I occasionally come here if I am in the area and need to pick up a few items. The problem is that the experience is never really a pleasant one. First, the parking lot. Everyone coming and going look like they're in some kind of gumball rally where either they are inching along or ready to run over. I have learned to avoid the deli section at all costs. The throng of people who are waiting to get their order in look like they are in the Hunger Games except nobody ever wants to volunteer as tribute. The few times I needed to ask a question at customer service, they didn't quite answer the actual question. I'll skip in the future unless absolutely necessary. read more

Valarie helped me at the hot food department. She was amazing. So im going to be brief wit this review. Chicken is juicy and crispy. Perfect. Collard greens has turkey in it good enough to make you want to lie about cooking it yourself. Mac and cheese is good. Cheesy. Not baked. I swear if you put that in the oven and added bread crumbs to the top, you've fooled someone. Sweet potatoes, delicious BUT could use a little more brown sugar and/or butter. Either way it's good. Sweet potatoes is the only reason I'm giving them a 4. Other then that even the person in the kitchen helping was amazing. I'm going back just because her customer service was A1! read more

Nice, clean and in a good shopping center (Hallmark, Petsmart, a Chinese restaurant that I used to frequent many moons ago (IDK if they're still good or not?), a liquor store and some more that slip my feeble mind. This ShopRite was clean, well organized and was even decorated especially nice. We got all of the icecream and sides that we wanted! Always crowded and definitely not my favorite place to shop but when I am in this area, this is where we go for all the essentials. Opens at 7 AM - and if you go around 7:15 on a week day (Tuesday - Friday) it is less crowded. I have never used the full services areas like the deli nor the seafood counter - I just grab dairy, produce and shelf stable items and go. Mid-priced - decent sales. The worse part? Crowded. not sure I trust this store. I went to the register 3 different days with Activia yogurt only for the computer to tell me there is a recall on it. Then the front register people say it's OK, it just means it's not in our computer. we can override that. Really? Now my complaint is with Naan bread. it sells out as fast as it comes in but that is not my complaint. I get it home and within 2 days the bread is moldy. Does this ShopRite not care about the health of its customers. more I more I revert back to Acme. I call in to talk to a manager and no one can reach them. I send in an email and get no response. This review is specifically about the deli. In a wonderful humanitarian act, ShopRite of Lawnside has hired slots to work at their deli. There are two women who tend to work in the evening who seem like they would prefer to do anything other than help their customers. Sumo wrestlers can finish a marathon quicker than these two women help their customers. In the past, there have been great people working behind the counter such as Al and Monica to name a couple. But their latest crew has you preparing for breakfast even before you get your dinner. read more

Finally... a Shop Rite in the area! This is basically like any other typical Shop Rite only it's brand new. The aisles seem to be wider than other Shop Rites so that makes it easier when walking down the aisles with your shopping cart. There is a section of different types of cheeses with a selection similar (only not as big) to Wegman's. Local farm produce is also are featured at the front of the store. There are many aisles for checkout and a few self checkout. The most unique feature of this Shop Rite location is the nostalgic photos along the walls of local landmarks from Stratford, Magnolia, Barrington and a few other towns. For the sixth time in a row today my deli order that I ordered through their app was not ready at the time it was supposed to be and neither were orders for the 5 other people standing there. Manager proceeded to lie to us and tell us he had brought out orders 20 minutes ago when I had been waiting at the cooler for a HALF AN HOUR with multiple other people. Was told it was being prepared at 2:45 (pickup time was 2:15) and a 3:05 I abandoned my cart and left like I saw two other people do. I was at the store for over an hour for 5 items. The kicker? My deli order was 1.5 lb of cheese and a lb of Cole slaw. Oh well. I will NEVER return. And the previous five times after waiting 30 minutes past my pickup time I had to go to the deli and ask where it was and they sliced it for me but today was enough. There's other places I can go and get fast courteous service and no lies. Don't offer the online ordering if you can't do what needs to be done. And when the crew is in the weeds, turn it off so people can't place orders and you won't have former customers like me. Wasted over an hour on a Sunday for 5 items and a deli order. read more

