That came here last Sunday and I think this is the biggest Walmart I've ever seen. So you know they have plenty of parking. The staff was so helpful. It's very loud and bustling so many people in there. There's almost traffic to get to the parking lot to get into a space and they were mostly all full so when you go on this one, you won't have to bring your walk issues so I'm comfortable cause there's a lot to cover! Only thing I was a little annoyed by was that even though this store is huuuge, a lot of inventory was sold out or they didn't carry it. that may be good for them, but not good for me. After calling numerous times throughout the day trying to notify them that I couldn't get away from work for pickup, and that I'd be late (no one answered all day)....finally got there after work. I waited for like 20 min or so after checking in, and still no one to get my items. I didn't want to shop after work, so I did the curbside thing.... BIG MISTAKE! Worst. I get that they close 11 but some people don't work typical hours, so shopping at night is what we have to do. I went in for 4 things and got everything in about 3 minutes. So, I've been going to the Somerdale Walmart for a while. Sometimes it's good. Other times, horrendous. Between screaming kids or clueless staff, I've learned just to pick my poison and accept it. Because, well, it's Walmart. What do you expect? When the Walmart+ membership first became available, I thought, okay, this might alleviate some of those stresses. And it did...at first. Then the benefits of having a Walmart+ membership changed. And so did the app. Now, it's back to being the nonsense that is, well, Walmart. Here's one example of how ineptitude at this particular location works alongside a poor user experience within the app (Walmart developers take note)... I decided to do a pickup order through the Walmart website. Great. No problems there. Then I receive an email saying it was a curbside order. Huh? I don't recall choosing "curbside" as my pickup option on the site. I thought I selected pickup in-store, but okay, whatever. In the email, a button instructs me to click the "check-in" button when I'm on my way to the store to speed up the pickup process. Okay. I click it. This takes me to the homepage of the Walmart app with no further instructions. Being a more intuitive user, I realize I have to locate my order and click the "check-in" button from there. Yes! No. As it's now met with a "Sorry. We're having technical issues..." pop-up window. ‍ So, I drive to the Somerdale Walmart and try the "check-in" option while connected to their store wi-fi instead. Perhaps it's a proximity issue. Same pop-up alert appears--"Sorry. We're having technical issues..." Fine. I'll go inside the Walmart and right to the service counter since I have no idea what to do next. And obviously, the app is now useless. At the service desk, I greet the woman at the counter with a "hello, how are you?" She makes direct eye contact but ignores me and walks away as if I'm a ghost. (Who knows, maybe I am?) So, I head to the other two female associates nearby who are packing up pickup or delivery orders. I ask them how I can pick up my order since the app doesn't work correctly. The associate tells me to go to the curbside location and call the number. "Where is the curbside location?? What number??" My confusion is met with, "Sorry, we can't help you. Go to the curbside location." Fine. I just want my order. I go back outside the building to search for the curbside location on foot since the congested parking lot presents other issues I'm in no mood to deal with. (TIP: The curbside location is not easily visible nor near the main entrances. It's around the corner, tucked away from view.) And I see that each spot at curbside has a phone number on each numbered sign. Fair enough. I call the number. Nobody picks up. Instead, I'm greeted with an answering service telling me to leave a message and my number. I hang up and call again. Same thing. I call a third time. Same thing. I'm not leaving a message, as this is just getting ridiculous. The fourth time I call back, someone picks up and HANGS UP on me. The fifth time someone finally answers and stays on the line. I am asked for what space I'm in. "I'm in Spot #16." Followed by radio silence. "Hello?" I ask. "One minute," is the reply. Then silence for two. Then I'm instructed to go to "Spot #1." ‍ After several minutes of standing outside in Spot #1, someone finally comes outside and hands me my pickup order in a Walmart reusable bag. They add that they are giving me the free bag. Too bad it wasn't packaged with better customer service. ‍ Side note: I get an email from Walmart asking me to rate this experience. I give them a poor review and click the submit button. It returns with a prompt that reads, "Sorry. We're having technical issues..." read more

Racial profiling much? Had security following me around the entire the time. I did not feel comfortable while I was there with my family shopping around for gifts. Did not appreciate being spied upon the whole time. As if the cameras everywhere weren't already enough they had to have some doofus that takes his job a little too seriously following me around like he's a bodyguard or something. read more

Waited about 30 minutes for someone to open the glass holding the spray paint. Asked multiple employees. No one knew who had the key and couldn't find a manager. One employee tried helping me but his coworkers literally ignored him. He had a disability and it felt like his co workers were just taking advantage of him. Another employee went to get the manager who never came. Absolutely ridiculous. Most of the employees were just standing around. Left and went to Target and got what I needed right away. read more

