When grieving the loss of a loved one, the last thing you want to do is chase down a company for a simple inscription on a tombstone. I first reached out to Robin Cohen in July 2024, and as of February 28, 2025, the inscription still hasn't been completed. Robin has provided countless excuses for the delay, including incomplete paperwork, payment issues for the permit, blaming the cemetery operations manager, and most notably, weather. The constant claim is that work can't be done if the temperature is under 32 degrees. However, I've seen numerous reviews mention weather delays, yet I can't understand why, within a full year, there hasn't been one day with suitable weather to finish the work. The lack of communication and follow-through is appalling. Robin continually promises to schedule the work and send a picture, yet neither happens. Each time I follow up, I'm told it will be scheduled, but nothing ever materializes. I never get the promised updates or even an apology for the delays. It's disrespectful to grieving families who just want to properly commemorate their loved ones without constant frustration. This entire experience has lacked the professionalism, compassion and respect that should be expected, especially during such a sensitive time. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere . I selected 1 star as no stars is not an option.

Everyone we worked with, Bruce, Pat, Jimmy, Mike, and others who I didn't get the names of, were extremely sympathetic throughout and we never felt pressured by them; they made sure the process was easy for us and that everything went smoothly during this difficult time. Communication was great and they always made us feel like we were priority even though they were working with multiple parties--I know they value each client and their service is phenomenal for everyone who chooses them. There's plenty of parking, clean restrooms, and just a comforting environment. My aunt who had attended funerals held by another funeral home who share the same space as Aievoli commented that this was by far a better experience. Of course the driver denied it. The worst was desecrating my father's body. She used a person unfamiliar with working with clients of color. She tried to light me into thinking it was the church lighting. Black people know what we look like in church with makeup! We ended closing the coffin early because he looks so unrecognizable. She's used person of European descent who was older, he did not provide a haircut and gave his mustache a 70s cowboy look even though we provided a picture. Sylvia had a picture of my dad post cosmetics to "prove" the quality. I of course declined. Who wants to see their father with skin glue on his lips and eyelids. Blotchy make up. No caps underneath the eyelids so he appeared to be squinting. It was a horrible experience. She states the funeral home works with a Haitian community, but that was obviously wrong . As a healthcare provider I am aware that the deceased don't resemble themselves but family and friends didn't know who that was lying in state. This is not my first funeral but this was by far the worst. She will make all sorts of excuses and offer no apology. The experience made me lean towards cremation, no viewing,no funeral home for my own final affairs.

It was Moms request that she be covered in a blanket. Before she was taken to the cemetery I took the blanket and placed it over her top half. As I tried to open the bottom of the casket I was stopped by one of the parties who work there. I insisted on opening the bottom half in honor of my mother's request. He continued to dissuade me. I was insistent and he relented. When the bottom of the casket was opened I was horrified to see my Mother's stockings pulled only half way to her calf. I was completely overwhelmed and distraught by the treatment Marine Park Funeral Home displayed toward my Mother. I believe it was because our funds were limited. I left shaking but said nothing rather than cause a scene. Never ever would I use Marine Park Funeral Home.

I called numerous cemeteries, and many were abrupt in telling me that they did not have this specific person buried at their facility. I called Washington Cemetery in Brooklyn and they spent ample time trying to help me. After a relatively lengthy conversation, the manager took the call asked me a few questions and stated that someone would get back to me. Truthfully, I wasn't expecting a call back so soon let alone at all. Within about an hour I received a call back with the news I was hoping for, my loved one was buried in their cemetery. They provided me with the area she was in, date of burial, and the correct spelling of her name. They couldn't find it at first because I didn't have correct spelling. I explained I was out of state and they offered to mail me a map so that I could have it for the trip I am planning at the end of the summer. They really took their time to help me and were very kind and pleasant to deal with. I even mentioned that when I visit I would stop by the office to thank them personally and they said they look forward in meeting me. I didn't expect such service from a cemetery; I was very pleased.