Years ago I had a bad experience and wrote a review about it. But today I had a wonderful experience and want to update. I was looking for Nut Thins but they were sold out. I asked an employee if they had any and they said they weren't due in for a couple days. No big deal, I can wait. A while later I was checking out and George came up to me with two boxes of the exact ones I wanted. Then he took my Romain to the produce section and swapped it out for me. This store is clean and usually very friendly. However, today I was forced to use the self checkout and I had a really large order. I bring my own bags and every couple of seconds I had to have the cashier clear my register. Clearly me bringing my own bags had something to do with this. I was so frustrated that I did something I usually would not do and that is lose my patience and ask the young woman "what am I doing wrong!!!" she said "nothing, I trying to clear your register as fast as I can". I apologized not meaning to get mad at her. However, this is crazy it took me longer to check out then it did to shop, that is unacceptable! read more

This Shop Rite just opened last week, it is brand-spanking new. I do most of my shopping at Wegmans (with a little WholeFoods, Trader Joe's and farmers markets thrown into the mix). Fair or not, I use Wegmans as my current comparison. - PRODUCE: The selection looked good and the prices are competitive. (good pricing on cherries and berries at this moment). I try to buy organic produce at least for the 'dirty dozen' (fruits/vegetables known to have the highest quantity of pesticides). I buy conventional produce for the others.... this ShopRite has some organics but pricing seemed to be more spendy than Wegmans (I imagine Wegmans has more of a demand/purchasing power/turnover). At least ShopRite is trying! - SEAFOOD: When I buy fish, I like to ask the employee behind the counter if I can smell the particular piece that I am considering... if they look at me strangely, they fail the test. He passed! I prefer wild-caught fish (not farmed), they have a decent selection. Most of the seafood looked fresh. The space surrounding the seafood counter did not smell fishy, that is a good thing. Pricing seemed competitive. - MEATS: I try to buy free range/organic but my wallet can't afford it all the time. They have good selection/pricing on Pork Butt Shoulder Roast (pulled pork for the win!). They have better pricing for flank/skirt steak than other supermarkets. They carry Uncured bacon (nitrate/nitrite free) but only Applegate brand from what I can see. They carry some Grass-Fed (grain finished though) ground beef. I don't buy Deli meats but they seem to have a decent selection. - DAIRY: They carry Kefir, good to see that. They have a decent amount of organic/cage-free eggs. - CANNED GOODS: Very nice (large) selection of canned seafood (tuna/salmon/wild caught) - 'SPECIALTY'' selection: For those gluten free folks, I did see a small selection but nothing compared to Wegmans. They carry some Red Mill products. I couldn't find any Coconut Oil, Coconut flour or Almond Flour... I spoke with the Customer Service counter, they took down my name/phone number and wrote down my request as something they would consider stocking for the future (if they find a demand). Good Customer Service so far! - PREPARED FOODS: It didn't look too appetizing to me but I don't usually buy that kind of stuff so no love lost here. - CHECK-OUT LINE: The staff was friendly / FYI: If you store you Shoppers Reward card digitally on your smartphone (ie: 'Key Ring' application), they can scan it with the hand-held scanner (I had to point that out to the staff member). I didn't see any glaring kinks. I did notice that the check-out lane lights seemed to be off-colored, making it difficult for me to tell what lane was opened or closed. Then again, my eyesight is not so good... could be me. I will be back, especially for some of the meat items. I will try to write an updated review at the 3 month, 6 month or 1 year mark. read more

This store is really disappointing. It is very small, was expecting a larger setup. There is no liquor/wine section either like in other newer Shoprites. I've been here twice. The girl that rang me up the first time (Briana maybe? Messy black curly hair, very young, over confident) was a ditzy idiot...so to avoid interacting with dumb kid employees, opted for self-checkout the second time, much better idea. The veggies were all deplorable. The bell peppers were soft and wrinkly, about to rot. The yogurt on the shelf that I wanted expired two days prior to me being there. I don't think this place does justice to the Zale's Shoprite name. It takes me two minutes to get here, but I will be going to the much better Shoprite Berlin from now on still even though it is farther. read more

