I had a chance to run in here last month while my daughter was at ski lessons and what a treat! Books were on clearance for $1 that day! YES - $1 books! Came home with a giant bag filled with books to overfill our already filled bookshelves! But hey, since when could one have too many books? Once Upon a Child is HANDS DOWN the best consignment store chain for used children's clothing and accessories. I've frequented them in Edmonton for several years now and even visited one in Saskatoon! You can drop off your gently used clothing and toys to trade in for store credit if you'd like as well. They offer a frequent purchaser stamp card to earn discounts and usually have coupons in the SUTP coupon book. They are on facebook and have an e-mail list if you would like advance notice for upcoming sales and specials! They also carry new items like Melissa & Doug at prices below what you would find at Toys R Us. Once Upon A Child is most definitely a dream come true for frugal shoppers who know that a baby outfit may get worn once or not at all!

Now everyone and their dog likes nice-smelling things - candles, lotions, aromatherapy oils, soaps, lip balms, body scrubs, lip polishes - It's outta control! Every time I've walked by Bath & Body Works it looks like it's Boxing Day. This place is a mega warehouse for everything that smells, softens and soothes. It's pure sensory overload! The bottle of creams are stack on shelves, in cubbies, on tables and in glass cases like fine jewelry or clothing. It's almost comic that so many people are milling through the aisles trying to find the body cream that defines them. Is it key lime verbena or pina colada passion? Don't get me wrong. I love this stuff. But the quality of product here is a bit watered down. It's not as good as Body Shop or spa-quality products. But that isn't stopping people from shopping here in droves. They're going to give Body Shop a run for their money.

If you haven't, where have you been?? This store is usually jam-packed with people, but lately it seems it's even more so, if that's possible. BBW now has their new Christmas fragrances out, and prepackaged gift sets as well, so shoppers are probably racing to get their hands on those. The scent is quite heavy when you walk into the store. My boyfriend, who doesn't quite like fragrances, said it smelled like overdone curry. But don't worry, he thinks Chanel No. 5 is some classified document to protect the country from invasion or something. They have their classic scents like Lime Verbena and Warm Vanilla Sugar, as well as new ones like Twisted Peppermint and Black Amethyst. The bath and body products are at the front of the store, while makeup, skincare, haircare and home fragrances are located in back. The cash register is also all the way in back, which is a clever ploy to get you to walk through the whole store. They have some pretty good deals on right now too, like 3 antibacterial hand soaps for $12. I saw many empty shelves though; things go pretty quick here! And I'm not exaggerating when I say it was mayhem when I went. You would've thought it was already Christmas! I needed to fight my way through the crowds. Just remember to be cautious while having fun here. Lots of people use the spray testers liberally, so be careful you don't get accidentally sprayed!

From talking to the owner, this store is meant to give an idea of their style of design. I have to say I love it and definitely have it in mind for future gift giving occasions. Baby shower gifts, unique table setting items and even some cool branded yeg stuff (I totally brought a bag as a gift to make a friend in Mexico smile). Parking is along the ave or street and fairly easy to find that far down 124st. Also for those mobility limited, there are few steps into the shop.

I've…read morechatted with Pamela one of the workers in this area before and she is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. So yesterday I was asking her about skin care and she was super helpful. She's also very friendly. The ladies at the post office were friendly and I've interacted with them both before and they've always been happy and helpful. There was a long line but it moved pretty fast. This store is always clean and stocked and have wonderful staff.