Walmart doesn't ask pet owners that bring in their untrained dogs if the dog is a service animal.  Today a woman dragged her dog up and down the isles. The dog was being dragged and his feet were locked and sliding across the floor. When i mentioned to the guard she said nothing. The door greeter said you can bring in your dog as long as it is on a leash. He also said he's not allowed to ask questions because of the disability act. I have nicknamed Walmart, "Wal-nuts" because the people who shop there are truly on the brink of insanity. Shopping only based on price. Yes, it's cheap - but also chaotic, crowded (the check out experience is not pleasant) and for a few bucks more, I'd rather go elsewhere. So I'm doing my grocery pick up I've been sitting here for over twenty minutes. It looks like they have one girl working this is ridiculous. All the pick up spots are taken and other cars have to pull to the side to wait for their pick ups. I have never seen it like this ever. I'm sorry if your short staffed this bad, get some of the other workers to help. I know it's a free service but this is crazy. I am so frustrated right now. Meanwhile if you walked Into the store there will be workers just walking around aimlessly. And I get it , it's Walmart people always have stuff to say about it but your offering this service and whether it's free or not you should be concerned about keeping ur customer happy. Clothes and toys section are pretty big, cosmetic section is somehow very small and things are very limited. Stopped by yesterday and today and was advised that customer service was closed -totally closed. I wanted to return a defective item and get a working replacement. No notices posted on door, only a nasty red headed woman standing there in a black coat with no store identification. She had no idea when it would reopen. She stated that certain training and credentials were required to work in the return area and those people were out because of COVID. This could be true, I've seen numerous stores dealing with the pandemic, but this HUGE box store can't cope? No, they don't want to take the extra effort in creative scheduling to fit in a couple of hours to take returns. I guarantee the nasty red headed manager was qualified to do it, but she was too busy squawking and cawing that it was closed. Such poor excuse for professionalism. read more

Normally all the trash cans are overflowing and if by chance does actually carts available in the store because they're usually left out in the parking lot, the ones available are usually broke or not moving right. They're making major changes in terms to the layout of the store. They've changed over the checkout so that the customers are now doing all the work LOL. Once you find what used to be somewhere else-- you get over the frustration... Nothing is where it used to be-- except for the Deli... And the Deli is where I head to when Mary or Marie are working :) Last week I shopped and met a lady who was wearing a name tag "Meena" I think. But her name was Menisha or something starting with an M. I asked her if they have a checkout for handicap people and --she voluntarily started scanning, bagging and loading my items! I was blown away. As I was leaving-- I glanced over and saw both Mary and Marie. I did a b-line over and Mary, as usual, saw me and she actually remembers what I order-- thanksgiving turkey and sharp cheese. Point being, when interacting with these folks at this Walmart Super Center-- I have yet to have a bad experience. From entering to exiting the store-- it's 99% positive. THE. WORST. WALMART. AROUND! Do yourself a favor, go to any other Walmart location than the one in Somerdale. All you will get is a bunch of lies and excuses...one employee telling you one thing, another employee telling you something completely the opposite. The level of rudeness there is off the charts, also,. It must be a job requirement for being an employee there. And you will never be able to get hot foods from the hot food bar. I can't believe I am reviewing a Walmart? I mean, a Walmart is a Walmart, right? I was one of those cats that initially boycotted Walmart and other big box stores; vowing my hardest to support the local mom'n'pops (I still do). However, sometimes my wallet dictates otherwise. Walmart is where I buy my MAG flashlights, Coleman coolers and folding chairs for tailgating/camping. It is where I often buy my toiletries. Most Walmarts are very depressing and overcrowded.They usually have that terrible Subway fast food smell wafting through the air. Or the morbidly obese riding around on scooters. Or the pants-on-the-ground hoodlums that could be auditioning for the next walking dead movie. This particular Walmart is a heck of a lot better than other Walmarts. It is spacious. It doesn't smell. They have a decent inventory. For the most part, the people shopping at this location seem to be decent (as I define decent). Oh yeah, the cashiers are friendly. The parking lot/traffic patterns are not a headache. This is not as close to me as other Walmarts but I will go out of my way rather than to shop at those other cesspools. read more

Thank you, Walmart, for proving once again that you are the devil. I loathe this company as a whole, but found myself in a situation requiring some emergency items after other stores had closed for the day. First, the pluses of this particular location: 1. There is a huge grocery section that includes a bakery, deli and produce. There is also an optician and a Subway. 2. The place is huge, therefore, each department has a decent selection. 3. The store is fairly new and, as such, is still somewhat neat and somewhat clean. Now for the negatives: 1. How can you have a gazillion registers and only a few are open? And how do you not open more registers when each of the three open registers have lines similar to those you find at any store the day before Christmas? 2. The cosmetics department doesn't have any price tags, therefore, you have no idea what anything will cost. 3. Service is hit or miss -- some of the staff members are nice; some are downright ignorant. 4. You take your life into your hands crossing the parking lot. 5. Also, why are the Somerdale police ALWAYS present in the parking lot? read more

