We grabbed a quick lunch today: service was good - the waitress was friendly and attentive. The drinks are a little strong - we got a blackberry mojito and a pina colada. Had brunch at the Shore Club on First Avenue Beach in Chicago yesterday, and it was delish! My husband had the avocado toast and I had the chilaquiles. The chilaquiles were very good, but they had a little too much sauce for my taste. The atmosphere was fab with a beautiful view of the beach. We also ordered a flight of margaritas which was quite delicious. I will say the service at the front felt a bit like I was interrupting something like a vent session or something as one of the persons there felt very short with me when I mentioned I wanted to take photos. My waitress however was friendly and played never have I ever with us. Located right on Lake Michigan off of North Avenue Beach sits ShoreClub. A great beach house restaurant. Plenty of seating from pub tables to round seating with, private patio reservations surrounding the beach restaurant. The views were astonishing! Sitting that close to a waterfront and enjoying a meal is something therapeutic about it and peaceful that you cannot buy! Hahah!! I promise! We ordered a grilled cheese for the kiddo and steak tacos for myself with a frozen mango margarita and frozen Strawberry daiquiri For my babydoll! This place is truly a hidden gem and easily one of the best dining experiences we've had in the Chicago area. We visited for brunch on July 4th with a party of seven to celebrate both a birthday and Independence Day, and from the moment we arrived, everything was outstanding. The location is unbeatable--you're literally dining right on the beach with breathtaking views and a relaxed, vacation-like atmosphere. It feels like you've escaped to a coastal resort without leaving the city. Now for the food...WOW! Every dish was exceptional. The portions were incredibly generous, and the shrimp in the pasta were some of the biggest, most flavorful shrimp I've ever been served. The salmon was cooked perfectly, the French toast was absolutely delicious, and the charcuterie board was beautifully presented and perfect for sharing. Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and prepared with care. The service was friendly, attentive, and helped make our celebration even more special. This restaurant has officially earned a spot on our must-visit list whenever we're in Chicago. This restaurant is super outdated with their technology. I ordered something on a computer system, it gave me a receipt # and took my name. I even selected print receipt. Well the servers never gave me my order. After waiting a long time, and seeing them give multiple people their orders, eventually I had to break it in to remind them of my tracking # and name. They looked through a trash can, and say they can't find my printed receipt or order #. So that means they have no way of looking up prior orders on their end. So, I left, paying $12.20 on Aug. 23-24. But how could I ask for a refund? If they can't find my actual order, then they would unable to give me a refund either. I think my order # was 235 or so. I think what happened is they accidentally pulled 2 receipts at once, and threw 2 receipts in the trash can together. So, I hope the company upgrades their computer system. read more

Shore club is located right in the middle of North Ave Beach, and is very popular during summers. We had booked the outdoor patio for lunch at around 3pm for a party of 6. Although we arrived early, we got a table on arrival. The weather was fantastic, and hence sitting outdoor was relaxing and we felt like we were in an actual beach city. If it's too sunny, you might feel hot if you sit outside. Loved the music that was playing in the background. In terms of food, we had ordered french fries and a Mezze platter for the table. I personally had a plate of blackened shrimp tacos. I had also ordered a fresh coconut which was refreshing. Others on the table had also called for Margaritas. My favourite was the shrimp taco. I finally tried Shore Club on a perfect summer day! My friends and I planned a lake plunge and had a reservation for lunch. I really liked the place--it's right by the beach club and has great outdoor seating with couches, chairs, and another section. It's perfect for a casual day with friends, and I even saw bridal parties celebrating bachelorettes! The service was quick, and the song selection was amazing. For drinks, we had the In Love with Coco, an espresso martini, and the Margarita Tree, which was the best, four flavors: mango, blackberry, classic, and strawberry. The worst dining experience of our Chicago stay. Our server was withdrawn and the service went downhill the longer we were there. We had reservations for 10 a.m. on Sunday and it was dead when we got there, yet for some reason our ginormous mezze platter appetizer came out at the same time as our entrees . . . and the entrees were cold. I had the watermelon mojito salad and another person had the housemade tuna salad so at least those were supposed to be cold. Left 5 minutes after walking in. Security was so friendly, hostess was fine, but the bartender was on a power trip. We noticed that they had coffee drinks and a frozen espresso martini on the menu. The bartender (with an attitude) told us to let him know if we had any questions. We decided to ask if he could make an espresso martini that isn't frozen... out of curiosity and we'd love to order one if that was an option! His response, while smacking his gum, was "no. we're a beach club, we don't specialize in martinis" EWWW! So nasty for literally no reason. But they charge us extra for a table, there's not enough table to accommodate all the people that bought tickets. Even when we bought a table, we didn't get a waitress or waiter. Booked a reservation on OpenTable and it didn't give any explanation to what we would be receiving upon arrival. We apparently bought an experience that came with a bottle of whispering angels and a platter we were under the impression that we booked at the oasis. So don't be confused when booking online. I would call shore club directly because they won't refund you or transfer the credit over to the club side. Which I also tried to do prior to booking and nobody answered lol the host team never checked us in and called us 4x while sitting. The food was blah. Fries were cold. I really enjoyed the ambiance of the place, it was cute and had a decent vibe. However, I'm giving it 4 stars because the reservation package I paid for didn't feel like it was worth the cost. I paid around $260 upfront for a table reservation that included rosé and a mezze platter. Those items only totaled about $120 on the menu, so the value just didn't match the price. I was expecting more of an elevated experience--especially since we were celebrating a birthday. I was hoping for some extra touches or "bells and whistles," but it fell short in that regard. What made it more disappointing was seeing others walk in and get the same type of table without booking the experience, just ordering off the menu. That said, the food was good--the mezze platter was good, and the shore sandwich was a highlight and perfect for two people. The tower drinks were a bit too sweet for my taste.
