Visited here twice while staying at a hotel nearby and visiting Philly for the first time. This store had everything I was looking for, esp. yummy pre-cut watermelon. Watermelon is always my go-to snack to have in my hotel room while I travel, and I really appreciated how fresh it was here compared to the Walmart next door (not to knock down Walmart). The employees are also super kind and well-mannered while ringing up my items. I also appreciated that they stay open until 11pm. read more

I have made several attempts to address this matter directly with the business, but those efforts have been completely ignored. I have reported this disgraceful sanitation problem to staff multiple times -- and each time, I was ignored. My concerns have clearly fallen on deaf ears. Unbeknownst, I found mold on your product. I purchased a product from this location that had mold inside. At first, I thought it might have been a manufacturing defect -- but after seeing the condition of these refrigerators, I now know better: This is ShopRite negligence, plain and simple. This is how the Collins family -- owners of not just this store, but three other ShopRite locations -- treat the very communities who keep their business alive. Deplorable Conditions Include: Visible mold, grime, and buildup in refrigeration vents and cold-air circulation grills. Black seals and trim covered in debris -- a clear sign of chronic neglect. Rust and staining around airflow areas. Food residue and debris stuck in the vent mesh and underneath units. Unclean surfaces in direct proximity to perishable, consumable goods. Why This Is a Serious Health Hazard: Mold and bacteria are easily airborne and can contaminate nearby foods. Plastic and metal can host mold if organic material (dust, grime) and moisture are present -- and that's clearly the case here. Mold exposure can cause respiratory issues, allergic reactions, and serious illness. Certain molds produce mycotoxins and aflatoxins -- dangerous substances that can make people extremely sick, or worse, DEATH. The store's neglect is absolutely in violation of health codes and contributing to unsafe food conditions. Personal Impact: During the time I continued shopping at this store, I became sick -- and after multiple rounds of antibiotics and medical screenings, I'm starting to question: "Was I unknowingly exposed to contaminated food or mold spores in your store?" Would give minus stars if possible...went back to seafood department to get some lobsters...on sale!! The clerk was busy putting away seafood salad...which was far more important than taking care of the customer...then "What you want"... like I was bothering him!! I would like 4 lobsters...then I was told "anything over 4 lbs was $11.99 not $9.99... ok The lobsters displayed in the tank were alive and looked good...unfortunately wasn't getting those...nope got the ones from the walk-in...sight unseen...when I asked why I didn't get them from the tank...I was told..."I got 4 cases in the walk-in" one was dead which when I brought them back to the counter, I was called a liar...and then the wonderful clerk was going to call security to walk me out of the store!!! Unshaven- rather disgusting looking kind wonder why I even ordered them in the first place!!! I will NEVER AGAIN shop at this store...you shouldn't either!! I shop at ShopRite in Eddystone Pa. There is a gentleman that works for your company which is a manager and he has helped me out quite a few times it seems like every time I am in there he is running back and forth with the cashiers and helping customers. Not that long ago I was not to pleased with the store and all of a sudden I was having a problem and this young man was right there helping the cashier out and every time I am in there Raul always has a smile on his face and asks if there is anything he can do to help me out. He also says hope you come back. I am not the type of person that writes reviews but I felt like this man should at least get the acknowledgement he deserves. read more

So, I don't have any Shoprites withing a mile of where I live, but I have 2 within 5 miles. I like going to this Shoprite better than the other one. Everyone I encountered were so helpful and so nice. The meat department approached me and asked if everything was ok (I looked confused and couldn't find the family sized pork chops), the pharmacy lady recommended a different brand that was covered under my insurance instead of making me pay out of pocket, and the cashier was just amazing. The cashier bagged all my stuff even though I told I could do it. She told me not to worry. Only thing about this Shoprite is that I feel it's smaller than other ones I've been to, esp over in NJ. They don't have any of the extreme fancy stuff here like cafe or alcohol section (unless I'm blind and missed it), but the customer service def makes it one of the top ones in my book. Oh, btw, they double coupons up to $.99! :-) It would be nice if they doubled $1 coupons and tripled up to $.99 like some others, but that's rare to find. read more

