I walked in say hi got good hi, inside was clean and good. The service was awesome. I finally came to Shopwise Meat Market since its been around for a long time each time I drive down seaboard road to go to my uncles place on seaboard road. I never went into that shopping strip ever. I go every Monday forgetting it was close so I never got a chance I wanted to go this Tuesday, but it was raining after going shopping around landstown so on the way home i was like just go home because I also had ice cream in a cooler so didn't want it to melt either. Shopwise Meat Market reminds me of the 70's TV show The Brady Bunch. Ya know Sam's butcher shop. OH it's Great. They not only have an awesome butcher selection they have a good lunch menu. We picked up The Italian sub with "THE WORKS". Nice big sub, Fresh, Full of yummy flavor. Really hit the spot. Take out only. They have a drink cooler and you can get a bag of chips. The meat counter is A M A ZING!!!! You want it they have it. They even have seasoning for the grill of all kinds and they sell smokers that talk to your phone. SUPER COOL. I really wish they had some seating outside but we just sat in our car and ate. With the Pandemic we are use to eating in our car. We will definitely will be frequent shoppers at Shopwise Meat Market to get meat for the grill and pick up a sub for lunch. Summer is going to be great this year now that we found this place. Best Italian in VB? YES, possibly in Tidewater. Shopwise Meat Market located on Seaboard just off Princess Anne is both a meat market & sandwich shop. You probably have driven by it and never knew it was there. It's in the same strip as Brothers Pizza. I found plenty of parking, clean lot and sidewalk. Owners Jerome & Al hail from the Bronx and Harlem respectively and have worked together since the mid 70's. These two gentlemen with a combined 80+ years in the meat business know their stuff. The best selling sandwich 10 to 1 is their fresh and authentic Italian. Shopwise opened at the beach in 93 and had been at its current location for 15 years. Prior to this they were on Whitchduck. They do it all including butchering their own meat, making some of their own sauces and even processing venison. My order, their signature Italian sub with provolone, ham cappy, salami, pepperoni and "the works". Everything is authentic down to their incredible bread. To go was a Brisket sandwich for my son. The Italian was indescribably scrumptious. It's huge and was crushed in the parking lot prior to exiting. My son reported he loved the Brisket. Awesome job by sandwich maker Stuart for assembling my master piece Italian sub. They also sell Trager BBQ Grills which are considered by many to be the best smokers. Jerome was giving a tutorial of how one of the two models on the floor worked. I would recommend this meat market/sandwich shop all day long. 4.5 and rounding to a 5. And I honestly did not hear anyone say hello when we walked in. Then a woman who was speaking with one of the owners came up to me and said rudely "you need to speak up when someone says hello to you". unbelievable, so rude. I told her I wear hearing aids and she just said "well sorry for that but you need to say hello". I work near here, and one day on my lunch break I decided to stop at the butcher shop descriptively named "Meat Market" and see if there was anything worth getting for dinner. Turned out, I get lunch there fairly often but I've never gotten dinner. See, while they have regular cuts of beef and chicken and pork available, their specialty is prepared meats: a variety of meats marinated in-store, meatballs and meatloafs mixed in-store, and raw jucy lucys made in-store, all ready for you to take home and cook. Also, as a butcher shop they'll sometimes have stuff in stock that's not a typical meat (whole frozen duck, for instance) and they're more than happy to take special orders (I was in there one time when a woman came to buy basically a whole pig for a 4th of July barbecue). That's all well and good. I go because of the other half of the store: the deli counter. I really should take a picture of one of their subs ("hoagies", they call them... the guy who runs the place is a New Yorker) because words alone can not convey the copious quantities of meat they put on their sandwiches. I have to pick meat off the sandwich in order to be able to eat the thing, otherwise it's all falling out of the roll. Easily 8 to 12 ounces of meat on the sub, and that's for just $7.00. And I mentioned their specialty is prepared meats, right? While the majority of the lunch meat is the Diez and Watson brand, there's one exception: their roast beef. It's seasoned in-store, and roasted in-store. No preservatives, just round roast seasoned and roasted to perfection, then sliced fresh and piled high on a sub. I've bought it to bring home before, but since there's no preservatives it lost its quality quickly in my fridge. To sum up: good deli sandwiches generally, exceptional roast beef sub in particular, and a wide selection of ready-to-cook meat entrees. They're closed on Mondays, and while they do take credit cards, there's a minimum purchase required if you use Discover. read more

