rude and horrible after the 3rd visits. So my friend referred me to Dr. Thai Nguyen to get a second opinion before I do any procedure. I called the office and double check if there is any fees for the consultation appointment. They said it is free if I have the x-ray of the problem toothache. It was so hard to request the x-ray from Evergreen Dentists, they were trying to give me a hard time and charge me. So I had the receptionist at Dr. Thai Nguyen's office called over and request that specific x-ray. So I got the x-ray and brought it to my appointment at Radiant Dental. The staff at Radiant Dental were really nice and help, although there were only 2 but they were super friendly. Dr. Thai Nguyen wasn't going to do an exam for me but because the x-ray provided were too small. So he took an x-ray and did a quick exam for me. He conclude that I don't need a root canal according to the pain I've been having. He said it is because of my decayed wisdom tooth that is referring pain to the bottom lower jaw. So he recommended to remove the wisdom tooth right away. He had a patient at the same time, so I waited for about 15 minutes. He called me in to start the anesthetic procedure. After waiting for my mouth to be numb, he started the extraction procedure right away, and it only took him 10-12 minutes for the extraction. According to him, my wisdom tooth was decaying and it was far back. It was difficult one and he was able to do it in a quickness painless too. He didn't have to put me to sleep. So he over the post-extraction procedures. That time I felt so drowsy but happy at the same time that I finally got this over with, it has been going on for 3 weeks now. I highly recommended Dr. Thai Nguyen! He is a great dentist and knows his materials very well! DO NOT EVER GO TO EVERGREEN DENTISTS! read more

I've been to Dr. Nguyen 3 times now and every time was a quick and easy appt. He is straight and to the point and does a good job. He never once tried to sell me anything I didn't need and never tried to get me to do any procedure I didn't need like other dentists have in the past. What's best is that I never experienced any pain with him and his assistant with cleanings and filling replacements. As a comparison, my spouse just went to an in-network dentist on the same plan as me in San Jose (Perfect Smile Dental) and they were super nice to him and their office is new and fancy, but they ended up charging almost $1000 for a cleaning (with plaque removal) for approx an hour long appt and charged him $40 for 2 bottles of flouride mouthwash which he didn't ask for and had no idea that they were charging him for. After insurance, he ended up paying about $200 for a cleaning (yes, just a cleaning). I paid $0 at Dr. Nyugen because it was 100% covered. A deep cleaning should not cost as much as an MRI! read more

I couldn't agree with Martha more. I was dreading for the past 6 months since my last dentist of 13 years retired. But wow, it felt like nobody has ever paid as much attention to my teeth before as Dr Thai. Very thorough, super gentle, quite patient, friendly, etc... He'd never let your lips/mouth go so dry it starts cracking. Minor, subtle detail but it makes a difference! Last but not least, his recommendations are really for the patient's benefits and for long-term, NOT at all to do more work on you. In addition, the assistant and the receptionist are also very pleasant and professional. Never chaotic like some other dental/doctor offices. When my friend referred me to Dr. Thai Nguyen's office, I was on a doubt to visit a Vietnamese Dentist's office. However, Dr. Thai Nguyen proved my doubt was incorrect. My first impression when I walked into Radiant Dental office: the office is clean, full new equipments, and friendly staffs. Dr Thai appeared to me as a very professional care giver. He is really caring and he doesn't try to get your money from your dental insurance as most dental offices do. He does not ask for co-pay while takes care of my teeth very well! When I did a filing, I broke it accidentally. I came back to the office but Dr. Thai did not charge me extra. Most important, he is willing to work with me on schedule to make sure that my teeth concern is taken as soon as possible. I am happy with the service provided from with Dr. Thai and his staffs.