Pretty good store but it needs an update. They also need rye bread. Lol I usually just get my lotto numbers and use the bathroom there. The store is huge. The deli is always crowded. The produce was out of brussel sprouts but a worker went back and got us 2 things of them. Great flower selection. With an update and a bigger book/ magazine aisle this place would rock. I can't go more than 3 stars since it's local, organic and gluten free sections aren't as large as say trader joes or whole foods type stores. But they are the cheapest supermarket in Delco and better than all of the other big brand name markets. Acne , super fresh , etc. Plus they have their can can sales. And even if their organic section is small compared to Trader kids and whole foods it's bigger than other brand name markets except maybe for the giant on oak ave. Cashiers are quick and lines move fast that is plus. For most consumers it get 4 stars but our house is organic so it's get deducted a star. read more

This store was great for awhile. Now, it must be running under a different manager because I'm seeing a steady decline. We were there again today, snow was predicted so there were the usual panic buyers. Got to the checkout area and saw only two lines open, people stacked in the aisle five or six deep. This is the third time this has happened, not in the off hours, but at 1:00 in the afternoon. No effort to open other registers. Either they have not hired enough cashiers or it is just poor planning. Whatever the problem, I used to really like this store, but I get the feeling that they simply don't care. Plus side, they do keep the store stocked. But the long lines are just dreadful. read more

My husband and I did the early morning senior shopping today. It was a wonderful experience. The store was very clean, aisles clear and organized. All the staff appeared to be happy to be there. I did not hear any grumbling, or discussions unrelated to their task. (this is often experienced in other supermarkets and retail stores) I was guided to the appropriate aisles for items by clerks in the area. While standing gazing a young man nodded and said good morning, and asked if I was ok. I responded by telling him 'I need rosemary, but it is not on any self'. ( there were 2 other shoppers also looking for rosemary. We could not find it). By the time I arrived at the checkout, the young man surprised me by handing me the rosemary. I was shocked at the wonderful service. He was walking with a cart with mop and cleaning items. So, I did not expect him to even know what I was talking about. This was a wonderful gesture of going the extra mile. Regrettably, I did not get his name. He was a tall, lean young man of color, with long hair. I thanked him and would like to thank him again through this review. I checked out with another very pleasant clerk named Taylor. It was a pleasure to shop at the Eddystone Shoprite today. Thank You! This is a Collin's Family Shoprite store. I don't know if other Shoprite stores are this bad, but this one has the worse produce section I've seen in my life (I'm 68 years old!). Lettuces and greens are almost always limp and drooping, bell peppers with soft spots, pulpy eggplants, limp celery, potatoes that are greenish from sun exposure, shriveled parsnips & ginger, bags of moldy onions. I could go on and on! At least 1/3 of the produce has no pricing in the display areas. The variety is extremely limited. If you can get one of their roast chickens out of their oven less than one hour, they are wonderful. If they sit under the heat lamps more than 50 minutes, they get overcooked and you have mushy chicken - definitely not wonderful. In the last few months, I see chickens displayed that are 3-5 hours old! The people working there are helpful and courteous, I'll give them that. But if there was another grocery store near where I live that I could get to, I'd stop shopping at this one. read more

This Shoprite is well stocked and clean and the prices are great. The produce is beautiful and well cared for, they have a deal with the produce store up the street so always have some interesting choices one wouldn't otherwise find in a typical supermarket. They are always busy the staff is friendly and they keep the line moving. The neighborhood is fine, I love that Shoprite is close to Chester where there are limited options for fresh food. read more