OMG this place is delicious! I went after seeing a picture of a sandwich someone posted for a review. The place is little but don't let that fool you. The owner was telling me they have been there for over 18 years. When you walk in the left side is meat counter the right is sandwich counter. The menu is pretty easy to figure out. I ordered the Italian with the works and a meatball sub for my daughter. It took maybe 5 mins to get the sandwiches but it gave me a chance to look at the meat they sold. Great prices for what they have. Once I got home I devoured the sandwich which was pretty messy but worth it. Definitely coming back!!! read more

It would take a NY native to finally give me a decent deli in the 757. If you're ordering a sandwich be prepared for fresh sliced meat and cheese and huge portions. Go ahead and have it with everything, oil and vinegar, salt and pepper, Italian seasoning, all the veggies... now my friend, you have had a true sandwich. Now what this place has that you won't find in Brooklyn? A good ol' southern man. And one that knows all about barbeque. I've always ranted against VA being too far south for good northern food, and too far north for good southern food. I'm not sure how these two guys ever got together, but they bring the best of both worlds. In addition to being a deli and selling some groceries in the back, they are a butcher as well. I'm sorry I was too distracted with the sandwiches to mention that earlier (but seriously, it's a damn good sandwich.) They have a huge selection of cuts ready, but you can also call ahead to order enough meat to fill your deep freezer in various package deals. They can do special orders and prep what you bring in as well. Since I've been reading a lot of good reviews regarding their hoagies, I decided to stop by and check it out. As soon as you enter, one of the co-owner greeted us which is a plus in my book. The place look typical of what a meat market should be. On the left side you will see different cut of steaks, kabobs, beef brisket and others. To the right side you will see a menu of their different hoagies. I ordered the Italian Hoagie the works. I needed a good sandwich. I tried Zero's and won't be back. I then found this place. It's a fairly unassuming little butcher shop but they also make sandwiches. I went right at peak lunch time and it appears not many people know this place makes sandwiches. I was lucky to find it. What they give you is a very hefty sandwich. I've toted around many a Subway and Jimmy John's sub and this one was twice the weight of those. Everything about it was perfect including the bread to meat ratio which is really key in a sandwich. I was so full from mine that I didn't even have to eat a full dinner. The lost star was because I witnessed what could be my death. I saw the sandwich guy dump a plastic bin of lettuce because it had been out a while, then he rinsed the bin in the sink, but not very well. Bits of the old lettuce were still attached to the sides of the bin and looked as though had been there all morning. Then the sandwich guy chopped up a new head of lettuce and put it in the bin. Good thing I had a really tasty sandwich or I would be up in arms about the dirty lettuce bin. read more

This place is incredible. Their sandwiches are on point. Huge portions for only 8 dollars, perfect for my husband and I to split for lunch or dinner. Go for the Italian with the works! The men who work here are extremely friendly and welcoming. I haven't had a chance to try any of their meats yet but I plan to very shortly. Sandwiches are awesome! We got 2 of the biggest hoagies I've ever seen- eating it was a trick! The meat selection on the other side was really intriguing too. I can't wait to come back and try a few out. The problem? We walked in and felt like it was a giant bother to order food. I asked about the subs and got one to two word answers and my husband was so put off he was scared to ask for no peppers. I went to this butcher with my father back when the owner was over on general booth (over ten years ago). Came back as a grown man and the quality has not suffered at all. So many things change from how we remember them, but the subs are still amazing, the cuts of meat are still wonderful, and the general atmosphere is amazing. I spent the earlier years of my life growing up in Philly so I'm ecstatic whenever I can find a city-styled shop anyhow. This shop will remind you of a NY butcher, the owner is awesome and can give you insight to the available cuts and how to best prepare them.