This walmart is pretty clean and put together better than most walmarts. My biggest complaint and reason for never returning is the amount of checkout lines upon wanting to pay for your items. There are no self checkout lines, which would save people valuable time. There are at most 3-4 cashiers working at any given time that I have been there at multiple times a day. Having to wait in line for 20 minutes while staff take their time to ring up items of the 2-3 people ahead of you is not acceptable. First of all, I'm not sure why this has so many "$$$$" ratings... It's Walmart. It's "$" at most. It would probably have negative dollar signs if that were an option. This is a super center Walmart. It is usually pretty crowded and parking is limited if you go anytime before darkness on any day. This store has your typical low price, low quality food and the every day household supplies offered by a non super center. The worst part is that there are generally two check out lines open in the entire store. The lines get soooo backed up, it's ridiculous. It makes me not want to come here. I actually don't unless it's night when most people are sleeping. Although this store is twenty-four hours and supposed to do returns all night, the customer service desk will not allow returns after eleven PM, so go early if you need to return something. Overall, it's Walmart, and it serves its Walmarty purpose. (Two stars because of those damn long check out lines.) read more

I always write reviews on this Walmart (through) their website and I'm not sure if they ever read them , but customer service is terrible, and the managers walk right past you and say absolutely nothing are rude when you ask them questions( almost as if they're bothered)The store is hardly ever stocked with items. Example, I went in there yesterday... shelves were bare and you can't find stuff one minute to the next( frustrating) and can't find it the next time I go. Cannot find decent clothes, searched all around the store for sweat pants and couldn't find any in my size. The only pants they had were non-sweats and all short ones. Biggest disappointment of all was going into their Subway/Auntie Anne's. Was waiting in line for 10 minutes, because the customer in front of me was ordering the store, basically. Honestly, this is the best Walmart I've ever been to, and not because it's my hometown Walmart. It's clean. I don't feel gross going into this place and buying my produce, food, and clothing. It has everything one would possibly need. Almost. It has TWO Red Boxes. It's open 24 hours-great for late night ice cream cravings and much cheaper than going to a Wawa. BUT...be prepared to wait in line, because there are never enough open lanes for the amount of business they do, and there are no self service lines, yet. read more

Obnoxious manager. They forgot to remove anti-theft alarms twice. Had to go back first time but got them to flip for my uber. Second time (after giving them loads of business) I told the manager I lost my receipt but paid by credit card. He didn't know he was supposed to tell me I could have them look it up, and instead accused me of pulling something on them and alleged I probably refused to stop when the alarm went off. Really? If that was the case why didn't his crack security team stop me? Of course I'd stop... I had a receipt. Had check out problems with untrained staff before...also no one answered store phone repeatedly when I called to complain about anti-theft device. This store is closest to me by just a bit, I opt to go to this one because it seems more "quiet" but that isn't saying much. The "catering" is a joke here. No order forms, no one knows what is what, prices are off and they tell you to call in orders but when you call they say you have to come in. That being said the people in the deli are saints. They have to put up with so much but still try so hard to stay upbeat. The wait is long for the deli... actually all lines are super long. The store is pretty clean, but items that go out of stock do not return for a long while (pizza rolls and turkey burgers namely!) Many times fights break out in the lot, but to be honest this is common at most of the stores. It's a so so store. I will continue to shop there. Oh, beware the idiots using the power chairs who don't need them. Added note: a young man on customer service helped me with a cat food coupon issue and the guy deserves a raise. This super-Walmart offers SO much and at the same time not enough because they always run out of what I am looking for. They're 24-hours (convenient) and they're basically your one-stop shop for everything from groceries to appliances and electronics and home goods. Found my stuff, but only after sifting through the whole picture frame display, as it wasn't stocked correctly. Orange juice is wayyyyy in the back, which was annoying. This, simply stated, is a terrible Walmart. There are NEVER enough cashiers. Day, night -- doesn't matter. I've waited in line for a half an hour at 1AM and even longer at peak hours. Despite having plenty of registers, the smallest amount possible always seem to be in use. Employees are always way more focused on their personal conversations than in even acknowledging a customer, let alone assisting them. Also, and this NEEDS to be stated in all capital letters, THERE ARE MORE FISH DEAD THAN ALIVE IN THE PET SECTION. Terrible Walmart. Which is really saying something. read more