For the most part the Associates in this store are great. It is well stocked but it seems the sales items are not always available as in the past. The reason for the poor rating has to do with the raincheck policy. You play by the rules and then you are stuck in line feeling like you are begging for apiece of paper because they ran out of a sale item. What usually happens, I do my shopping and I know the store very well. When I exhaust every place I can look for an item I checkout. After I check out I go over to the service desk where I patiently wait in line. When my turn comes, the service rep calls out to the department reponsible and after condierable time the stock person comes back on and says we do not have that item. Then it is ok for me to get a raincheck. This creates two more problems, usually my ice cream has begun to melt and I have to wait again because the reps have other customers. It is not supposed to be so hard. I have complained about this on several occassions over the years and I am told to ask for a manager when I need a raincheck. Yet everytime I ask for a manager, the rep starts the looking for the product routine again. Had enough? The last straw was being overcharged for a 12 pk of soda. I went back to the store and an adjustment was made. The refund was made incorrectly because the tax paid for the item in error was not refunded. When I asked should't there have been a refund for tha tax and the rep says no; it was not marked with a "T". I later found out it was marked with a "B" which stands for Beverage which is completely taxable. It is a shame because this has been my store of choice since they opened. In addition to shopping for myself I would shop for 7 or 8 shut-in neighbors. I have lost the respect I had for their management team and they have lost a very loyal customer. I already found anoher Shoprite that does not have the same ridiculous rain check hassle / policy. I will be bringing my business plus my neighbors' business. You know what they say, one door closes and another one opens. I plan to mention to any one who will listen how ridiculous the Customer Service at this store is handled. You would think they would bend over backward to help regular customers. I wonder how many customers they have lost to the Walmart right next door. Last night my wife and I went to the store noted above and had the absolute worst experience ever! Prior to shopping my wife called customer service and asked if you accepted competitor coupons and was told "yes we do". After spending about an hour shopping for thanksgiving and other items we went to check out. I wanted to purchase 24 bottles of "Body Armor sports drink" (our daughter is an athlete and prefers this to Gatorade) I hand the cashier the coupons and after rolling her eyes at me she stated "are you serious". she then calls the "head cashier" over and I received the same annoyed look from her. She then said I don't think we accept these coupons (from WAWA) so she went to ask the manager, after about a 5-7 minute wait she comes back to say "we no longer accept competitors coupons". I then asked to speak to the manager, I then waited another 10-15 minutes for him to come over (he was too busy laughing and joking with other employees at the customer service desk, please feel free to look at the videos from last night) he comes over and rudely "we don't accept those coupons", I explained to him that my wife called and was told you do. "Well we don't" was the answer I received. Needless to say I cancelled my entire order (well over $150), and there is a very good chance I will never. I've been a Shoprite customer since I was a kid shopping with my parents and grandparents at the store on Front and Snyder ave in South Philadelphia, and never have I been so upset and embarrassed!!! read more

By far the worst Shoprite customer service EVER. The woman that is often at customer service is absolutely terrible with dealing with digital coupons that do not come off the order. She blames the customer for them not working when it is the systems fault. Even the other people that work with her think she does a terrible job. Terrible store manager. Went to return an item and I am standing in the line and the manager along with few other employees joking around/chatting/laughing.... You know what I mean. The managers asks me right then and there whether the item is open (he is not even taking any customers, just casually asks me) and I say no its not opened. So i wait for my turn and my turn comes after 5 or so minutes. Unfortunately I didn't have the receipt for the item so I told the girl at the customer service if she can look up by my credit card (which all stores usually do) and provide me a store credit and she says she cannot lookup by credit card outright. The manager who was standing there intervenes and says you got to show the proof that the item was purchased at shoprite. I said of course it was purchased at shoprite and its not stolen. He reiterates to show me the proof. How disgusting that they suspect customers to be thieves!! Thanks to the smart phones I lookup on my credit card accounts online to find the transaction (At this point I was more interested in proving that I did purchase it). I find the transaction and show him and he tells me that since this was not purchased at this particular shoprite he can't take it as these are owned by two different owners. first i heard this, so the name shoprite doesnt matter. I was taken aback and I called my wife who was shopping at the same time to abandon the cart and let's not buy at this store which treats its customers like this. Will never shop again here. read more
