A little hole in the wall, but kind people and good food. It was our first time here, my dad and I, so we had a few questions about the menu. The woman at the counter was very helpful and nice, explaining things to us. He decided on a cheesesteak and I got a veggie, and we got fries to split between us. Food came to us in roughly 15 minutes. In the meantime we sat and drank our teas. He got it unsweetened, while I got the sweet. Their tea is actually quite nice, although it is sweet, it's not like super sweet, you can taste the black tea on the back of your throat at the end a little. As far as food goes, it was pretty good. I like the fact that there were different types of cheeses on the veggie, and you could choose between it being hot or cold, I got cold. The bread is squishy and soft, which can be nice, but I wanted a more sturdier bread. Next time, I'll ask for it to be toasted. I'm also a person who likes mayo and mustard on it, but instead I just had their oil and vinegar, which I didn't enjoy as much. It was a little drippy because of it, but it didn't get soggy, and didn't make too much of a mess. Their fries were really good though. Nicely seasoned, and had a good crisp to them on the outside while the inside was soft. I ate them without ketchup, but they do have some on the tables if you like them like that. My dad really enjoyed his cheesesteak, and after having a bite, I can see why. The meat is tender and flavorful, nicely shredded so it just melts in your mouth. Nothing chewy about it. One of the best cheesesteaks I've ever had, even though it was only my second time. He also thought the bread could be more sturdy, but other than that it was great! Our total for everything was a little over $20 including tip. Definitely will be back to try more sometime! read more

Wow! This little VB staple off great neck was sooo good! We got the Italian toasted with banana peppers and my son got one of their burgers and both were amazing. Lives up to the hype! So glad I finally made it here to try their Philly. Followed the advice of another Yelper and ordered the "Biggie". It is more than enough for two, but definitely will have leftovers. The food is delicious and the service was great. Philly is a far drive, but at least I can satisfy my cravings with a decent cheesesteak from a local restaurant. I like the online ordering process, but you can also call in your order if you're trying to grab a quick bite. There are always plenty of seats available if you need to dine in. Service is always great (both in-store and over the phone). They really do their best to keep your cheesesteak piping hot upon pick-up. Get the cheese fries. It reheats to perfection in the air fryer even if you have leftovers. These bad boys stay crunchy for a while though as I used to live 20 mins away and still able to enjoy a crisp when I bite into them upon arrival to my [home] destination. Also, get the biggy 16" size. I microwave the 3/4 I couldn't eat for 20-30 sec, then bake in a conventional toaster oven for 8-10 mins at 350F or 300F. You can add whatever topping, however much you want. I personally pay extra for mushrooms because I'm a fun[guy](?). I love this place. I asked some friends where to get the best grinder in the area and they immediately said this place. I ordered the Italian sub and the cheese fries and they were FANTASTIC I didn't plan on eating all the fries but I couldn't help myself, they were like little fried slices of potato perfection calling them "fries" on the menu was misleading because they are more like seasoned thick curly steak fries and so much better than I expected for "fries." We love cheesesteaks, usually get them at Charlie's, and we've lived in town all my life, I'm in my 50s, and Philly Cold Cuts at Great Neck has literally... literally been on my to-do list for at least 26 years when we lived at Hilltop. I've never heard anything but raves and thumbs up for the place. We never made it there, until today. So how was it? Here's my frank and honest review. There were 4 in our party. We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. It's small inside, nice, and we were the only customers aside from one Door Dash pickup we saw. Well, not really knowing what or how to order, I assumed it came with peppers and mushrooms, so we ordered a 16" biggie steak Philly and one 16" biggie chicken Philly. One order of sidewinder fries, and 4 fountain sodas. The total was $49.50. Make of that what you will. I thought it was a little steep. The 16" subs were $16 each. Ok, taste. They were okay. Just okay. No mushrooms or peppers, no whiz, just onions with the meat and white cheese. You can order those extras, but I didn't know they weren't included. That's my bad. So as far as classic cheesesteak goes, they were just okay. And portion wise, no they weren't anything like a big fat packed Philly. Just kinda middle of the road everyday meh cheesesteak. They tasted good, just not incredible, and we thought their size was underwhelming. Now, the sidewinder fries were GREAT! We all agreed they were the best part of our lunch. And the fountain drinks were usually good. Their syrup mix ratio is perfect and maybe use filtered water, but their soda was a cut above, and yet that matters. Anything you are paying for matters. We will try them again some day, and make sure we order it with the works, but until then, we prefer Charlie's, with their bigger, more packed subs, and they come with lettuce and tomato on them. Honestly, we were expecting more. Much more. So many people have raved about it over the decades, but us 4 customers found it good, but no better than the average corner sandwich shop Philly. We were expecting giant 2-handed overstuffed glorious cheesesteaks, and just got regular everyday common cheesesteaks with nothing standing out, different, or noteworthy. read more

