I just came home from a wake from this place. There was an older woman there who's name is MARY who was EXTREMELY RUDE! She was very unprofessional and it took everything in my power not to yell from the top of my lungs and tell her off. Well known funeral home that has held generations of my wife's families wakes. Staff is very helpful and compassionate. Parking is a mess. Valet but it fills up very quickly. There is no elevator but they have a handicap lift you can use. It's locked from the outside so you need to go in to let them know you will be using it. It's clean and they have numerous rooms. I was referred to Cusimano & Russo by a close friend when my father passed away the day before Thanksgiving. It was late in the evening, and we were told by his nursing home he had to be taken out immediately, not even taking the holiday into consideration. Despite the late hour, Michael Rizzotto and his team immediately sprung into action. Mr. Rizzotto conveyed tremendous empathy, warmth and patience from the very first phone call. I was understandably upset, but he calmly walked me through every step of the extremely difficult process. Unfortunately we were not in a place to have an in-person service due to the pandemic, but if you are in need when things go back to "normal", the facility itself is lovely (and there's a parking lot!). Despite all of this, the team conveyed warmth and humanity in every part of the process, and I am extremely grateful to them. I'd recommend them to anyone in a similar need. read more

During an historically unprecedented global disaster, Michael Rizzotto, the Funeral Director of Cusimano & Russo Funeral Home, came to the aid of my family when my sister Paula Foster passed away this week, after a long illness. Family members from Florida and California braved the "war zone"-type atmosphere of NYC, to be near my sister while she transitioned. Because we are/were unable to have a funeral, and the logistic(s) nightmare during this global crisis, Michael comforted my family in a gentle, calm, compassionate manner; responded very quickly to all phone calls and queries; efficiently and professionally took care of all the nitty-gritty details; and respectfully took care in getting our sister Paula's earthly remains, so that at a later time, we will be able to honor her with a memorial. Thank you so much to Mike for handling all aspects of my father's wake. My dad passed away suddenly at 62 years old 2 days before Thanksgiving and Mike really went above and beyond for my family and I. It was a tough time trying to get my dad buried where he wanted to be buried (with his brother in Pinelawn -military cemetery). We had to get a ton of paperwork together and get approval from the cemetery. Mike did not stop working those few days and even with Thanksgiving and people taking off for the holiday Mike got it done!! We are so thankful for Mike and his professionalism. I want to thank Michael and John, the Funeral Directors for Cusimano and Russo. I also want to thank Mary, the secretary. My brother in law passed away on July 6, and I immediately told my nephew that his dad(my brother in law) need not worry because Michael and John will take care of the Funeral and Wake for Joseph Salerno ( my brother in law). I know first hand the beautiful work that Michael and John does because my mom's Funeral and Wake were recently done this past March. When my nephew, myself and other family members got together with Michael on July 7 to make the Funeral arrangements, everything worked out smooth and efficient. Michael and John both reached out to me during the Wake to make sure everything was ok. Also on a side note news flash that is very important was the fact that the mortition did marvelous work to give you the impression that my brother in law Joseph was sleeping and at peace in the coffin. John told me that the woman who did the artistic mortition work is a real professional and I attest to that. John also did beautiful work as well with the mortition. I can absolutely say that my mom's artistic mortition work was also beautiful and my mom looked like herself in a peaceful sleep in the coffin. Funerals are so important in giving the family members and friends a dignified send off into Heaven and Eternity. This is by far the best funeral home I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. I first saw Michael and his Pall Bearers in action at St. Simon and Jude and I was sold by their professional and immaculate look that spoke volumes of how they respect what they do.