Been a while since my last venture into Shop Rite in Lawnside. Didn't spend too much time in the store. Picked up a few items for the household. Breakfast items, lunch items, snacks for my kids. What I like is the convenience of knowing where everything is when I walk in the store. This makes the shopping experience that much easier and I appreciate that a great deal. read more

Prices are more reasonable than nearby stores, and have a great selection (especially in produce.) I recently started shopping online and picking up curbside since I have two very young children. my husband went shopping last night at 630 p last night he used the self checkout he went to process the payment then the lady came and overrode the transaction because a item needed to be removed after they entered the code the screen glitched so they printed out the recipes from the transaction and re rang it on the new computer and it showed they actually processed the transaction but since the computer glitched they reversed it and screwed everything up they made my husband look like a fool acting like he was doing something wrong and the manager bob was rude and did nothing to make us feel like they cared and blamed us we called corporate and they still haven't called us back they don't care our bank stay shows they took the money and now we are calling the police read more

I really enjoy shopping here. My only complaint is out of stock sale items. Raincheck are available. The entire staff, from managers to cashiers, are friendly and courteous. The deli workers are really nice and friendly. They make you want to shop here! The prepared food service items are excellent. Everything from potato salad chicken salad to cooked salmon. All really good. Cooked chicken is also great! Sometimes they run out but I understand it's hard to predict what you will need day to day. The bakery, tucked away in the last aisle in corner is unbelievable. For a supermarket bakery this stuff is really good. Almost too good! Doughnuts are awesome. I was here on Labor Day. What a true crap show... This is not my normal grocery store. I stopped in here to pick up a few things on the way to a friends house. This Shop Rite has to to be the worst run store in South Jersey. I have never seen such lazy incompetent employees in a retail establishment. Standing in line for twenty minutes to check out literary four items. LONG lines all over. And where was the manager, in the self check out checking out his own groceries. When I asked why not hire more employees, he starts on this long spiel about the self-checkouts.... He was just as aggravated as the customers, you could clearly see it. The person who was supposed to be helping the people at the self checkout was to busy "helping" the pretty young ladies who were Not even in the self-check out lines... He was very upset when he had to stop talking to them and come over and actually do the job he was being paid to do.. What happen to satisfying your customer? I've had the worst experience with this Shop Rite specifically with 1 MANAGER!!! Clerk (Ava) and other manager (Shana) were amazing and helpful! If you ever need help with anything please ask for another manager if Harry is put into the situation. He treated me as if I'm an idiot. I had forgotten to put a couple items in the belt while checking out, they were left right before the belt moves... so I kindly asked for a solution bc I needed all my groceries on 1 receipt. He rudely explained how that is too much work bc his employee needs to scan each item out one by one, which I understood. But the way he was talking and acting were like he didn't want to do any extra work. He was being lazy at work and it was showing. He couldn't think of a solution for me ( which is easy! Return and ReBuy but he was lazy! ) I will never shop at that Shop Rite as long as Harry is working there. Rude and not customer friendly at allll. read more

