Stopped in for the first time in awhile because I don't general get over that way and surprised they closed so early but whatever, covid changed things. The store was absolutely immaculate, big and spacious, great selection even found nice Gulf shrimp but that's where the problem was. Seafood is right next to the bakery and the fish smell was incredible. 30 ft away as I'm passing the cupcakes you get hit with that smell. Everyone is so helpful and friendly, very accommodating to handicap people such as myself, plenty of battery operated vehicles. So many reason to shop here: The cheese department has such a great variety. The display, location, and brands are vast as well as delicious! Yogurt is always fresh and superb as well. Profiling is conducted at ShopRite of Bethlehem On the night of July 13, 2023 my 78 year old Asian-born American wife was weeping, and I inquired why she was so unhappy. She explained that she was profiled (my word) as being a potential thief at the ShopRite of Bethlehem and her feelings were deeply hurt. Those of you who know her know that she would never do that. She says that she selected her items for purchase, entered her ShopRite card before checkout, and successfully paid with her credit card, all without problem. Before she could depart a ShopRite management woman approached her and requested to see her ID to compare it to her credit card. Once satisfied that her credit card matched her ID card, she allowed my wife to leave the checkout aisle. The male cashier had neither questions nor comments, nor did he respond to my wife's request for an explanation. The female management person that conducted the ID check offered no explanation. Neither of them offered any comforting words to my wife after it was clear that she was not a thief. They simply left her as a suspect in front of other customers watching from behind. We do not know what triggered the check. It may be that the cashier profiled her and contacted ShopRite management, and it may be that ShopRite management profiled her with a camera. The only thing that stands out in our minds as different relative to her and other customers is her age and her race. Maybe you can figure it out. This is not the first time that our family has encountered profiling. The difference this time is that the profiling occurred by management of an organization, not by some perverse individual reflecting personal insecurity with her presence. Sadly, we can no longer shop at this ShopRite of Bethlehem store. Incidentally, the ShopRite receipt states that the transaction occurred on July 13 at 4:51 p.m. I suspect the following represents the register and cashier on duty, and other information that ShopRite collects on sales: S443 R2 T13 C169. Just one notch above the scruffy WEIS markets which are atrocious! The customer service here is now non existent. I saw them egregiously dismiss a woman of color and then give a long time customer a hard time with a return. Luckily the Lehigh valley has a plethora of super markets galore!! Good ones like Wegmans and Whole Foods even Giant is somewhat ok. 1/10/20 they now have someone directing the lines of people waiting to use the self checkout machines. WTH is with the cold cut bags and labels. they use the huge labels to seal the bags, like somebody is going to be snarking slices out of the bag and putting the bag back somewhere. what actually happens is, as carefully as you try, you will either tear the bag when trying to remove the label, or the label will tear at the zipper level. for the latter, the zipper slide wil fall off and you need to put in your own zip lock. or if the label doesnt come off, it rips the bag and yes, into a zip lock. figure out something different - stop doing the label over the opening. only one who does this. This place is really great with plenty of parking. Very clean and spacious inside. They have a lot of different items that Giant and Wegmans may not have. The employees in the seafood department are really nice and helpful. They explained what days certain shipments are received like tuna, and told me I could call in ahead of time, and they'd cut whatever I needed. Can't get any better than that! Veggies have always been fresh and they also have a "to go" bar with warm food as well as sushi. They do not sell lottery tickets so please take note of that if you like to play. Organics are definitely cheaper than Wegmans and the quality is identical. They also have a bulk food area with dry fruits and nuts. Regular checkout as well as self checkout is available. It's worth going here to shop. There is also a Starbucks, Chipotle, Mods, a few other shops as well as a liquor store across the street. read more

It's okay for a quick trip and the location is convenient but parking can be difficult, the store itself is significantly pricier than Wegman's and the customer service is . The children's area is also a joke, either it's not staffed or they'll call you back from shopping 5 minutes later to say your child told them they didn't want to be there, and they don't play or interact with them. So it's a wonderful concept but not executed well, which is unfortunate because despite the higher prices and smaller selection, I would still shop here instead if that played out better. Overall, save yourself the $ and head to Giant or Wegman's. ****This review doesn't apply to the pharmacy, the pharmacist there is wonderful, and the drive-thru option for medicine is great if you have kids. read more

