Stopped in this morning for some necessities as I'm visiting from out of town. Visit started off just fine, found what I needed, but the demeanor of the staff seemed a bit off. The real kicker was as I was leaving. A customer in a scooter was just finishing a few registers down from me closer to the door as I was checking out. As the customer went to leave, the bagger, who was special needs went to follow the customer with his cart to assist him. The woman working the register loudly and meanly yelled at the bagger asked what he was doing. He responded he was going to help the customer to his car. She again very loudly accosted the special needs man saying "he said he was going to pull his car around! Don't you listen to anything?!" I'm kicking myself for not saying something then and there because it was totally uncalled for. Who treats someone with special needs like that? And without a care in the world that customers could see and hear her? If she acts like that in front of customers, I can only imagine how she treats him when nobody is around. I truly love shopping here. It is great for weekly shopping or a quick in and out. It's not a huge as some of the new GE's but it's big enough to move around and find everything your looking for. Shop N Save in Wilkins Township on Business 22 is clean and well organized. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. I have never once had an issue with produce or fresh meats or fish. The bakery is good, I buy the buns & bread. The fish market isn't huge but I like the fresh fish. The deli counter is big enough with a large selection of deli meats and prepared foods. I love the cheese selections. I am not a huge lover of olives, but the olive counter looks so delicious. The rewards card is great. The gas perks or a free thanksgiving turkey. Give this grocery store a try you won't be disappointed. read more

As an Instacart shopper, I visit stores and their employees throughout the region on a daily basis. I have always found S&S employees to be super courteous - a manager lent me her wireless charger and a stocker stopped what he was doing to help me find an item. Today, a bagger greeted each person in line w/ an exuberant, "Hi! How are you?" It was genuine, friendly and didn't cost anything. I hope this tall gentleman is acknowledged! Shop N Save Wilkins Twp is a big, big grocery store that isn't trying to be anything else. You're in and out in no time at all. Here's a couple of reasons to love this store: They have everything you need and every brand you want. No, not highly specialized items - everyday items. The produce section is fabulous and they have a great selection of fresh greens. The deli is much better than Giant Eagle both in price and in selection as they carry the Kretschmar Brand, which is superior in quality and flavor AND price! Check out is always quick and efficient - they still employ baggers. And when it rains there are umbrella toting escorts to your car. How about that!?!? The bakery is not a strength, but this is Pittsburgh and if you cannot find a spectacular bakery you're just not looking very hard. SNS will get you there, in a pinch. The prices, overall, in this store are good. And you'll be outta there quick, quick, quick. That is something you're not gonna get a Giant Eagle. I really, really like the Wilkins Shop N Save! This place is fine if you just need a quick stop for a couple of things, but its just as expensive as Giant Eagle but with less options. It's not set up intuitively at all. Checkout lines are slooooow. Also, ever since winter hit, it has been FREEZING in there. The couple times I have stopped by after work to do a bigger grocery load instead of backtracking up route 8 to GE, I've had to wear my gloves while shopping. The employees here deserve better, they should not have to work in such crap conditions. read more

Shout out to the cashier in the only alcohol allowed line open in the store. She refused to scan my groceries because she was a "12 items or less lane". Nobody was waiting in her line. She wanted me to let her scan a 6 pack of beer-pay for it- then go allllll the way to the other lane that was open to complete my purchases. How about no. How about you do your job. read more

I called on a whim to see if they'd be able to make a custom cake for me with a week notice. They did a beautiful job! The cake was delicious, and the decorator was wonderful to work with. I'm going to be getting all my special occasion cakes from here. The price was reasonable and just as quality as a speciality bakery. read more

Helpful staff, good produce, and has pre-cut produce available for folks with disabilities who still want to be able to eat fresh fruit and veggies, even if they can't manipulate a knife or have the manual strength to peel an orange. Two years ago, my parents went shopping at your store in Monroeville and they were trying to buy a few gallons of water. There was a price discrepancy at the water refill station and they tried to discuss this with the staff. Your staff, took my Indian parent's water refills from their cart and proceeded to dump the water out in front of the store. You thought they didn't have anyone to speak up for them so the staff could manhandle and think they could do whatever they want. My parents felt helpless, hurt and felt judged by the color of their skin. Well, I am their daughter and I am a physician that worked for UPMC. I am terribly disappointed by how your racist staff in Monroeville treated and yelled at my parents. I have let other doctors and my colleagues know about this and to not shop at your store in Monroeville. It sickens me that this is how you treat your customers. read more