Ya know, I hate to be that person that puts down the nice new establishment that was just renovated in Lawnside, but today I am forced to be that person. There are some kick ass features to this new place but unfortunately the pros aren't great enough to bring me back, because the cons were just too much. Pros: -This property was useless and ugly before. They have renovated the outside and inside beautifully and the opening of this Shop Rite has totally resurrected that half-dead shopping center. -The made-to-order sandwich counter (or pre-made sandwich selection if you're in a hurry) is a cool new feature. Haven't seen that in any other Shop Rite. -The produce section is very aesthetically pleasing, and a much more varied and fresh selection than I've seen at other Shop Rites. That's about where the good ends. In that entire store, that's all the good I could come up with. Sad, right? Cons: -This place just opened up the weekend of the 13th. I visited this location about a week later. My shopping partner in crime and I saw a great sale on crab legs, picked up a box, and the expiration date read July 13, 2013. Can someone please explain to me how the place didn't even open until then, and they have expired food from that date? Even if they had to transfer some food from other Shop Rites or something to fill these shelves, how is it already that they're slacking on getting expired food out of the displays? That's gross. And if that's only the beginning, it's a bad indicator for the future. -The parking lot is a disaster. They placed these pretty little mulch beds in between some row of cars. God forbid you forget where your car is like I did, and you walk down the wrong aisle in the parking lot, be prepared to launch your cart monster-truck style over the mulched barriers to get to the next row of cars over. -At check-out, bagger boy dropped my cellophane-wrapped sandwich, face-down. Dearest bagger boy didn't have the courtesy to let me know he dropped my sandwich face down or ask if that was okay or if i needed a new one; he just picked it up, put it in the bag, and went about his day. I don't think he noticed I saw that all go down. I ate the sandwich and didn't say a word about it, but what if i had minded the smooshed sandwich? Or was worried about germs? No courtesy to warn me he had let my sandwich make-out with the floor. -This place is a ZOO. To be fair, I was here on a Saturday morning. But I have been to busy grocery stores on Saturday mornings. This is not like a normal busy Saturday morning. It's something about the way they lay everything out and place the free-standing displays. I ran into 4+ people, some of them employees, without any acknowledgement from anyone. The busy Saturday morning isn't the establishment's fault, but the layout and employee courtesy are. If you don't want to read all that and just wanna know the down-low: This place really isn't worth going out of your way to visit like I did. Your local, old, early 1990s decorated Shop Rite is just as good. If this is your closest Shop Rite though, it's not too bad. - read more

Why should it matter whether I use Shoprite's app or my own app (Beep 'n Go) to store the savings card? Both would have the same number and barcode. If I need to receive any promotional information and there is an error, then that is my problem, not the store's. The cashier was going to use a "DUMMY" card to give me the discount anyway, so why not just scan my info and move on? read more

I was thrilled that this grocery store opened up especially since it was a ShopRite. My thrill is fading fast. I hardly ever get store issued coupons! Twice I went to courtesy counter and asked WTF! They couldn't give me an answer. The other ShopRite (Chews Landing) always gives me coupons. And once when I did get coupons the ink was all faded and I can hardly read them. Now when I use the faded coupons, the machine cannot read them so it's always a hassle. I'm gonna rethink my grocery shopping site. *********************************** update- I found myself unable to get to the other NICER Shoprite so went to this location again and guess what,,,,, I got coupons! Check your bill. Just return from the Lawnside Shop Rite where I had been billed for 18 items, when I only purchased 15. I do not know if it is a problem with the scanner or the cashier. I had a coupon saying, if I purchased $60, I would get $4 off. So I added up the purchases in my head and I was just over $60. The register said I owed $86.72. I looked at the bill and I was charged for 18 items. So I went to customer service, where the employee Rawann corrected it. I thought I should of been giving something for the register error, but she said it is only if an item is overcharged, not if you are charged for too many items. Count every item and make sure your are not being over charged. read more

Store has good variety of products with reasonable prices. However, why in the world is up with ALL the self-checkout lanes. If I wanted to check and bag my own groceries, I would apply for a job. My only alternative is to wait in long lines for just a few groceries. You have eliminated all the express lanes, which further compounds the problem. This Shop Rite location is super awesome. I'm particularly amused by the radio like show hosted here some weeknights when the store is practically empty. The bold night stockman turned fresh emcee gets on his public address announcement system to peddle eggs with personality, deli meats with a passion, and pudding cakes with jolly hilarity. And I would want to give them five stars, but the milk prices are not as competitive as Cherry Hill's, an that's a big drawback. Also, the produce is often imported from mexico or dominican republic or other far-off places, and I far prefer local fresh vegetables, even if grocers must charge a surplus for quality. read more