I walked in on my lunch break and looked on the menu and found very items that sparked my attention!.. the place was pretty small with a couple of booths to your right when you first walk in and a few tables with chairs on top of them to your left if you're exiting the store ( Covid-19 protocols of course ). I ended up getting a Buffalo chicken philly shorty with extra onions to go, it didn't take long at all to receive my order. The philly wasn't very hot and not flavorful at all, I did taste the buffalo sauce but other than that no seasoning to the chicken which I believe is key to meat flavor ( the sauce should be the added punch )!..remember this is based solely on my opinion and my opinion alone. I would probably return but I would definitely try something different on the menu if I do! I added a few pics so you could get a broader opinion of what I'm trying to explain!. Well this was my first time visiting this place. I was excited because they have good reviews. So when i entered i was greeted by a young girl at the register. She was nice and answered all my questions. I wanted a cheesesteak basket like my fav place No Forks serves. But they didn't have one. I asked if they could do it and just charge me for the cheesesteak and fries . But they said they could only make them separately. So i was bummed, but i got over it... I ordered a cheesesteak with no bun , cheese fries and a oreo cheesecake which was about $15. I wasn't really impressed with the sub but the fries were delicious. It wasn't alot of meat to work with. The cheesecake was super soft, not the texture I'd think cheesecake would be. But it tasted good. It was clean inside. Alot of teenagers work there so it was weird hearing one girl cussing and carrying on. It was unprofessional to say the least. They were picking on another employee and i felt bad for him... I just wanted to get outta there. 12 minutes later i asked was my food ready, and found out it had been just sitting there waiting for someone to call me to the counter. I gladly took my food and left. I think I'd return again, but i wouldn't go outta my way for it. I've had better cheesesteaks before. Good! My biggest issues were the lack of customer service. I stood there for a while. They didn't even say hello!! RUDE. But the food was good. I liked the sandwich. Meat wasn't burned. Soft roll but held up nicely with the meat. Lots of chip options and drinks. No napkins there but thanks to Rona, I'm sure they expect more of a TOGO. I'd eat here again. When you eat somewhere frequently, you rarely realize how amazing it is until you go somewhere else (and they ask if you want mustard and mayo on your italian hoagie) and realize how superior Philly Cold Cuts really is. I've frequented PCC since you used to have to call at 10:30am to place an order for noon pickup, otherwise the phones would be busy signal city until the lunch rush was over. The app/website makes a Philly-flyby soooo easy. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but my advice is to stick to the classics they have perfected: Cheesesteak, Italian (extra pepper relish & Oil & Vinegar) and the meatball. Like several other reviewers, I came in after the local newspaper declared that PCC made the best cheesesteak in Hampton Roads. Now I've had about 4 or 5 places, some good, some bad. Pretty much all of them claim to be authentic, serving Herr's chips, using the Amoroso roll, etc. I ordered the chicken cheesesteak with onions, white American, lettuce tomato (I added mushrooms for a buck). The roll was certainly the real deal. The chicken was well chopped and the cheese was well melted. I couldn't really notice the mushrooms though. Good amount of meat on the sandwich too. One of the things I didn't care for was they didn't have as many topping options as some other places do, such as pickles, jalapenos, hot peppers, sweet peppers, etc. The fries were really different. They were long thin sliced potatoes. Put it this way, can you envision a fried plantain banana chip with that long, flat shape at curls slightly? That's what this fry was. This was a little too cute, just go with old fashioned fresh cut, or at the least, crinkle cut. I asked for some BBQ sauce and honey mustard and they obliged. Pepsi products and sweet/unsweet tea or in tap, but there are Coke product bottles available in the cooler. So it's cool that fans of both products can get what they want. I can't go far as to call it the absolute best cheesesteak in the region, but it ranks up there with the top 2 or 3. read more

The Philly cheesesteaks were so good, and their fries are delicious. We loved the chunks of fried potatoes you get. We ordered the shorty (7") subs and that size was more than enough. I would highly recommend this restaurant. The vibe of the restaurant is old school deli with great music. Price point was good and the food came out hot and quick! read more