I am very disappointed that the coupon policy was changed and the only notification was a small sign at the check out. You are so busy unloading the groceries, watching the cashier and loading the groceries it is pretty hard to see the sign. I go to the same cashier, use lots of coupons and no one cold have told my on any of my frequent visits! Shop and Save can print thousands of add papers but not one abut their coupon change to only 3 internet coupons! I will very much limit my business at this place or eliminate it completely. This Shop N Save is one of my favorite grocery stores in the Pittsburgh area! It's not fancy, but outside of specialized items carried at specialty stores like Whole Foods, I can find everything that I need here. Plus, I love that a cashier can promptly help me vs. having to almost always use self checkout or wait in a 15 minute line at local Giant Eagles. Plus, they are open from 6am until 1am, so if you are cooking or baking early or late and forget that very important ingredient, they'll likely be open! read more

Since the new ownership this store a declined fast. The shelves are not properly stocked or rotated. EX:Picked up a bottle v-8 fusion and it was expired 6 months prior. The people in the hot food section a just plain RUDE! And the cashiers. Let me just say that I do not care about what you doing or who your doing or anything else about you life.They do not say hello or even ask for your perks card.Then when using coupons it seems I must look like a shady 50 something year old because they make a big production out of checking to make sure I am not pulling a fast one them. Today was the last straw, after ringing up my order then going through the coupon police crap ( the front end supervisor had to bring over the gold key to the crapper because I had a coupon for 5 dollars) got the total which was $450 plus change the cashier turned to the supervisor and asked her to wait a minute just to be sure my card would go through. REALLY? I shop there every 2 weeks and spend 250 to 300 dollars. I and old school I do what is known as a grocery order I am not there 3 and 4 times a week. Not only that just because I am not dressed to the hilt or wearing 50 pounds of gold does not mean I am poor. She had no place assuming that. It is pointless going to Management because they seem to not care. I had spoke to one last summer about the hot foods counter and this guy rolled his eyes so many times I could have smoked them. I used to go here every so often, but not anymore. For one, most things that aren't on sale they are slightly more expensive than Giant Eagle. The reason I won't go back is because the employees and managers are rude. I buy pop for my business, so I get a bunch when they have it on sale. I can buy a cart load of it at Giant Eagle, or at the Shop n Save in white oak, but not at this one. The first time I went there, the cashier told me I could only buy 8 packs. I said there was no limit on the sign. She was very rude to me, but I had her get the manager, and fortunately the manager let me buy the pop, but wouldn't let me use my card to get fuelperks. That was ok with me. A few months later I was in there, and I had my cart loaded up, and had just paid. A different manager than the first time comes flying over when he sees my cart and says I can't buy all that pop. I said I already did. He told me not to come back and buy pop there anymore. He says they can't let people buy all the pop they want because they don't make enough money on it when it's on sale. Well, if you're not making money, sell it for more money, or put a limit on the sign. Don't yell at your customer for buying stuff in your store. It's ridiculous. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE HAD IN A LONG TIME AT A GROCERY STORE.. I do not frequent this store on a regular basis due to the fact it is not in my neighborhood. Made a special trip to purchase coke products on sale for a party the next day. I found the employees non-engaged. They were standing around leaning on the magazine racks and when I did approach the check out line, no one asked could I help you and it was obvious none of the cashiers wanted to work and practically groaned when I chose a line to check out. The clincher was when I did check out and spent $107.00, I did not have my shop and save card so was directed to customer service to receive the coke product discount. In the past at the Shop n Save in Homestead, the store always had a "store card" they would scan and I would get the advertised discount(unfortunately that store has closed) the "customer service" representative looked me up in the system and since I had not used my Shop N Save card for awhile, they would not honor the $4.00 discount I would have received. So I was in the system, but my card was not honored since I had not used it in awhile and I was directed by the manager to fill out another card...even though I was already in the system??? I would recommend the owner of this store offer customer service classes to all employees and management because obviously the customer is not right at this establishment. What really irked me was that I spent $107.00 dollars at the store(the prices where higher than Giant Eagle) and it was very evident they could care less. I will NEVER shop at this Shop N Save again and know I would have been treated much better at Giant Eagle-which I will bring the SNS ads and receive the same discount in the future!!! Very arrogant attitude! I will make sure all my social contacts are aware of this event. read more
