    Hermosa!
    Kira D.

The Berkshire room is the Acme hotel's speak easy, but man, the drinks were rough! My Hermosa was honestly one of the worst drinks I've ever had! It tasted like a 5 year old got into their parents' liquor cabinet and just randomly poured whatever cheap liquor was in there, and mixed it with water! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was nice. Lightly lit, and easy on the eyes,[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] but our server was inattentive and unfriendly, which made the drink that much more unappealing! Hopefully you have better luck than me here!

I mentioned that I wanted tequila as a base and fruity. I forgot to say straight up but it was. It was an amazing cocktail. It had different flavors like rhubarb, Grapefruit, lime, Burlesque bitters and house-made raspberry puree. Wow! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great ambiance. Low lighting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] John the bartender was great. Highly recommend.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This was a great little find. A true cocktail lounge perfect for a date night, a guy's night, or even a solo drink.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is moody, but not too dim. The music adds energy, but doesn't drown out the conversations.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And in addition to the full bar and knowledgeable mixologists, they serve small bites that are perfect to cleanse the palette between drinks. Speaking of drinks... our bartender (I think his name was John), was spot-on with his recommendations. He made me a unique but familiar old fashioned with Old Forester and just the right amount of everything else. We weren't too hungry, so we just had a charcuterie board with our drinks, but if we added the cheese board it probably would have been a perfect light meal for two. The drinks were top shelf, and the service was nothing less. Highly recommend for a nice night out.

Was in downtown Chicago and wanted a cool cocktail bar and decided on The Berkshire Room based on the Yelp reviews. BANG! It was awesome. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Super quaint space in the middle of the hustle and bustle of River North.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Danny the bartender was amazing, the drink selection was super cool and OMG the selection of spirits was over the top. If you are looking to try impossible to find bourbon- THIS IS THE PLACE. I won't get into the details, but they had most of the BT bourbons. If you like tequila, they also had Fortaleza (all kinds). If you have not had Fortaleza, you must try it. It is the GOAT of tequila and is super hard to find. Highly recommend

Had a nice experience here celebrating a night on the town. Absolutely loved the dealers choice, which is where you make specifications on what you'd like in a drink and the bartender then makes something based on that. Very glad our server was patient with us as we may have stayed longer than others.

Out of all the bars we went to this was the worst. We came in town from Texas, my husband and I, a party of 2. And you could tell the server, Chelsea, cared more about the parties of 4+ which was great for her, but sucked for us... she very rarely looked at us, hardly spoke to us, and we had to make her look our way.... It was sad that she was the only server for the whole floor, but it would've been nice to be payed attention to. If you're a party of 4+ this is the place, if your a party of 2, find another location. We had to call her name and flag her down to get her attention, but for her she got more tips from larger parties, that was clear! Fund another bar.

I've visited The Berkshire Room a couple times and have yet to try a bad cocktail. Everything ranges from good to excellent, and they have a wide variety to suit all tastes and moods. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cool location and ambiance, too. Perfect for a sexy date night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service is friendly and relatively quick for a cocktail bar of this style. Definitely will be back.

Stopped in after dinner for a drink here. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior was really fun: little private seating areas scattered on multiple levels with dim lighting made it feel intimate but not overly formal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The music was a tad loud but I'm old so that's what happens.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Loved the drinks. I had an old fashioned and my wife had a sazerac. They were both made well and the service was excellent. However, on this particular night the bartender got sick so they had to close the bar abruptly. They allowed us to finish our drinks and didn't rush us out which was nice. We'd definitely go back - cool atmosphere and good drinks!!

This place was our night cap/bring in the new year spot. We were greeted by a wonderful hostess and host. They were full of energy and set the best vibe for the new year. Our server was wonderful (I hate that I'm forgetting names!). We all did the dealers choice and were extremely pleased with our drinks. It was lovely. Definitely recommend stopping in.

Love this place, love the vibe, love the concept. We made a reservation online and got seated pretty quickly. The place is small, but the seats are comfy. What drew us here was the "dealers choice" option where you get to pick a liquor, a flavor, and a cup. I opted for vodka and sweet. Boy was that vodka and boy was it sweet! It wasn't bad but it wasn't my favorite. Nonetheless I enjoyed it!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a super cute bar inside a hotel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had researched a few places close to our hotel for nightcaps and we liked this place so much, we came back another night. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The first night it was loud with lots of bigger groups. The second night was quiet[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. We had a good time both nights. Service is good, drinks yummy and the menu is neat. They have a thing where you just give them your choice of spirit, flavor profile and glass, and they will create something for you. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Good place for a date or even a big outing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Would definitely go back when I am back in town.

    Dealer's choice!

I come here for the dealer's choice. Danny is phenomenal and is such a cool bartender. You can pick your alcohol and how you like your drink. It's something very unique and you get something new every time.

    Charese M.

There isn't any food at the Berkshire room, but who needs it when you are going to enjoy drinks and conversation? [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe of this place is set for the classy woman and old school fellas.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor and room setup reminds me of a 1960s movie scene.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Upon walking in, the hostess will escort you to your seating area and make sure you are settle in well. The bar service does not disappoint! The bar tender is skilled in his craft and can make anything upon request! I will be going back for a ladies night out!