The store doesn't have an exact closing date but it won't be very long. Currently seasonal items are 60-70% off (some seriously cute Xmas décor and ornaments) and the remainder of the store is 20-30% off. They have really cute jewellery and unique items for special gifts. I really like their line of moon necklaces/bracelets where you pick the phase of the moon on a special date (birth, death, wedding, etc.) and can wear it as jewellery. I also like their sparkly Swarovski crystal bracelets, earrings, and necklaces. Some stuff here for sure can be found elsewhere or online for less but that's not the point of a boutique store. It's getting to go somewhere and browse through various collections to find the perfect gift for someone special. If you're a fan of s'well bottles, they still have a fairly good collection of unique ones and at 20% off you're paying a fair price for the designer s'wells. (Note you can get plain jane ones at Costco for $30) but the ones here are GORGEOUS and make me smile. Well I just adore this store!…read more Often you walk into gift shops, and yes, everything is lovely but you just don't really see anything practical; or everything is really expensive, or really niche. But at the Prettiest Present they really have a great variety of really useful gifts! From presents for those pooch peeps, to culinary and kitchen gadgets - as well as neat necessities. Then there are the baby gifts, the seasonal decor for your own abode, a wall of tempting teas and some really unique jewelry. And then the pies de resistance... they have the most fabulous collection of gift bags, gift boxes and paper so that when you find that perfect present you can also wrap it up without having to go to another store! Love it!! Although, I do not remember seeing ribbon or cards, I could be wrong, or maybe that's just asking for the moon. Pro Tip: Make sure to go into the basement! Often you go into a store like this and assume that down the steps is just a small smattering of a few other things. But in this case the basement is the majority of the shop. I like shopping at Giant Tiger! Call me crazy, but I do!…read more Giant Tiger is just one of the stores I stop in each time I go shopping for produce because it's located right beside H&W. Giant Tiger is a discount stores that sells pretty much everything from clothing, house hold items, food, books and gifts. It's similar to a Zellers but on a much smaller scale. Granted. not everything is top of the line quality and you really have to look through their stock, but sometimes it's worth taking the time. I'm impressed with the kids clothing and accessories as they carry brand names that I currently use - kuddos in my books. Some of the mens and womens clothing is questionable, but it's not the place to buy your wardrobe basics but is a decent place to get the trendy things you know you'll wear for this season and want something new for the next. The household section has a good offering and college students - heads up - it's a good place to get your dorm room outfitted. They have decent bedroom sets and decor items. Their curtains is something that caught my eye as they are reasonably priced and are of reasonable quality. Let's face it, you'll want to redecorate you're area after 5 or so years and don't want to feel guilty for putting away the ultra-expensive curtains you bought. The food section is very small but if you forgot milk, cheese or the like you can pick it up here. The packaged and non-perishable foods are price well and worth stocking up on. They have a small area of toys, which of course is the first draw for kids. They have brand name items so I feel better looking through and buying here. Of course like any place you buy toys you need to really what quality and let's face it, large toy store sell crap too. Giant Tiger is a fun place to poke through and you may find some treasures to take home.

Exceptional customer service & variety!…read more I stopped by Karrie's Kostume & Supplies store on my way home from work tonight to check if they had my toddler's ballet clothing in stock - I was greeted by a professional and friendly young lady who quickly showed me the available options; I decided to come back later with my daughter to try the items in for size. .............................................................. 2 hours later: I returned to the store with my twirling and giggling toddler in tote. We were helped by Anne, who was exceptionally good with my daughter. My four year old has a hard time talking to strangers and will sometimes run away and hide when spoken to. Anne knew just how to charm my toddler and after trying on the approved leotard options for ballet class, my daughter insisted on showing "the nice lady," before making a final selection. My daughter discussed all her favorite Princesses and Halloween costume ideas for the coming year: LaLaLoopsy & Monster High, of course! Anne even asked my daughter if she would like to try on their LaLaLoopsy costume; to which my daughter lost her marbles and a costume show and Photoshoot immediately followed care of Mommy's iPhone. Anne even brought us upstairs (stairs are on the outside of the building) to the Costume floor where we marveled at the amazing Super Hero & Star Wars Costume selection! I just cannot get over the selection of dance, costumes for adults & kids, stage/costume makeup, wigs & more! Karrie's, you have made a fan out if me!