Fucking worst in providing social distancing!! They put people in aisles on line for register like cattle and make them wait for 30 + minutes before getting to register stuck near other people it may it may not be infected and worse than that people are shopping these same aisles so overcrowded conditioned being forced to be in which is the opposite of social distancing! The customer Service is totally inexperienced in resolving a pricing issue that costs me $11.96 dollars more for seltzer due to label/brand pricing issue. No reaction to resolve the problem. The fresh fish counter is not as pristine as it was months ago. Recently visited and bought fresh fish and I should have known better...the fish area had a strong fish odor... as did my "fresh" fish when I got home to cook it. Please clean up the area. I am disappointed with ShopRite. I am hoping they can add additional staff in the deli - at 9:30am There was only one person slicing at the deli - there were three people off to the side pre-cutting meat. I waited 15 minutes to be waited on, then I got frustrated and just left. This is the third time this has happened to me. read more

Typically I have a cake lady I use for all my cakes. Unfortunately for me she is no longer making cakes. So I had to find something quick. Well thank you shoprite bakery, you did an amazing job! I had so many compliments and inquiries on where I got the cake from. Inside was chocolate and yellow cake with strawberry glaze in between. Thanks again shoprite for coming through. I use ShopRite from Home on a regular basis and occasionally stop here for a regular grocery run (it's on my commute home). Pros: Great baby selection (one of the best pouch selections in the Valley!). Very friendly SFH staff and relatively accurate. I've had two issues and only complained once - and when I did, the manager took care of it right away when I called. I love that their pickup/delivery service isn't heavily surcharged - Peapod and Instacart charge fees plus upcharge on the groceries - SFH is only a flat $10 fee, which is often waived if you buy a large enough order. Sale prices are good. Prepared food section is nice. Not as huge as Wegmans so easier to get in and out. Cons: I can't always find my favorite brands - though they carry a lot of brands I'm not familiar with. Have picked up several expired items or almost expiring items. While sale prices are great, everyday prices are not so great (so I tend to stick to sales). read more

The checkout staff and seafood department staff are very helpful. When it first opened everything on the Asian Buffett and ready to eat deli items were good, but It has since gone downhill. The Asian buffet had really good walnut chicken for the first month or so, then they changed to dry thready chicken, then the started to add red and green peppers to it. Walnut chicken is supposed to be creamy and sweet and they went completely off the mark. They are letting the items burn or get dried out, so I don't get anything from there. Last Wednesday I purchased their "store made" macaroni salad from the case and it ended up in the garbage. It was runny, flavorless, the macaroni was not even cooked properly, and there was no way do doctor it up to fix it. The deli people are nice and will cut to order, but you can't order anything that is wrapped in plastic the same color as the meat because they don't pull it off and you end up with plastic in sliced lunch meat and if you ask to make sure the plastic is peeled off, you get a look from them. I can't help but feel their high prices are being helped along by the shop at home service. Touted as free with a large order, but is it really free when they have to staff employees to do that? I think those of us who actually shop are supporting the service, which is not fair. read more

Very nice design and easy to move through with farts. Very nice selection of hot items and general grocery items (do compare what you pay though, some items are much higher than elsewhere ). Great location. Good prices. One down fall, horrible customer service. Asked for double bagging was told " no its not that heavy" from bag girl Michelle. Cashier ( Devon) threw a bagged item at me stating " it's to heavy". I've been to several ShopRites in the New Jersey area all had great customer service , come to Pennsylvania and experience this, what a shame. Why can't the cold cut department make potato and macaroni salad without cream? You used to have salads without such a dangerous product such as cream which I and many people are allergic to dairy. Or make a pan without cream or milk. Mayonnaise is just eggs and oil. Eggs come from chickens and that's fine. read more

hey guys a interesting update for you on that last shop I did, I went to open a bag of cookies I bought on the same trip as I spoke of above and as soon as I opened it I new something was wrong. the smell was awful (these are cookies not meat or dairy I thought to myself). so I thought well let me just check the expiration date, who knows maybe these cookies are supposed to smell this way??? uh no lol long story short expired November of 2018!!!!! let see it's October of 2019, ALMOST A YEAR EXPIRED AND STILL ON THE SHELVES TO BE PURCHASED!!!! the people who run this store are disgusting at best and obviously not to bright either. I hope a few of them open up a year expired item and chow down on it and spend the next week in the bathroom and then maybe they will get it. Definitely not happy with the recent changes to your deli department. I enjoyed the wonderful items that were formerly displayed for purchase. Now most of those items are pre packaged and placed elsewhere in the store. In order to buy them one must accept what has been packed.