With an intimate ambiance, in Chicago's Fulton Market, Bisous brings the vibe of a 1960s Parisian cocktail lounge. Since they don't take reservations, I had a short wait at the door. Imagine my shock when we didn't even make it past the bouncer because he was so rude, AS OTHER RECENT REVIEWS HAVE MENTIONED AS WELL! We had dinner nearby and walked to Bisous after, and saw there was a line of 5 or 6 people outside. We expected this as we knew Bisous is a first come, first serve bar. We were curious what the wait time would look like, so we approached the front door to ask a host or employee inside (we assumed there'd be a desk with an employee working it who could give us a wait time). We had no problem waiting, just wanted to see how long they estimated it would be! Before we could even fully open the door, the bouncer swung the door open from the other side and hit me with the door. I stumbled back a few steps and he looked at us and said, and I quote, "What do you want?". I laughed at first because I thought he was joking and putting on a tough guy act. He was not. We quickly explained we just wanted to see what the wait time was, and he said "don't you see there's a line outside?" We said yes, and explained we just wanted to know a rough estimated wait time. He just blankly stared at us while ushering us out. Both my boyfriend and I have worked in customer-service roles for a very, very long time. This encounter was not only extremely rude and unprofessional, but he also hit me hard enough with the door to send me stumbling back, and then said nothing about it and continued to address us in a tone that was nothing less than annoyed and irritated. We didn't end up going inside because that encounter left such a bad taste in our mouths. I don't believe in spending my money at establishments that don't treat their customers with the bare minimum respect they deserve! Bummed we didn't get to experience it, as I'm sure it was lovely inside and I can only hope the rest of the employees were much more kind and accommodating, or at least able to answer a simple question. Fire your "bouncer" (??) and hire someone with some basic customer service and communication skills!!

I sat at the bar downstairs and can confirm the place has a classic speakeasy feel -- the the basement of a place behind a locked door, very dark inside with mood lighting/glass cases and leather chairs/couches around small low tables. It's definitely a great date spot! I took off a star because it's pricey -- I got the "milk punch" on their classic cocktail menu which was $25 and is pretty small, but it's a nice drink and tasted very much like a milk punch drink I got at a speakeasy back home (in Austin, TX). The bartenders were super nice and provided excellent service, no complaints there! The bathrooms were also immaculate. Overall, this is a very nice speakeasy! I've been to many in my day and the ambiance is definitely on par with the best, but I gotta say some other unique ingredients (ideally more floral options!) would really take their menu up a notch! Nevertheless, I would def rec a visit to those visiting Chicago, and would go again even just for vibes :)

I'll start out by saying that the time in the Aviary was the best cocktail experience we have ever had. Not saying the best cocktails (even though they were very good), but the best experience as far as interesting presentations and overall service combined with good cocktails that when you were drinking them did not feel gimmicky at all, but that everything had a purpose. My wife did the 3 drink progression and ordered The Partridge, The 3 Martini Lunch, and the non-alcoholic version of the Kyoto Plum. I got three cocktails, but because I opted for one on their barrel aged part of the menu, my progression was basically a la carte, not the 3 drink $75 price. We also opted for one small bite of food - The Truffle explosion. My drinks were the Cereal Killer, the In The Rocks, and the Blood and Sand. As far as favorites went Joy's Partridge was basically a Mint Julep with some warming spices, but the presentation was great. Almost every table got that drink so it must be well received. My favorite was the Blood and Sand that was just a really well balanced cocktail. I think that part of the menu does not get the elaborate presentations. We both also enjoyed sharing the 3 martini lunch which was a small version of a Vesper, a Gibson, and a dirty Martini. Two things about this drink, we like our martinis with gin rather than vodka (obviously a Vesper has both), but their rules are that there are no changes to their menus, so both the gibson and the dirty martini were vodka based. The Gibson and the Vesper were our favorites of the three as the dirty martini was too dirty. There was even more olive brine if we wanted it dirtier. Bottom line, top notch experience, great friendly service, and the atmosphere was awesome watching the room being served some of the drinks we had, and ones that we did not order. The Truffle Explosion was also a very good bite, basically a truffle/parmesan infused soup dumpling that exploded in your mouth and helped out with a little food in our belly while having all that alcohol at the same time. The only disappointing cocktail was the Kyoto Plum mocktail, interesting presentation, but tasted just like grape juice - no real character. A hostess from Next came and got us and took us to our table in Next for the 1987 Manhattan meal. Thanks for a great experience Aviary!!

We made a reservation for their three course cocktail experience for four of us which required a deposit of $75 per person. Only one of us ended up doing the experience (the rest of us were too full and already tipsy from dinner) but it was nonetheless, a very cool experience. Service was top notch. My partner has admired this place for a long time, as a bartender himself, and he has even learned a thing or two from their Bible-like cookbooks. So when the maitre d offered to allow him to step into the kitchen and help finish one of their cocktails, he was absolutely giddy. This was such a memorable and special touch for us during our visit to Chicago. I loved seeing how the kitchen worked together in a traditional kitchen line but only focusing on cocktails. It was an impressive thing to see. Many of the cocktails are presented in an incredibly theatrical way featuring interesting glassware, dry ice, and even a plastic bag filled with flavored air. I actually wasn't a big fan of the cocktail I ordered (it leaned too heavy into the BBQ flavor for my taste) but I enjoyed trying everyone else's cocktails at the table. I would definitely recommend checking out The Aviary if you are a cocktail enthusiast hoping to try something you can't get anywhere else. It truly is a fine dining experience with mixology at the forefront.
